I doubt they add tbh. Maybe a 3rd round pick or b level prospect.

Why does it make sense for Calgary? Weegar is the better dman, and is on a better contract.

Roy would be a good get for you guys. Chychrun for Roy might be a deal that can be done straight up. I don't think Roy is a top pair dman, but like Zub, he's very good defensively.

I'm confused, most Sens AGM's talk about how good and untouchable Zub is in any trade. Wouldn't that mean he's a legit, RH dman for you guys? Why give up assets when you already have one?

I disagree. Lizotte (when healthy) is an elite fourth line center. He'll perform better that Turcotte in a fourth line role.

Frost is a cheap (I think) and underrated center target. A smart team would have him at the top of their list.

Fair point, but you gotta give to take. I use the Blake Coleman trade from New Jersey to Tampa as an example. Coleman was on a great contract and was traded for a first and Nolan Foote (who at the time was a top, first round drafted prospect for Tampa).

I think Jenner is good, and he'll command a good return. Columbus isn't looking to trade him unless a good offer is there. IMO, that means they'd want Calum Ritchie.

Deadline pipe dream
You've made our defense worse.
- Over the last 2 games, Desharnais proved he cannot play in the top 4.
- Gleason is a huge downgrade to Kulak.
Frost should also be targeted instead of Laughton.

Like whom? Andersson is a beast he's exactly what we could use in the top 4
Plenty of targets that meet our needs that don't have NTC. Agree we need to draft high level D men but that doesn't help the team for many years and we need to be improving the NHL roster right now.
Gourde, Tanev, and Borgen are both UFAs after 2024-2025 they don't have term. All three players I traded to them are younger, team controlled (RFAs), and have higher ceilings. No way Seattle would decline that lol</div></div>
Like I said, Andersson is great, but as an Oilers fan, i've watched him quite a bit. By no means am I saying he's bad defensively, but he's never been a defenseman that could suppress the Oilers attack. Fellow Calgary players like Weegar or Tanev were much better than him. Even Giordano was too. Andersson is above average offensively, so that's a plus. Based on the current makeup of your team, IMO, I think you need a RH dman that is better defensively. Not too sure who fits that mould tho.

Why? Jenner is 30, age where power-forwards decline. His career high in points is 49....
Mittelstadt had 59 points last year and is on pace for almost 70 this year. Not to mention he's only 25.
I think CBJ fans are overvaluing Jenner a lot...

Greenway doesn't have 2nd+ 4th value even with retention, and Edmonton has no reason to trade Desharnais at all. He's huge, cheap and playing very well.</div></div>
Walker also wouldn't be a good fit with Nurse. Both are poor at breaking the cycle.

Marner gone
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>Not my argument, but I'd jump in and say that you could easily make a case that Dobson and his $4M AAV is the most -valuable- RHD in the league, and if you were starting a team from scratch, he'd be one of the first 2 or 3 picked (along with Fox & McAvoy) - Carlson & Pietrangelo are starting to show their age, Weegar is riding a ton of shooting luck, Dougie Hamilton is great but I worry about the injury history, and Bouchard is just now taking the kind of leap that Dobson took two seasons ago.
As far as the trade, there's two reasons I'd pass if I'm the Islanders: Dobson has a better contract situation (his current deal ends in RFA vs. Marner ending in UFA) and Marner's cap hit means that an Islanders team that is basically capped out would need to magically make $7M in cap space appear. That, last part, to me, is the biggest reason why this is a no-go.</div></div>
- My rebuttal to your contract situation comment is that Dobson's contract is done after next year. He's going to get a lot of money, as he is deserved. That being said, as good as he is, he's not going to be McAvoy or Fox good, but he'll command as much money as them.
- I think there is a huge misconception with Bouchard. People are saying "he just took off" or "he's a product of McDavid" or "powerplay merchant". People don't realize that 2 years ago, he got 40+ points and played second unit powerplay, a unit that barely saw ice time. Same thing happened last year, until Barrie got traded. 2 consecutive playoffs now that Bouchard has been our best dman. Bouchard is prone to some bone-head defensive plays and puck watching, but he's a fairly solid dman.
- Question about Dobson though. I know he's good offensively, but how is he on the defensive side? I've seen he's a good shot blocker, but is he a good shutdown dman like Pelech?

Dobson is an amazing defenseman, i'm not saying he's bad. What he's done on a depleted Islanders dcore is incredible. I just think its completely out of line to say he's the 2 best RHD in the league.
