Their former rival, Quebec Nordiques, proved us that you don't need a French speaking coach to win. Even though it was their last season in Quebec, Marc Crawford did help them reach the #1 spot of Eastern confrence of 1994-95 and he even won the Jack Adams.
Unfortunately, French will still prevail because Marc Bergevin had to APOLOGIZE for having Kirk Muller as interim HC when Claude Julien had heart issues.

But if you think about it, Mark Stone trade is a disaster because Vegas technically gave up way more to acquire Paciorety.
1) Nick Suzuki, guy could be better than Vegas's #1 prospect in Cody Glass
2) 2018 30th pick turned Joe Veleno
3) two 2nd round picks
4) one 3rd round pick

a near carbon copy of 2016-17 Ottawa Senators
- Both team went to CF
- Both team acquried a disgruntled good players and unknowingly giving up top prospects. I bet neither Dorion nor Sakic believed, at the time trade were made, they would get Stutzle and Byram respectively
- Both disgruntled player of both trade ended up giving their blessing despite wanting out of the team they used to love. (Duchene being a diehard Avs fan growing up and Karlsson seemed like he loves Ottawa as much as Alfredsson)

It would probably be as excited as the last game of 2018-19 season between Montreal & Toronto.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MJC13</b></div><div>Any Avs fan objecting to parting ways with Byram, Newhook or any of their prospects for Barkov is out of their mind.</div></div>
tbh, Byram + Newhook is pretty much the price to pay to get Barkov. If they think that's bad trade, Byram for Hertl would be worse in their eyes.
I agree its kinda ridiculous to be unwilling to part way with a piackage including Byram and Newhook for Aleksander Barkov. Their D-core is pretty nasty even without Byram and Barkov is a huge upgrade from Newhook and Kadri. Having MacKinnon-Barkov as their 1C/2C is similar to Crosby-Malkin, McDavid-Draisaitl or Matthews-Tavares.
But from the long-term perspective, this trade will put the Avs in the cap hell situation. (Resign Makar, Landeskog and MacKinnon/Byram later on) I think it's just their organization isn't willing to go all-in by signing (super)star who are free agent or make blockbuster trades. (even if they'll be able to win a 1-2 Cup right now)

Kinda reminds me of the Seth Jones (D) for Ryan Johansen (C) so it's not happening.
This trade would be a W for the Avs short-term but long-term is a win for the Jackets.

Kaut is a decent piece but not that much more valuable than Gambrell. Compher is someone who would have been more valuable pre-pandemic; given the flat cap and the length of his contract, I'm not sure what his value is. Honestly, if this trade weren't made he probably gets replaced by Newhook next season. Trading him helps fit Hertl into the cap this year and others in future years.</div></div>
someone made a trade about Barkov, who is better than Hertl, for Newhook and Byram and Avs fans didn't like it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMs</b></div><div>Poehling = Suzuki 😂
No, Suzuki was seen like a #2C prospect
Poehling looks like a #3C prospect
Drouin have more value than Tatar ( who was a capdump )
But Pacioretty was what 29-30 when traded, Dubois 22 yo ...
Dubois value > Pacioretty value</div></div>
Not only was Suzuki not considered an elite tier prospect (unlike Cody Glass who was probably untouchable in all trade talks about Karlsson+Ryan, Stone or Pacioretty) but Pacioretty also lost some trade value due to the drama at the time of the trade.

It would still have to add KK since Suzuki is untouchable at this point. Although Paciorety has been a consistent 30+goal scorer, he's a winger (top line winger are less valuable than #1 Center) and an older player than Dubois.
I can't see the Habs do this trade during this season because Dubois will probably miss 7 games due to mandatory 2 weeks quarantine. No point in waiting until the 2021 off-season because either...
1) they don't need him due to the development KK
2) KK doesn't progress much which means they would have to give up even more assets

It was Nashville who made the big mistake signing the 29 years old Duchene to a 8m X 7 UFA deal.</div></div>
Could've been worse ....
Imagine if Sens traded Duchene to Preds instead of Columbus with a similar package to the one you proposed...lmao it would've been worse than that.
Preds 2019 1st (Tomasino or McMichael)
2 B-level prospect
Preds 2020 1st for re-signing Duchene (Askarov or Lundell)....Preds dodge a bullet by waiting Duchene until July 1st

Kings were able to tank with the contract of Kopitar (10M) and Doughty (11M) so it's still not impossible...
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Karlsson was declining probably due to injuries late in Ottawa tenure. Sharks made a mistake, giving up so much in a trade for one year rental. But then they compounded the problem (as GMs tend to do) is they felt it necessary to resign Karlsson so they could justify the trade. And even worse they added picks to the trade with the resigning.
Gee, 11.5m sure could've got you quality UFAs and kept the assets you traded to Ottawa. Admitting the Sharks went to the Cup final with EK, but it looks all downhill from now. Plus the Sharks have those horrid long term expensive contracts on declining players.....Couture, Vlasic, Burns and Karlsson and you might add Jones too.</div></div>
Hindsight, no one expected Sharks to give up a lottery pick in Tim Stutzle especially after their trip of the WCF. Neither parties involved in the trade predicted the amazing growth of Josh Norris(Trent Mann, the chief amateur scout of the Sens, initially saw Josh Norris as a 3C).
Literally the same outcome as the Sens when they unexpectedly parted way with what would become Sam Girard and Bowen Byram for a 1.5 years of Duchene.

Why I Dont Want PLD
Dubois to Montreal isn't going to happen.
If it happens during this season, Dubois would have to quarantine for 14 days so he'll probably miss 7 games in 56 game shortened season.
If it happens the season either...
A) Suzuki and KK provens their worth and Habs don't need Dubois
B) KK doesn't progress much and Habs would have to give up a bit more asset than they would right now.
