How is it a steal? They expire next year, they can just wait and let them go without having to pay and its not like they fighting for a playoff spot. They could also just wait until next deadline and retain on one of them to possibly get a return.

You need more to move Campbell, that's 3 years after this one. And I doubt EDM don't do some sort of protection on that pick, top 5-ish.

I can definitely see Barron being moved at some point, but it's not gonna be a 1v1, most likely Habs are gonna add him to a bigger package.

Mitchkov not arrived yet
Habs are not contending, they won't trade young players and picks for older players. Especially one pretty injury proned. Not an interesting contract either. Just not a fit with Habs, timeline or anything.
(Norlinder has had a nice progression and I would much rather see him continue on that road rather than trading him for something we have no need for)

As I said, I really don't think Habs are moving Reinbacher. Not a question of whether the value is there or not. Dach would probably be part of the trade no doubt.
I also think Pettersson is more like 10th in the league in term of center. McDavid, Mackinnon, Matthews, Crosby, Hughes, Point, Eichel, Barkov are better imo.

So the canucks wont be able to get his true value. A trade just past the Eichel deal is what idi imagine, where
Krebs=Farrell
1st=1st
2nd<1st
Tuch replaced by Kidney and Harris where i lean Kidney and Harris (tuch was no valued as highly then)
Could I be wrong? Of course and i guess we will need to see. Reinbacher + Farrell + 1st + more is 100% what his true value is imo. I agree there. Its just all about leverage and my gut tells me he never could get his true value</div></div>
To be fair, I don't think Farrell is worth much until he proves something. I'm not saying he won't but he's not worth much yet. Pettersson will give the Canucks a much bigger haul than what you are offering though. Dach, Guhle, 1st 2024, 1st 2025 is probably something that would look more a deal that could happen but I don't think Habs and Canucks are a good trading match. Vancouver should look elsewhere tbh

Ya I don't think so no, no way mtl move Reinbacher after passing on Michkov/Benson. And at this point, Dach is starting to look more like a 1C than Suzuki. At least, he seems to have more potential.

Curious would Habs fans like this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xspyrit</b></div><div>You'd be able to recoup a 2nd and maybe more for Kubalik at the deadline. Same for Brannstrom, you'd be able to make a nice profit at some point
Note that If Dorion didn't mess things up, I would never look to do that
But the point for Montreal is that despite the LD prospects and the UFA status of Kubalik, you don't have to keep players forever, you buy low sell high since you are in a rebuild. Dorion is easy to benefit from so the trade is made for that. Unless you think Ylonen and Kovacevic would return more than two 2nds or something like that?</div></div>
I just don't think MTL has any interest in doing that, sure Kubalik could either help the top 9 or help getting some more picks down the road but Montreal isn't in any rush compared to Ottawa.
I don't think they wanna move Kovacevic when he looked like one of our better dman during the pre-season. I'm not saying he's an elite dman don't get me wrong, but teams normally value Big RD that can play physical and defensive more than a small LD with some offensive upside.
I also don't think Montreal has any interest in moving a pick for players we have no need for. We already have a bunch of forwards, and there's Dvorak injured. As for Ylonen, he probably doesn't have much value, but I don't think habs wants another LD whether it's a fair deal or not.

Totally agree, habs aren't moving picks for guys we don't need. Wouldn't mind moving Ylonen tho, I don't really see a future where he's a Hab.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caufield</b></div><div>I'd argue VGK didn't, Eichel was just a ppg guy last year, more of a top 35 guy than a top 20. With MTL's defense I do think we can win the cup with having 2 80 point guys (2 of 4 Slaf, Dach, Cole, Zuki) and 4-5 60 pt guys</div></div>
Eichel clears anyone on the Habs roster though..
Look maybe I'm wrong, and it'll be possible with those forwards but it seems like wishful thinking, which isn't exactly reality. But I guess we'll have our answer when they will be ready for competing in playoffs. Cause in the end, season is fun and all but what really matters is the playoffs.
We also have a really terrible goalie tandem..

polishing the lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caufield</b></div><div>I do have to disagree with you. Unless you define elite as top 15 forward in the league, MTL has elite talent. Cole will definitely be elite, most likely being a consistent top-10 goal scorer for a while. Slaf is still to early to tell, but he could end up being a top 10 winger in the league if everything goes right. Newhook, Suzuki should be good top 6 guys, putting 60 and 75 pts respectively. And personally, I see Dach becoming the projected Getzlaf he was drafted for</div></div>
Cole is probably the closest we have. Dach is indeed looking great, but too soon to tell for sure. Suzuki I agree about 60-75pts-ish, but Newhook it's way too soon to tell, 1 game isn't enough.
But I do mean top 15-20 in the league. Look at the previous cup winners, except STL and BOS, they all had top offensive talent. (Eichel, Crosby, Malkin, Kane, Toews, Kucherov, Stamkos, Point, Kopitar, Mackinnon, Rantanen, Ovechkin, Backstrom). That's what I mean by top offensive talent.
Of course there is exception sometimes, but most likely you will need someone to carry the load and I don't think Montreal has that. They need that 1 top offensive talent, it's just crazy to me that since 2012 we had 5 top 10 picks and we still couldn't pull it off.

Keep in mind we will draft in the top 10 this year and the forward we’ll get will have elite potential</div></div>
Look, I love Caufield, maybe he will maybe he won't. We'll see. Slow down on Slaf, he needs time and consistency. Also slow down on Newhook, 1 game doesn't make a season.
I honestly don't trust our management to draft an elite offensive talent. They don't seem to be interested by that, they rather play safe.
