too much for engvall, at least 1.8 or 1.9 is good enough. aston-reese is probably gonna sign at least for 2 or 1.95 at least. everything else looks pretty decent.

Fair. Though Zegras and Willy Nylander would be really good together I think. Plus You get out of a contract that can definitely go south. The Leaf Get to restock picks a little and at least 2 or 3 years of hopefully good goaltending

I agree with the part on if he plays good he’s worth a lot, but I think even if he struggles a bit for the rest of the season he will still have value. GMs will heavily value his experience and “intangibles”, not to mention the fact that he was really really good prior to this year. I could easily see a team like Edmonton paying quite a good bit for him

People will say nothing as if he wasn’t widely considered a top 20 NHL d man among the hockey community prior to this year. He’s struggled in the time he’s played but he’s played a ton of time with Holl this year and the two have brought each other down, and have both been better when apart. Healthy Muzzin is at worst a good #3 d man if he can’t return to his level of play from prior to this season. I’d imagine the return is at least a 1st, especially considering Holland paid a 3rd + solid young d man (equivalent to Dermott more or less) for an older d man on pretty much the same contract who is much, much, much worse (and both have “intangibles” and experience as well)

Interesting title, and interesting trade haha. Don’t see Anaheim liking that. It’s a whole lot of meh for a good goalie, and a top 6 forward, and 50% retention on both. Also, Gibson has 5 more years after this one.. don’t see them retaining at all. Also, they retained on Lindholm, and Manson, so they only have one retention spot left. It will be interesting to see if Gibson does get moved.

Team looks good. I’ve been dreaming of domi on the leafs for years and korpi is a good addition. I’m not too concerned about giving up firsts. Dubas is great at drafting. Knowing him he’ll grab the next matthew knies in the third round

Maybe Nylander to start? Than maybe Toronto doesn’t due that either because Dahlin hasn’t really been that good his 2nd and 3rd year. It’s a tough hypothetical to think about.

If Dahlin is traded which is doubtful. It would be for a forward. But I’m interested to see if Dahlin can get back to his rookie year form under a different coach.

Don't know why you say Kerfoot is depth player. Even Engvall has secured a top 12 spot. Gee those two Sabres have 22 points this season, the two Leafs 17 points. Plus the Leafs lose two players and don't have those two two Sabres in the lineup for over two weeks. It's a marginal improvement to the Leafs at best. The Leafs have lots of good forwards. Certainly a lot better trade partners than the Leafs. Let's have this discussion at TDL. Sabres aren't getting that return from any team(s)

SENS building a powerhouse future
The problem with pick swaps is that, the more picks you have to include to be fair, the less fair they are. The first trade, with Anaheim, the values going to Anaheim are higher than going to Ottawa, but it's like trading four middle6 guys for a top6 guy, it's quantity for quality. Does Anaheim need to restock their farm system? This is Ottawa offering to Anaheim, they have to make Anaheim interested. A fair trade doesn't mean it makes sense. Does Ottawa really want another top10 pick? Want it enough to overpay for it? Dorion was trying to trade the 5th pick.
Pick swaps are tough, but fun to think about.
Edit: Yes I read the description

What in your opinion would need to be added to swing this deal for Darcy?
This is the best roster I've seen going into next year. Do you think its a cup contender?
thanks!</div></div>
Simple, take the picks out of the Manson trade and use them in the Kuemper trade. A 1st+2nd could be what it takes to get Kuemper. If it's the Pittsburgh pick it could be 1 for 1 but if It's a 2021 1st then I think you have to add a 2nd or a decent prospect

my prediction with Laine
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>So, for Laine, you're giving up:
-Overpaid dman, that still has upside but hasn't shown it in a couple of years.
-Decent prospect that was alright in his first pro season.
-Good prospect that hasn't played in over a year, and has a pretty big question mark hanging over him.
-2nd round pick.
IMO, you've gotta give up something that you don't want to give up when you're getting a talent like Laine. Winnipeg has absolutely no reason to, and definitely shouldn't even think about trading him for question marks.</div></div>
Totally agree with you there. I could see a trade between WPG & PHI going down like this : Laine + WIN's 3rd round pick (2021) to PHI / P.Myers + M.Frost + PHI's 1st round pick (2020).
It's fair value on both sides. PHI lose a guy they don't want to in Myers, which needs to happen to get a high end guy like Laine. Still, I don't think WIN does this perticular trade, considering they want a 2nd line C at least for Laine...even PHI hesitate, since they'll be in cap hell next season (2021-2022) trying to resign Hart, Laine, Sanheim, Niskanen, Laughton...

Cap situation
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangle</b></div><div>toronto is probably top 3 worst cap problems. i'd put tampa 1st, maybe sj 2nd, and toronto 3rd.</div></div>
Then you don't understand anything about how the cap works. The Islanders are terrible, Vancouver has major issues ahead. There are several teams with major cap allocated to players who are either, heavily overpaid and leaving their prime, getting big money for what they did in their prime or just terrible contracts in general. Cap hell happens when you have very good players you can't afford to keep because you have money tied up with guys who can't pull their weight. TO has zero of those. Every single player on their roster can be moved without any difficulty. Tampa doesn't have that situation. The Islanders have about 7 guys on their roster who make way more than they should and would be nearly impossible to move. Or will soon become impossible to move. That is cap hell. The Leafs are fine, they have too much talent to keep some depth guys but enough cheaper talent to replace the ones they may need to move. That's a good problem to have.

BEANER GO BYE KAPPY SAY HI
I like bean but I just dont see the leafs moving Liligren for him as Dubas would probs want a RHD prospect coming in
now if bean was a RHD prospect and this was proposed leafs would probs accept.
As for the Kapenan trade its a pass for the following reason
in terms of Kaps value a recent post looked into his numbers and it was surprising.
Kaspari Kapanen - Even Strength Points Per 82-Games:
2018-19 (22 years old) = 44 Even Strength Points
2019-20 (23 years old) = 36 Even Strength Points (69 games) full season projected 42-45 points
- That's in roughly 13 even-strength minutes per game (with lots of PK time and no PP time).
- It also projects to 60+ total points if he's given a full time spot on a teams power-play unit.
- He's very solid defensively and is much more valuable than people here want to admit.
- And his contract adds even more value ($3,200,000 x 3 years with an RFA expiry at 25).
Compare that to someone like Zucker (Return = 1st + 2nd + Galchenyuk).
2018-19 (27 years old) = 28 Even Strength Points
2019-20 (28 years old) = 40 Even Strength Points
- He's 5 years older and in his late prime.
- His cap-hit is $2,300,000 higher with similar term.
- He was getting more ES ice-time than Kapanen.
I could prove the exact same point with a bunch of older guys like:
- Gabriel Pageau (Return = 1st + 2nd + 3rd)
- Blake Coleman (Return = 1st + 1st)
But Kapanen's ES production is more in line with guys like:
- Barzal
- Keller
- Monahan
- DeBrincat
- Seguin
The only major difference is that they get PP ice-time.
(note not my words but from someone else)
