Gotcha, okay. I’m not incredibly familiar with the Habs prospects, so I kinda just picked the name I know, so take it with a grain of salt. I would still take the trade if Mesar was in instead of Guhle though.

The roster spot was the issue, so I had to get rid of someone. But that’s what I thought he was worth, somewhere between a 4th and a 5th, so adding Vinnie made it a 5th I guess. Idk, it’s not like I would hate the trade if it’s was a 4th lol

Okay, fair, but then let’s look at some true rentals that have gotten similar prices at the past 3 trade deadlines:
- Giroux to FLA got a first and a prospect
- Jarnkrok to CGY got a 2nd, 3rd, and 7th
- Chariot to FLA got a 1st, 4th, and a prospect
- Copp to NYR got a 1st, 2nd, 5th, and a player
- Foligno to TOR got a 1st, and 2 4ths
- Savard to TBL got a 1st and a 3rd
- Athanisiou to EDM got 2 2nds
- Toffoli to VAN got a 2nd, 4th, player, and prospect
And none of those players re-signed with that team. There is a precedent for teams doing this.

You make a good point. I personally think that he could challenge Debrusk for that final spot, but even if not, that would give the Bruins a really scary lineup if you have Garland on the third line. Garland-Coyle-Zacha would be a really, really scary third line, one better than a lot of teams second lines. Idk, I think I’d go for it while you still have Bergy and Krejci.

Idk man, a former first rounder and a 2nd round pick is a little steep of a price imo. I think you could get a better player than Murphy for that. Granted, I also am not a huge Murphy fan.

Coleman was a very similar price, as well as Goodrow. Hagel doesn’t seem like a rental at this point. I know those guys had a couple years on their contract, but point is they were never going to be resigned. Teams pay firsts for rentals all the time.

As much as I love JGP and the idea the Sabres would get him, I’m not huge on Toffoli coming here. It also concerns me investing $20 mill in just your second line. Plus you’d need to shake up the Ehlers trade to get it even close to working, and you didn’t get nearly enough back for Ristolainen, all while completely screwing the D-core. We’ve got a #1, 2 top-4’s, and a whole bunch of maybes at the NHL level.

The Ehlers-Ristolainen trade has been rumored for over a year now, plus WIN would probably like to win now. Granted, I was unsure of how much Ehlers was worth, but they have an abundance of talent of the wing.
