How many center's can you find that are 22 and put up 20-25 goals and 45 assist a year?</div></div>
GMhockey99. I disagree with lot of your posts, but this trade has lots of logic. Blues need a centre. Oilers need a sniper. RHN can move back to centre for Oilers. With the trade forget Kassian. Oilers retain 500,000 then the cap is equal.

OHL playoff MVP at 18, ranked as the 6th overall prospect by Corey Pronman and Bob McKenzie, but sure he’ll be a career AHLer.

Thank you for your comments.
I assure you Botterill would not make this trade. I think he believes Okposo will fully recover from his near death injury, that Nylander will develop into a top 6 forward and Draisaitl, L. and Lucic, M. salaries are not in line with the direction he wants to take the Sabres.
NO DEAL!!! :(

Yes, but Toronto isn't going to be able to keep Matthews, Nylander, and Marner. The best option is sell high on Matthews with his value.

Not saying it's good or bad, I don't know what I would do, but the deal isn't horrible. I think Toronto would at least think have about it. Strome and Crouse make me nervous, so I would probably say no, but if they use the $ to sign Tavares, they are better than than they are now, with a ton of assets...
Chychrun - 1st (16th overall - 2016)
Crouse - 1st (11th overall - 2015)
Strome - 1st (3rd overall - 2015)
Domi - 1st ( 12th overall - 2012)
2018 1st rd pick (5th overall - Likely a VERY good player)
Dvorak - 2nd rd pick

I believe Arizona overpaid in this trade. Strome still has potential, yes he hasn't made an impact, but he's still young and has loads of potential left. Chychrun is solid, and like Strome, still has loads of potential. Same goes for Dvorak. Crouse is a big guy that adds a defensive game to the Leafs lineup. Domi has made an impact, and will be great in Toronto. The 1st can turn into anything. However, if Arizona is getting their #1 center, Stepan has to be going the other way. 5 stars, this is a trade I can see Toronto taking, especially when they need to sign Nylander and Marner.

Matthews is so overrated. Marner is the best player on that team. I’d probably score 40 goals too if I sat in the crease and waited for the puck to arrive perfectly on my stick

Jesperi Kotkaniemi at 3?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>If the Habs draft Veleno or Kotkaniemi with the 3rd overall, they are even dumber than I thought. Its BPA or trade down! This isn't rocket science. As long as there is more than 1 team interested in getting Zadina in the top 10, you'll have a trade get done. even if they underpay to move up and only throw in a 2nd rounder, at least you'll still get the player you wanted to take anyway plus an extra for moving down.</div></div>
But what if no one wants to play ball? Or what if you're sure that Kotkeniemi or Veleno is the right player and is undervalued? The draft is such a crapshoot that as long as you're sure what you're drafting is going to be a very good player, there's an argument for being absolutely sure you get the kid you want.

2011 - Zibanejad
Ummm yeah I'll take the picks any day of the week. I didn't even do the two 2nd rounders. You are right this isn't the NFL, the NHL is full of players not drafted in the top 3 who are superstars also. Moving down to 6th is not a big deal as the Habs would certainly get a positional need instead of the BPA. they could take Wahlstrom, Kotkaniemi, Veleno, Tkachuk etc and then have 3 other pciks to land another good player. That's why Detroit WONT do it. They aren't giving that all away just to draft another players brother, even if he will be a good player. Boqvist, Bouchard or whoever they take at 6 will also be a really good player. Not too mention the 3 other picks they'd have.
The jump from 6th to 3rd is only big if you need a skilled winger. Otherwise your just getting a good young player at a position that is the easiest to find without having to draft that talent. (winger) We're not talking about Ovechkin talent here. Svechnikov and Zadina are good but they aren't that good. (Most likely)</div></div>
I get your point but to be far: Add Toews 3 OA... All 3OA are great 60pts+ type of player.
Low 1st: yes every year you get some good surprise= 3 example per year out of 20 picks... how many never played NHL... 3x more! still a high risk by percentage.
Same with any top 10 higher than 3... probably 20% of them would have a great impact like 50-60pts... Other 80% would be MID 6 forward as example... not TOP line.
But I agree... it depends of the needs... if Svech fall down 3OA... I could seriously see Detroit doing a crazy move like that.
Save $$$ Nyq, Mantha RFA, 6OA for Chucky+ 3OA.
Det line would look like:
AA- Zett- Chucky
Svech LW- Larkin- Svech RW
Bertz- Neilsen- Abdel

Jesperi Kotkaniemi at 3?
He would be a great fit but you can't do this with your 3OA... you will need to trade down from 6 to 10 (Det,Van,Chic,NRY,EDM) as he is ranked around 10OA.
Maybe
Det: 3OA for AA + 6OA.
Van: Hutton LHD+ 7OA for 3OA
Chi: Saad+8OA for Shaw +3OA
NYR: Names+ 9OA for 3OA
EDM: Drai+10OA for Pacc + 3OA... THE BIG TRADE!!! :cool
