offseason plan
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>newballcoach</b></div><div>Your offseason plan is to needlessly give away a first round pick? And not upgrade the forward, defence or goaltending? To be honest, it doesn't seem like a great plan.</div></div>
I mean getting rid of Holl and Mrazek allows them to keep Campbell, a major part of their success. On defense i think they should allow Liljegren and Sandin to become full time regulars in the lineup.

That seems a little excessive. Thompson may very well be our best D prospect

Alternative to re-signing Paul - Puljujarvi
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoopsTroops</b></div><div>I don't know if I like Paul on the wing. Sure he can play it, but he seems most effective down the middle.
If we want to keep Stamkos-Kucherov together, I think Point needs another winger capable of playing with a talented center.
Personally, I like this better than with Paul.
Koekkoek is only here because I don't like our D prospects ability to make the leap next year and I'm no more a fan of any potential low cost FA's. He could also give us the ability to move Sergy up with Hedman for an extended period.</div></div>
Fair enough. I will say I’m intrigued by the potential of Puljujarvi. He seems like he’s inching towards a breakout season where he could contribute as a scoring power forward, similar to Val Nichuskin (who TB may have trouble containing if we play COL in the SCF). We could certainly use a young, big frame winger in our top 6.

Is it possible we just put Paul at wing and allow Stammer to stay in the middle? I’d rather have Paul and our first round pick than Puljujarvi and Koekkoek.

I do not think ABB can play in the bottom six, thats not his game. But, I do think he has a place on this team and could score some goals for them next year.</div></div>
Maybe the lines could look something like this:
ABB-Point-Kucherov
Killorn-Cirelli-Stamkos
Hagel-Paul-Colton
Maroon-PEB-Perry

A killer trade could be good for asset management, but JBB usually doesn’t like trading core members unless it’s absolutely necessary for cap reasons. Certainly wouldn’t be agaisnt a Killer trade considering his age and expiring contract

The egregious turnovers have become all too common for somone being paid nearly 5 million. I truly believe losing him isn’t as big as a loss as people think. With that being said his role on the powerplay and penalty kill will be missed.

We’ve been running this year with 1 scratch and it’s been fine. Not saying it’s an ideal scenario but I’d rather risk it if it meant we were able to get Paul back

You don’t need 3 scratches + signing Paul would send Dumont out of the lineup saving another 800k. Pretty sure it can be done

With the way the game is going, opposing team are much more likley to shake their legs at Brayden Point or Johnny Gaudreau than Matt Martin
