Sorry I was banned when the trade went through but I just wanted to say I’m really happy for you that’s two really good assets from Monahan and by 2027 that 3rd might be even better then the 2024 one will be and you guys can resign him in the offseason and get another 1st for him too, the leafs would have only offered robo and a 3rd we just won’t spend a 1st on a forward we don’t need, and you guys obviously got the better trade out of him

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fran615</b></div><div>Habs refuse Grzelcyk AND Forbort for Matheson.
Grzelcyk doesn't even come close to Matheson. Small guy, useless on offense, push over on defense... only Bruins homer fans with thick eye glasses and stubborn meat heads can't properly evaluate their talent.</div></div>
No fan of Grizz…at all…but.
Career ppg.
Grizz .314
Matheson. .304
So if Grizz is useless on offense….
Grizz is better defensively, cheaper and thankfully expires this year.
Truth be told…i don't want either of them. All things equal, I take MM. But under the circumstances i’d rather Grizz of the two.
Trading Poitras and a pick for MM would be like you guys trading Juraj and a pick for Grizz. It’s ridiculous.

Not sure what Habs fan said they would accept an Anderson 50% for couple 4th but I can guarantee, they would rather keep him if that's the best offer. I would rather buy him out frankly than do this.

You seen our center depth in Montreal after dealing Monahan? We literally can’t afford to deal Evans, not that I would want to for a 3rd anyways.

Too much.

Your reaction is fair. Just want to try to give some explanation for OldNYI where he probably could’ve been more measured in his response, which is that there are an insane number of Harris for Z proposals. And a very quick bit of research into ANA (or review of feedback on any of those proposals) will highlight a very real logjam at LD with Fowler, Mintyukov, Zellweger, Lacombe, Vaakanainen, Hinds, Dionicio.
He should’ve had a more patient reply for sure, but we aren’t perfect. All the best to you

Doesn't mean they are selling low on him, especially since Hughes literally said today that he isn't planning on trading Savard right now. Habs want to be in the playoffs next year, Savard is the type of Dman you want for a run and we already have him, why should we trade him this year then have to turn around next year and possibly look for another Savard type of D man?

DNVR Trade Deadline - Casey Come on Down
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fran615</b></div><div>Maybe a 3rd, and a 2nd is outrageous?
I mean... you can say you disagree with a 2nd - and it's true, it seems like a stretch - but for being outrageous.
Monahan got a 1st as a cap dump for one season.
Marleau too.
It's not 'unheard of'.
But I get you - I wouldnt do a 2nd too for Colorado. But sometimes, under the pressure of something else brewing, some GMs need to act quick.
Cheers buddy</div></div>
RyJo is still on pace for over 18 goals, Monahan was hurt and hasn’t scored 18 since 19-20 and CGY was trying to create cap space to try and keep Tkachuk, COL is in no rush to create cap space, and if they do it in the off season there will be a number of teams that will roll the dice on a guy like Johansen who at the very least has been healthy. Marleau who knows why TOR did that.

I agree with you, but going for revenge-proposal is useless.
We know Holtz is a good player and he won't be traded for scrap.

It is simply to prove a point and paint things from the other perspective.
I am happy to have meaningful conversations about Holtz and other pieces. But seeing garbage offered for him time and again gets irritating

Savard Tanev Laughton Maroon
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>I personally don't believe Savard is worth a 1st. I expect his value to be closer to a 2nd.
So late 1st + Timmins (call him a 5th in value) for a late 2nd (it's Colorado's) and Savard. Big difference between a late 1st and late 2nd.
But I could very well be wrong in terms of Savards value. What do you think he is worth?</div></div>
I'm skeptical that Savard is worth a first. Maybe with retention. The bigger issue for Montreal is if moving up 20-30 spots in the draft is worth moving your only experienced RD, a veteran presence and guy you can throw to the wolves AND use a retention spot for this year and next. The answer is probably not. A 1st (or close enough) is probably what it would take for the effort to be worth moving him.
Timmins is a throw in that Montreal doesn't need.

Hey I'm not doubting Habs fans again!
Do so at your own peril!
If they say they're getting a 1st for Savard then they're getting a 1st for Savard! 😬
What do I think he's worth?

No matter if he really is worth or not, fact is that everyone that did Monahan vs 1st proposals where right, and everyone complaining about it were wrong.
It is always the same, players are overpaid at TDL, and much capfriendly users don't understand that.

Will some people own up to their own criticism
I said myself a 2nd and a prospect is the range for most of the players towards the top of the trade boards - including Monahan. Have a good weekend.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fran615</b></div><div>The first 2 are not what I'm talking about. Monahan alone traded for Kappo and a 1st. That's not what these are.
The last one, I agree it's a bit much. There's no Kappo and a 1st as well. But I won't defend that one for sure.
That is an extremely rare occurence. I haven't seen anything like that one... so I agree with you. In every fanbases, there are outliers.
I was people offering a 5th round pick for Monahan.... with retention and a 3rd going back. And they defended it.
But in any case, look at the ACGM thread I posted yesterday: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/4861727
The overwhelming majority of Habs fans had Monahan going for either a 1st, or a 2nd+prospect. Can you agree on that?
And I will agree on the fact that some other non-Habs fans also had Monahan going for a 1st; I saw a good portion of it.
I dont want to pick a fight here again haha</div></div>
