v 30 - Keeping space to sign Dahlin and Jokiharju
Reinhart is the best player in the trade for sure. Hopefully Adams is a better negotiator than Botterill was (which isn't saying much) and Reinhart does not have Skinner's expectations of a 8 year x $9 M contract. This trade assumes that Adams and Reinhart aren't close in their expectations for a deal and/or Reinhart wants to go back to the West Coast. Keeping enough cap space to sign Dahlin long-term without gutting the rest of the team is my concern.

Marner year 2
I agree with prioritizing Dahlin's next contract. If Reinhart and Botterill are far apart on dollars, term, or both, the Sabres should trade him (Reinhart) now so they can lock up Dahlin long term by next offseason.

Center Depth and One Big Trade
Thanks Skyraider. I'm from Indiana, but I'm drawn to smaller market teams that keep fighting despite the odds stacked in favor of the larger markets. I got a chance to visit Buffalo for the first time last summer - took the family there and Niagara Falls and we loved it. The naval park, some nice hikes (Chestnut Park), and we ate at The Hatch on probably the most beautiful sunny day ever. I am still learning hockey, but love it - it has supplanted football for my favorite fall-winter sport. I think I have listened to just about every Sabres game the past 3 years - a rough stretch, but things have to get better. I hope to see my first Sabres game in Detroit or Columbus next season. Would love to see a game at KBC some time (bucket list), but unfortunately the round trip is a little too far with work and family commitments. The atmosphere for those Buffalo-Toronto games at KBC sounds amazing on the radio.

I agree that Reinhart is better and he is also younger. My concern honestly is Botterill's ability to negotiate a good deal that will still leave room for Dahlin after next season. I would rather prioritize Dahlin's next contract over Reinhart especially so if Botterill and Reinhart appear to be far apart.
I honestly did not number the lines on the defensive pairs, so I am fine with moving the defensive pairs to whatever is appropriate. Also it is probably not ideal to have Montour playing again on the Left. I like DeMelo a lot - maybe he can play the off hand better than Montour and they could switch sides.
Thanks for the feedback. I still have a lot to learn about hockey.

Eichel To NY Strome for Strome
Well, considering this is Jason Botterill it just might work. I hear he likes to trade quality for quantity.

Dont Just Do Something Stand There
Point taken on the Anaheim deal. I'll try again.
I am a still a newbie when it comes to hockey. I have lost all interest in pro football the past 5 years or so, and hockey has helped fill the void. I have no connection to Buffalo (I am actually from Indiana - not exactly a hockey state!), but have adopted the Sabres as my team - I like to cheer for the small market underdogs who keep fighting despite the odds stacked against them, and Buffalo fits that to a T. Still hoping to see the Sabres play in person - possibly @ Detroit or Columbus next fall. Seeing a game at Key Bank Center would be even better, but it's a little too far with work and family commitments.
jdfitz77 - I recognize your name from hockeybuzz and respect your opinions there. You stood up for the LOG line and I couldn't agree more. I hope we can get Larry and Z back for a reasonable amount. Yes, Okposo is overpriced, but he at least found a useful role with that line.

This assumes (hopes) the Sabres get Dell in free agency, but I expect the Sharks will re-sign him.
