Love it. Artyom Levshunov is also looking like a stud defenseman the Hawks should take if they get a top five pick in 2024.

Chicago is a unique rebuild now, they aren't a rebuild, they are a build around. How do you build around Bedard, who do you bring in to make him successful. I all but guarantee you will be disappointed in this offseason because your GM is thinking the right way, we are getting a once in a life time talent, we can't f this up.</div></div>
Well, first off, this is Lukas Reichel slander and secondly it’s 100% still a rebuild. You’re putting the cart before the horse. There’s still a lot of work to be done. Davidson will make sure Bedard has talent around him, but it won’t be through trading away draft capital (unless it’s a literally steal of a trade). There’s enough skilled players that can be found in either cap dumps or UFA that he can look to.

But if we were to add Killorn AND Domi or players of their caliber, and rolling 3 fairly skilled lines under Richardson, they could probably do a lot better than most people would think. I'm not worried about making the playoffs. But, I am worried about slipping out of the top 5, or, god forbid, the top 10 next year. haha. There are still a lot of great players next year too. But the caliber and depth is looking to be significantly lower at every tier.</div></div>
Richardson will for sure have this team working hard and stealing wins. Just gotta hope Mrazek can tank command us to another top 3 pick. I really need Eiserman on Bedard’s wing.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Yeah. I've thought about that a lot too. But, with Bedard likely coming straight into the NHL and likely being utilized as a center, I'd rather not push Guttman (as well as Raddysh and Johnson) down the lineup. Because if you bring back Domi and want to roll that line, what do you end up with? A top 9 like this, maybe...
Someone - Bedard - Someone
Reichel - Domi - Kurashev
Johnson - Guttman - Raddysh
Idk... I guess KD will just give Richardson the bodies and let the coaching staff figure all of that out, anyway. But, I find it hard to strike that balance between creating competition to make the roster and being loose and not blocking opportunities for young players and prospects. I also worry that this would be too good of a lineup for the rebuild, thus lowering the quality of our draft capital.
Do you then start Bedard on the 3rd line and shelter him a bit while he acclimates? I don't know if that is possible. Like most people, I think he is going to step right in and be a threat and start the season on the top line.</div></div>
Yeah that definitely makes sense, I’d rather have Guttman getting bigger minutes as a 2C over resigning Domi. Plus it’s probably a lot more entertaining to have Reichel and Bedard feeding passes to each other.
I don’t think we have to worry about them improving their standings that much though. I mean the Oilers finished 29th in the season after they drafted McDavid. That team had Hall, Draisatl, Eberle, and RNH to go along with him.

Leafs should not give up Minten just to dump Murray. He’s gonna be a great bottom six guy and I wouldn’t be surprised if he developed into a middle six forward if he keeps developing his offensive skill.

I like these moves a lot, although I would like to keep Kurashev and resign Domi. That Reichel-Domi-Kurashev line only got three games together last season, but they looked pretty good at generating offense. Although if the Hawks can get a second pick in the top ten and get their hands on Ryan Leonard that’s a slam dunk.

Keller is worth more than that imo and as a Hawks fan, I wouldn’t be comfortable trading away Kaiser. He’s one of our defensive prospects that seem most likely to pan out and be a top 4 guy.

I’d rather take our chances with whoever they draft in 2024. Plus I really like Eiserman, so I’d hate to miss out on him :grimace . I get the sentiment with the level of talent Michkov has, but a lot can happen in three years and he’s not even a guarantee to come over.

Supporting Bedard
The only good moves here for the Hawks are trading Mitchell for a third and resigning Domi. Everything else is just wasting cap space and playing time on players that do nothing to help build for the future. I could see possibly giving up a second for Hall, but he would have to waive to come here.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Oh, Murray stinks. He and Mrazek would be co-tank commanders. But the reality is it doesn't take anything close to a 1st to dump a 1 year $4.7m cap hit. If it's Murray and the Boston 1st, Leafs are getting back a late 2nd, early 3rd in return. From Hawks, mist likely Rangers '23 2nd (#56) or Hawks '23 3rd (#69).
My feeling is Hawks will be more aggressive than last season in free agency to support Bedard. Like I said, love the Domi idea. I'd like to see Hawks make a run at Bunting as well. Like his game and he has that edge to stick up for Bedard when necessary</div></div>
Bunting or Reaves imo. I want locker room guys. I also wouldn’t mind overpaying for someone like Killorn. Veteran presence with Stanley Cup habits. He gets a bag and a lot less taxing season with the Hawks.

Hawks can probably get a second just by taking Bailey, no need for Raddysh to be included.
Same goes for the Granlund trade, no reason for Guttman to be in there. They also can get more if they’re taking him, they got a second and a fourth for Zaitsev.

During Draft day amp after
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rktkt66</b></div><div>From a Buffalo POV, that deal is an emphatic 'yes' and I imagine the Sabres would even add a medium prospect or depth player - but the questions are: 1) do the Hawks want to trade Murphy rather than keep him as mentor for their youth?; and, to a lesser degree, 2) does Murphy have Buffalo on his M-NTC list? If so, if the Hawks came to him with the intent to move him, I'd assume that his history with Granato would favor Murphy agreeing to a Buffalo trade.</div></div>
Trading Murphy is probably best for the Hawks. Davidson has talked about letting the young guys grow into leadership roles, so I could see Murphy being traded to clear the deck for someone like Vlasic or Korchinski to take the reigns. The Hawks also need to give more NHL ice time to their defensive prospects to see who actually has NHL regular potential. Although I would like the Hawks to try and package Murphy with either Tampa’s 1st or a pair of their seconds to get Buffalo’s 1st this year (assuming it doesn’t move too high up in the lottery).
I think even if Murphy does have Buffalo on his M-NTC, where the Sabres are at as a team and the Granato connection probably can change his mind.

Rest of the season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Mitchell is gonna go somewhere else and be a solid defenseman. It's pretty sad the way CHI has utilized him. I really think CHI should trade Murphy and either scratch Zaitsev or buy out his contract. Give the two spots on the right side behind Jones to Mitchell and Regula, let them acclimate and get serious minutes and be put in a position to succeed before they torch their value and CHI tosses them out for nothing. Also, why haven't Phillips and Mitchell been playing as a pair? Shelter or them if you have to, but their chemistry last year in Rockford was undeniable.</div></div>
I thought for sure Phillips and Mitchell being paired up was going to be the plan when they were both up, but that never really came to fruition. (Moneypuck says they played a total of 11.5 minutes together) I like what Murphy brings for the younger guys in experience and mentorship, but you’re right, those top 4 minutes are essential to developing the young guys. Davidson seems willing to retain on longer contracts, so I wouldn’t mind seeing what you can get for Murphy at 50% retained. All we can hope for is that Mitchell’s ice time jumps on this final stretch.
