Maybe I value Lundkvist differently than you guys. He has shown significant improvements this season and can (in my eyes) still be a top 4 dmsn. Maybe not the best defender but the skill is there and his game has an offensive punch
What kinda adds would Ottawa be looking for? I don’t think they’d get a Stankoven/Bourque, MAYBE Bischel but I think a bit of sweetening would have to come from Ottawa (or maybe downgrade the 1st to a 2nd) but even then I don’t think Dallas considers Bischel

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Burnout</b></div><div>It is pretty obvious that none of these teams make those trades. Pesce is more in demand than that, moving salary is much more costly and the Habs trade has them slightly lower the pick quality for no reason.</div></div>
I think you’re undervaluing Bourque here. He can step into the Carolina lineup this season on a near league minimum deal. The guy above said Delly/1st would be better but I think Bourque/3rd has equal if not more value
“None of those team makes those trades” Vancouver would make that trade maybe for a 3rd? Definitely for a 4th. They’re so thin on right handed dman and especially big bodies on the backend it just makes too much sense. I think Faksa would fetch a 3rd from a team who really needs a 3rd line centre. Maybe I’m overvaluing them slightly but I also think you guys are undervaluing them too

Doubt it. He has value around the league. I think when he gets moved Dallas will be getting some sort of small value back. If I’m wrong you can come back to this but I truly think he has value purely from his defensive game

Gonna disagree with this. Bourque has way more value than Delly has. I honestly think Bourque + 3rd has the exact same value as Delly + 1st if not more. I agree that Marchement doesn’t make a whole lot of sense with Bunting now there

Yeah ngl I wasn’t too sure on Detroits needs but he’s a solid bottom pair guy, just feels like Dallas needs all the money they can get at the moment

With Bear's shoulder rehab going 6 months, they need RHD and Juulsen isn't going to cut it if they bring him back for that purpose. I've thrown it out there but I like Garland for Faksa and Hakanpaa though Idk what Dallas fans think.</div></div>
I actually think this makes a ton of sense for Dallas AND Vancouver. Although I think Dallas would rather spend the money on defense, they’d get a solid winger that can ride shotgun with either Seguin/Marchment or Benn/Johnston
Vancouver gets a big RHD which is something they’re lacking (ignore Myers) and also a solid defensive 3rd line centre which is something they’ve been lacking for a long time. I think this deal would benefit both teams

As a Stars fan maybe? But there would A. Have to be a contract in place and B. Can’t imagine there would be any other draft picks (maybe a 5th or something) but nothing significant

If you look at my profile picture, you'd guess i'm probably the biggest Bourque fan out here, and I'm probably the one who saw him play the most, so of course I know what he's capable of! I would really like to have him in MTL's prospects pool.</div></div>
Haha understandable! Unfortunately I don’t think Montreal has anything for sale that could net Bourque, maybe Anderson and half salary? though his stats are fantastic this year and it would still be risky for Dallas. Change of scenery may fix things but it would likely be too much money retained for MTL for too long, and I’m not sure how much interest Dallas would have in him for that long, but a 2.75 price tag for 5 years could be intriguing 🤔

Nah I don’t think so. I think Bourque projects to be a solid middle 6 centre/2nd line centre so I don’t think they’d consider Edmundson. Edmundson would likely bump Hakanpaa out of the lineup which would be an upgrade for sure but I don’t know how much it moves the needle. If dallas were to be in on Edmundson I could see them moving a lower tier prospect like a Stranges + a mid round pick

Tbh I think it’s perfectly fair for both sides, was just covering my ass lmao and tbh that’s pretty solid value for Chychrun. Is there no blue chip guy? Sure. But the 1st, Bourque, and Harley are all very valuable assets. I think Hakanpaa has value around the league (although I don’t think he should he’s horrible) due to being a huge RHD, and yeah Khudobin is there to make the cap work. If Arizona is dead set on getting an elite prospect over a few pretty valuable pieces I could see them looking elsewhere

Because Vancouver is beyond desperate for defensemen. Who’s their 2nd best dman right now? Schenn? Bear? They desperately need someone who can play RHD and PK, and also need someone with size while dalllas really doesn’t. He’s more of a liability here than not

Stars fan here: I think Meier is the only player available where I’d consider moving Stankoven. Even then I don’t know. They could have Stank playing next season and the year after that at ELC money which holds insane value on a team that’s capped out. I think if Stank goes to SJS, there’d have to be so many things going right for Dallas in this deal including contract discussions previous to a trade, retained salary, etc. Just seems to complicated to get done

He is horrible for his role. What I expect out of number 6 guys is like what the Stars get from Joel Hanley. Isn’t great, isn’t horrible, just doesn’t get exposed every 2nd shift. You don’t notice Hanley when he plays which is great

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlevinKalevra</b></div><div>Both guys have been rough at times but Suter hasn’t been nearly as bad as Hakanpaa. Problem is they’re both ideal on the third pair but they’re trash together. They’re also still developing Nils. So if your best third pair is Suter and Nils (it is). Then that puts Hakanpaa in the top four. Where he gets torched every other shift. So if they’re looking to upgrade the defense then Hakanpaa needs to be the odd man out and it isn’t a difficult decision. I’m just glad they stopped scratching Miller who is better than Suter and Hakanpaa and it isn’t close. If you add somebody and don’t trade Hakanpaa then Nils will be out of the lineup and you’ve completely wasted assets. Just like adding a forward and keeping Glendening</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EsoYeezus69</b></div><div>Honestly I don’t mind either Suter or Hakanpaa most of the time (sometimes I want to kill both), but their ice time should be reduced, and when there’s 3-5 minutes left in the game, for god’s sake don’t play them.</div></div>
I’ve already stated my Suter opinion a thousand times so I won’t go there lmao but agreed Hakanpaa has been downright brutal. I’ve never understood the scratching of Miller unless it’s just for rest. He’s been stellar so far in my eyes, and that’s maybe because I wasn’t expecting a whole lot from him but he really does look like the Colin Miller of old. Great find by Jim Nill. I wonder if there’s a Hakanpaa/Schenn trade between Vancouver and Dallas. Vancouver likely shows interest because Hakanpaa is younger, a big RHD and good PK guy which is something Vancouver is desperately missing

Kane deal is interesting for sure from a Stars perspective. My only thing is make it lottery protected so if they miss the playoffs it transfers. I don’t think Dallas will have to worry about missing playoffs but my biggest fear is trading a 1st rounder before you’ve even played a game of that season. It’s worked out so far with Lundkvist thankfully
