Don’t mind me, just casually watching a 30 goal player getting traded for nothing.

New Jersey Devils signed Jack Hughes (8 Years / $8,000,000 AAV)
The numbers don't tell the story. Anyone who's watched him skate and make plays with the puck knows he's elite. Hughes is not dependent on high scoring wingers to provide offense. Just look at how well Kuokanen and Sharangovich were playing in the second half of last season and compare that to what little they've done this season with Hughes injured. It's night and day. This kid is a rising superstar. All due respect to Suzuki, Pettersson, and others, Hughes creates offense at an elite level. The numbers will come. A+ signing.

(CHI/CBJ) - Boqvist, 1st, 1st, 2nd for Jones, 1st, 6th
Wow. Just wow. What an absolute battle it's been today for the prestigious title of "Dumbest GM in the League." A lot of great contestants to choose from on this fine Friday evening. Chris Dury from New York with a strong entry trading Pavel Buchnevich for a gritty fourth liner and signing Goodrow to a fabulous six year deal because Tom Wilson exist. Vancouver's Jim Benning with his yearly entry today can't be overlooked. Counting on OEL to bounce back despite going to a worse defensive team will surely work out. Stan Bowman's Blackhawks going ALL IN despite not being close to a contender and giving Seth Jones that massive contract. Certainly a worthy entry. Great work Bowman, you POS. Less we forgot, Chuck Fletcher proving just how much nepotism exist in hockey with sending a 1st and 2nd round pick for one of the worst analytical players in the league. Chuck's reading the CBA as we speak to see if he can sign Risto to a 14 year deal. Plenty of great entries to choose from today. Can't wait for next week's edition when free agency opens up.

To me this is a signal the Sabes are not convinced on Ullmark. I actually don't disagree, I don't think he'll be a #1 in the NHL. He's, really, really good but not elite / great based on body of work thus far.

Easy retool season
I don't think they should stack the first line, spread out the veterans, and Rakell played really well with Silf last year so they should be on the second line, mentoring steal, then have Henrique with two kids that are ready for third line mins (Terry Comtois or lundestrom) but really, this teams lines will be changing throughout the year getting all the kids some looks on different lines also if there's going to be a LHD playing 2RD it will be Fowler, then you have Larson Guhle and Mahura fighting for the bottom two LHD spots, and Hakanpaa could get that third RD spot (I think he will, but who knows) i don't think Del Zaster well be in the top 6, they'd probably okay a kid over him, Holzer might, it'll be him or Hakanpaa, but just like the forwards the d pairs will probably change relatively frequently (aside from Lindholm-Manson)

Ducks fans
The 1st is nice, but the rest is kind of "meh". MDC is a bust. There is no upside there. Mayfield is "ok", but I don't think he brings enough value to warrant us giving up our captain and one of the best Ducks of all-time.
Personally, I don't see Getzlaf moving. His value is still very high to us. We need him to play 1st line minutes so that the young kids we have aren't thrust into positions they aren't ready to play. We also need him to provide a lot of leadership and guidance (very noticeable last season with Terry). My view is that, even if a team was to come in and blow our socks off with an offer, Getzlaf would exercise his NMC and stop us from moving him. He's been in Cali for over a decade. His wife is from Cali. His kids have grown up in Cali. I just don't see him wanting to move at this point.

(EDM/CGY) - Lucic (12.5% retained) & conditional 2020 3rd for Neal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Trickster</b></div><div>I am iffy on this trade.
Does saving 500k really worth this?
Neal much more likely to bounce back over Lucic should be a factor in the decision for this too.</div></div>
This trade isn't nearly as bad for Calgary as everyone thinks/says it is. Everybody has to step back and look at the math.
Calgary and Edmonton are not New York or Los Angeles, or Toronto. Neal's contract was/is all salary, equally spread. Thus the Flames owed Neal $23 million over the next four years. In contrast, Lucic's contract was front-loaded and there was a $3 million signing bonus that Edmonton just paid, so Lucic is owed a total of $16 million by Calgary for the same period. Now subtract the retention ($3 million), and Calgary saves $10 million in real cash by this trade. Now $10 million to us sitting in the comfort of our armchairs at home may not seem important, but to the Calgary GM it means that he can offer a free agent next summer a $2.5 million signing bonus in every year on a four-year contract -- money he didn't have before, but which may mean the difference between being able to sign Matt Duchene or Artemi Panarin and being able to sign Ryan Dzingel. So although Edmonton may be the winner on the ice, Calgary is the winner at the bank.

Every 1st overall pick ever in the history of the salary cap (or this CBA I'm not sure) has received this exact contract. It's going to be a 90 point player by year 3 making at max 3.775. Kakko had people vote no as well when he could max make 3.555. He could be just as good as Hughes if not better.</div></div>
