Agreed. But overall I don’t hate it. Based off of last year though I’d have Hughes higher than Matthews. Even as a Leaf fan. Man is that kid impressive to watch.

Of all the trades you’ve posted this is the one I don’t mind. Extensions are what would come in play with this one. Minnesota I think would want Nylander signed immediately. But Toronto is only getting a bottom pairing D man for another year out of this.
Depth has been the key for Toronto and you have some character in this. Ultimately I think both sides reject as it still doesn’t give Minnesota the centre they need. And despite what so man leaf fan will tell you on here, Nylander is not a centre lol.

Leafs fan here. Don’t rush the judgement. Never know how 17,18,19 year old kids are gonna turn out. Remember how Strome was drafted higher than Marner? Or how the leafs were crazy not to take Hanifin? Or how about Edmonton getting a steal in Puljujarvi after Columbus surprising us all and taking PLD??!
I rag on the Habs all the time, but the Michkov pick was certainly high risk.

Nesterov. Whatever happened to him? That draft year remains an interesting one. Rounds 2-7 better than round 1.
