Brannstrom is *actually* cost controlled being an RFA.

Yes for 4 years. correct. If you add more term the contract comes down...

6'5 vs 5'10...I'd get rid of Branny for that any day. And Graves is cost controlled. I'd be interested to hear PIT fans opinions...

I hated keeping them as the tandem, but buying out 4 yrs of Korpisalo seems like a massive mistake. And neither seem like trade candidates at all. So run it back and hope the voodoo hits!

To be fair...they may have received a 1st if they could have traded him anywhere, but they did right by the player and accommodated his wishes. It's two free picks for a guy that wasn't coming back no matter what...I've already moved on...bigger fish to fry with this team now.

I don't think Dumba has that much value but probably a 2nd or 3rd as a rental.
Thomson doesn't have much value, so you're offering Brannstrom + 4th. Depends what Bjugstad value is, which is hard to say</div></div>
I feel like Brannstrom goes to ARI and plays next to one of their big RHD for the next decade and puts up 40 pnts a year. Probably a really good fit. I agree Dumba doesn't have a lot of value because he's a UFA, but if you can talk him into staying in the summer for a lower rate, he would fit in nicely on the right side next year. Bjugstad is one of those pro mentality guys that Staios seems to have a hard on for...and hes signed for a 2nd year, so maybe a little more value there then a 4th, but the extra value of Branny and Thomson would make up for that...or maybe up the pick to a 2nd if you know you can extend Dumba.

My Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>I wouldn't classify 27 year old McKeown as a prospect, but him and Burke aren't the issue.
Like OkMan said here, and every Preds fan has pointed out on these boards a Saros for DeBrincat trade doesn't work for NSH. If the Preds trade for Debrincat because they want to be competitive again, keeping Saros is a must. If they're willing to trade Saros they're tearing it down, and an expensive winger in his prime years wouldn't be of interest to them.</div></div>

Replace Debrincat with a healthy Norris, couple that with a healthy Chychrun all year and the extra money and assets you'd have to go out and maybe get a Hellebyuck(?)...they just may be in a better spot come the end of the year...

Interesting...they're going to have a lot of work to do with their AHL club this year then as well. Unless they prefer to just have guys on AHL PTOs, like they did this past year...
I just really prefer not to rush goalies and Sogaar being only 22 seems like a rush job even if he did look steady down the stretch.

ARI is rumoured to be asking the equivalent of 3 1st rd picks. So you'd have to add a 2nd 1st rder or high end prospect. I'd suspect they'd want one of Ty Smith or PO Joseph...

Ya that was the assumption on Formenton. I'm actually surprised there hasn't been any reports on that case for a while now. I thought we were supposed to hear something a few weeks ago?
I'm not sure Pinto gets more tbh...maybe less term. Pinto looks very young at times this year and a 2-3 yr bridge deal between 2 and 3 mil makes sense. Put it this way...he definitely didn't run away with the top 6 role when it was gifted to him.
Let's hope so! Get er done Pierre!

How much for Meier
From the sharks perspective I would think any deal for Meier starts and ends with Knies. Sandin Knies and a 1st is what they'd be looking for. Assuming you don't watch Meier much because of the west coast thing...but he is unreal and would be as expensive if not more expensive as the Horvat/Chychrun asks...which is the equivalent of three 1st rders.
