If Willy Doesnt Re-sign
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>Why would he sign in Calgary then?</div></div>
Calgary is having an exodus of many of their top players. They would pay a premium to retain a guy like Nylander. Plus many Swedes on the team including Andersson, Markstrom, Kylington, etc.

Getting ppl mad about trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Easy decline by Wild. An extreme overpay by the Leafs for Horvat and Schenn. Holl and Schenn cancel each other. So the Leafs trade Robertson, Niemela, 1st, Kallgren and Kerfoot. Horvat isn't needed by the Leafs. Can't see any team offering as much for Horvat.</div></div>
Literally every logical analyst has noted the need for the Leafs to add an impact top 6 forward... Kerfoot literally brings nothing to the table other than cap balance. Why would MIN decline? Foligno has 8 points in 23 games plus they gain draft capital....

It's literally the perfect scenario. If they fit really well they can choose to re sign them. If they don't, they can flip them at the deadline for some sort of picks.....

The Kerfoot and Holl Predicament
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldManRutherford</b></div><div>Glad to see Toronto realizing Kerfoot and Holl are cap dumps. Your problem is you want draft picks back to move them when you should be adding draft picks to move them.</div></div>
That is an extremely off target take. Read reports from insiders. Kerfoot is actually a valuable asset given he is only owed 750K in money this year. a 50+ point player who is 27 years old and can play all positions and a 6'4 RHD who has very strong underlying numbers and statistics.
This is the problem with these boards. People think Leaf fans over value their players which is partially true but then you get ridiculous takes like this suggesting you have to ADD assets to DUMP players like Kerfoot... If Kerfoot played for CBJ or ANA he would have very solid value but because he is a Leaf he is a useless cap dump

Well considering ANA walked away from a 1.8M QO for Milano he is looking at a short term prove it contract. Same with Rodrigues

Trying to Address Holes in Roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>Kings RD Depth: Doughty, Roy, Walker, Durzi, Clarke, Faber, Grans
Askarov is worth more than Sandin in my opinion, if Askarov is available you won't be alone on getting him.
Varlamov doesn't have a negative worth enough to justify cap dumping Mzarek for an extra year.</div></div>
What makes Askarov more valuable than a 21 year old D man who has excelled in the NHL and is a blue chip prospect? Also given the fact of where the organization is with goaltending. In fact, its way more of a risk/reward for TOR
Getting a solid RHD prospect developing the AHL and a 3rd round pick for a 34 year old G is good value. Taking on Mrazek for 1 year at 3.8 is not a terrible trade off

Holl is by far the easiest to move if its not LA I was under the impression they didnt have RHD
Kerfoot analysis just doesn't make sense
HOW? Nashville has a 27 year old star G and get a blue chip defence prospect for a blue chip G prospect. Plus they get rid of Myers who they tried to bury the Marlies
Varlamov is a BACK UP and they get a 3rd rounder, B level prospect, and a G who comes in at $1.2M less than Varlamov and has struggled, yes, but has an NHL resume. Also only has 2 years left

You can frame it anyway you want. Leafs could have buried Marchment in the AHL but they gave him an opportunity with another NHL team. He could be GRATEFUL.
Muzzin's first choice may be to stay but if management has discussions about what they want to do, CGY would be a great landing spot for him.

Kinda funny that the Leafs could find a UFA goalie for just 900,000.
You really think Marchment signs for 2.5m?
Another impractical l 21 man roster</div></div>
Marchment is 26 years old and has ONE good season. He may fetch up to 3M but any team that gives him more for one good NHL season is stupid. Leafs have history with him and traded him where he was able to break out plus he's an Ontario guy. $2.5M - $3M is where he should be based off track record and limited experience.
Muzzin won a cup under Sutter and has played in the West his whole career aside from TOR???
Lankinen is literally a back up with average numbers. I'm sure TOR can get a back up for under $1M lmao

The isles receive:
-solid prospect
-3rd round pick
-55 point, 27 year old multi position forward
-A back up with lots of NHL experience who has thrived as a back up and could easily reclaim his form
FOR:
-Their back up G
-34 year old 4th liner

ARI wants (reportedly) an Eichel type return, so to help you along here:
Kerfoot = Tuch
Robertson = Krebs
1st round (TOR) = 1st round (VGK)
Holl > Lybushkin
Leafs can throw in a future second rounder if thats what gets the deal over the line too.
Toronto is so generous Arizona gets elite RHD Justin Holl.

Avs get a starting goalie they desperatley need and they have a lot of depth on D. Also Zadorov is an RFA and Avs get another year out of Freddy at $5M and have the cap to re sign him. If anything Florida gets better value on that trade - not only do they add Willy but Dermott is a really underrated D man that can be a #4 or a really really good #5.

ANA has a lot of cap room and Johnsson is a 40-45 point guy when healthy. He can bring a lot of jump to a team when healthy - which he is now.

How do you reckon he's a top 10 goalie?</div></div>
So Andersen has an up and down statistical season on a team that was the very least, up and down and now we're putting Francouz and Stalock ahead of him. Go present your evaluation of the goaltender position to an NHL GM and they'll tell you how asinine that is. It's funny - people on here talk about how Leaf fans overvalue their players yet it takes the sun and the moon to acquire any defenceman if your TOR according to the ppl on here.
