Draft Rights Expiration
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FanOfAllTeams</b></div><div>Can someone please explain to me why expiring of draft rights is varying. I’ll use 2023 as an example, Bedard’s rights expire June 1, 2025, Leo Carlson is June 1st, 2027, Fantilli is August 15th, 2027, and Michkov is indefinite. Can someone tell me why this is and explain why Russians are indefinite as well?</div></div>
It's because of what league they played in prior to being drafted. The reserve list FAQ has a full explaination.

(MTL/CHI) - Hillis for Beaudin
If Montreal wanted Beaudin, they could have claimed him off waivers 3 weeks ago for free.
Whether Beaudin is a former 1st round pick or whether Hillis is an ECHL player is completely irrelevant.
The Chicago Blackhawks win the trade.

Y'know as adults you can celebrate both, right? Like it's not against the law. Try it this year, it's awesome. Also reduces the burden/guilt of not getting to see everyone come Christmastime.

WHy would the Leafs pay that massive amount for someone to take him, when we can just put him on LTIR and use the cap space? Even if we couldn't, this is a brutal deal.

Thread:
Philadelphia Flyers signed Travis Sanheim (8 Years / $6,250,000 AAV)
Solid contract that will be a bargain while he's in his prime and hopefully not too much of a liability toward the end. Assuming the cap will start to go up again $6.25 million in the last three years hopefully won't be a huge percentage. He still hasn't hit his prime years yet as a dman so I say this is a win for the Flyers and Sanheim. If he continues to improve it could be a bargain, if his progression stalls Sanheim has security while Flyers aren't stuck with too much of a cap hit that is detrimental to building a team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>Amazing contract? 4.975 million AAV is about what a middle 6 player capable of around 45 points per year when playing in the top 6 is worth. Batherson got 44 points for the first time last year. If his production goes up from there then it'll be a team friendly contract.
Also 1st line / 2nd line w/e... Tkachuk, Debrincat and Giroux are all better on the wings than Batherson right now.</div></div>
44 points in 46 games 😐

Great contract! Y'all who voted no clearly never seen him play or know who he is. 1st pair shutdown D-man, I don't see people calling Pelech's contract a bad one. Samuelsson will probably grow to be just as effective of a defender.
