BOESER TRADE
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>joshelkin</b></div><div>I'm not sure Boeser is, probably the only way you'd get him though via OS route. I think even though Wilde was a 2nd round pick he and Wahlstrom have a ton of promise where ideally I'd like to hold onto them. With the 4 1st's we have no idea where they'll end up, but it's clearly more of a crapshoot than giving up known pieces
Still don't hate the trade. It's close and would probably get done. But personally I'd just hit them with the same contract via OS and pay the 4 firsts instead to acquire Boeser</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>linehan10</b></div><div>Would you say Boeser is an RFA worthy of a 4 1st sheet? I think that title falls only to Marner, Point and Rantanen, maybe Aho before he signed. But yes, this is a lot - probably the value of 3.5 firsts I’d say. Even though I’m game for an offer sheet I’ll never get over how much four firsts sounds like</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>joshelkin</b></div><div>I meant 4 1st's - compared to the package you gave up it's probably "more" just because we know what we have there
Edit: And not necessarily Boeser. Any RFA</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>linehan10</b></div><div>Yeah, they have around $4m in space but a roster size of 29, so I’d say maybe they have more like $8m. I bet they find a way to match an offer sheet at $9m and maybe even $10.5m</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>joshelkin</b></div><div>Think Cal apologizes first day? Lol
And I want to say I like it but damn. That's a lot. Almost better to hit an OS and give up the unknown picks there, no?</div></div>
Boeser and McCvoy are the two guys in the league that cannot be offer sheeted so this is the only way to go. As a Canucks Fan I love Brock but my got that is an absolute Haul for him and would have a hard time saying no expecially because a RHD is expendable now, we replace out 1st lost in the Miller deal which could be a lottery pick. Beauvillier is a good player and I absolutely love Wahlstrom and he will replace Brock.

Nylander and Connor
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Wow, isn't that a lot to pay for Connor? Can't you spend 8m on a UFA this year or next and keep your picks.</div></div>
Honestly I would see him on the same level as Aho and to be honest I prefer him over Laine. He has more of the 200 ft speed and Tenacity the Canucks are looking for.
As far as the Leafs trade (I know you are a leafs fan) what are your thoughts on that?

35pts in 66 games as the top line c 2 seasons ago (43 pace - 3rd liner production)
59 pts in 80 games (avg 2c production)
40pts in 69 games (57 pts pace - avg 2c production)
Avg that production and it’s 47.25 pts/full season. He is a middle six forward. And an overpaid one (I dId retain so let’s just say middle six)
Therefore look at the Shaw trade for comparison on what you want (if you are going to retain about 900k)
Shaw pretty much got a 2nd and 4th. Kulikov and vallatti cancel each other out. Therefore I actually paid more than chi did for Shaw
I also asked a Columbus fan if this was fine before posting it and he said yes. You have the cap space to stomach kulikov so I threw him and vallatti in.</div></div>
The above comment was for the Tanev trade

They can offer anything less than 4.2 for 5 years and roughly more than 8 for 5-6 years. The only one they will not be able to do is the 1st and 3rd and the 1st 2nd and 3rd offer sheets

What for? Some scraps left over in FA? Canucks don't really have pieces they can trade to bring in a top 6. Maybe Vegas with Reilly but that's highly doubtful. They have stocked their Cupboards and now it is time to start going after it. No use wasting away like Edmonton is doing with McDavid and Drai.... The bottom 6 is filled out, the goalie situation is filled now it is time to get that one guy in the top 6 to put them over the top to start competing for a top 3 in the division.

Even if they'd offer sheet for one 1st, they still can't do it, because their 2020 1st cannot be moved at the moment.</div></div>
You're wrong its 2 first rounders in 2 of the 3 years. So yes they can hence why Capfriendly allowed it to go through. These guys are on top of it.

Doesn't matter how much someone makes and that they chose to come to your organization over another. If they are not able to make a spot for themselves on the roster then where are they going to go? The minors.
This has nothing to do with not caring about anyone as a person. Everyone knows sports are a business and these guys get paid great money to do something they love. If you cannot keep up with the level of play then what is your purpose on being on the Ice over someone that does it better than you? That's just the way things are.

On a serious note-I think I'd stay away from Gards and save yourself the $6 mil/year. He's a very good dman, but you have Edler and Hughes on the left side already, and, while I wouldn't rely on Hughes to eat massive minutes for 82 games, you could fill that hole with a cheaper veteran on a 1-2 year deal to ease him in.
I do like the idea of you guys offer-sheeting someone like Connor though, mainly because it's not Marner or Aho.</div></div>
Yeah you are probably right especailly with Tryamkin in the mix for close to the end of the season who I would love to see in the mix on the left side. Wouldn't mind just having Sautner fill in in the mean time.

They could buy him out but the first 2 years he is making basically the same as he is on the roster. After the 2 years it isn't that bad so i guess all depends on what the owners think.

I dont think so really. Ranger's fans have been on board with this trade before in my other posts so doubtful. And compare Boeser to Karlsson who just signed for 6 x 8. That is a contract comparable except Karlsson plays C a more important position. I do not see the underpayment at all in 6.75

Not one of the 31 NHL teams will ever get Tryamkin out of Vancouver unless They get a Bonified top 6 winger (Ehlers, Nylander etc) in return. Not for a Mediocre D man like Zaitsev this includes other 5/6 Dmen.

That doesn't sound like a great trade tbh. And the Avs aren't desperate for forwards so an injured Bae, overrated Sutter, and 'last-shot-at-making-an-impact' Leivo aren't going to sway the balance
VGK puts Clarkson on LTIR so his caphit is, for the most part, gone.. and the trade becomes Hutton's rights (a 4/5 Dman) for Miller. When Kevin Hayes rights were only worth a 5th rd pick...</div></div>
Leivo and Virtanen are similar so Insert a 1st rounder (which i swapped for the mass of retained salary and 3 NHL players) and there's a similar deal to what was on the table at the draft.
As far as the Hutton/Miller trade. Hayes was going to be a UFA no? Where as Hutton is still an RFA.

Absolutely not. When a 1st and Virtanen was about to get you Barrie and the 10OA gets you 3OA + Seabs (Can't believe Benning said no TBH seabs isnt THAT bad) then each of these trades are fair value. Heck i should add Motte or Granlund to that VGK deal and ask for Gusev as well. The value is there for Barrie especially for a guy who they will probably lose to FA anyways so why not get some guys back that can help in return all for around 2 million each.
