I speak for all Blues fans when I say this: take care of Perron. You've got a solid top-6 winger who plays like a man possessed on the power play.

I'd be fine with Lindgren getting the nod for the backup spot. Let's see how Chucky Sideburns does with a larger sample size.

(STL/DET) - Walman, Sundqvist for Witkowski, Leddy
I...actually don't think this is that bad. It's not great...but Sundqvist has been on a decline since the cup win, and Berube isn't too keen on Walman. Plus, the Blues play a game that Leddy likes to play.
Detroit still wins, but this isn't the absolute fleecing that a lot of people are saying it is.

Edmonton Oilers signed Evander Kane (1 Year / $2,108,696 AAV)
HOW THE F*** DOES THIS WAD STILL HAVE A JOB?
Oh right, the Oilers brass would sell their souls for success. Anyhow, this deal is a PR nightmare. Kane isn't a bad player, but he's an awful human being. The Oilers apparently think the solution to their current woes is literal cancer.

(OTT/STL) - Brown and cond. 2022 4th for Sanford
The Blues had to get below the cap somehow, and they did with this. Sanford was on an expiring contract anyhow, and was a bit overpaid to boot. This also gives the Blues some flexibility in regards to the Tarasenko situation. Plus, the package they received for Sanford wasn't that bad all things considered.
Ottawa gets a good depth forward that can produce during the season, and could probably give them some assets at the trade deadline. They also didn't have to give up much to acquire him.
This just seems like a fair deal for all parties involved.

St. Louis Blues signed Colton Parayko (8 Years / $6,500,000 AAV)
I voted no.
I hope Parayko's back injuries are in the past, but this looks to be an absolute anchor of a contract. If the Blues are getting 2016-2019 Parayko, this might work out. But this team has made me so pessimistic in regards to injuries that I can't see it happening.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
Doug Armstrong is a wizard. It's the only explanation as to how he's been able to get quality talent at bargain-bin prices.

St. Louis Blues signed Brandon Saad (5 Years / $4,500,000 AAV)
Term is a tad risky, but that AAV is a steal.
Saad is an efficient offense-driving 2nd-line winger with good 5v5 metrics, which is something the Blues needed after they let Schwartz and Hoffman walk.
Doug Armstrong is a literal wizard. Change my mind.

Seattle Kraken signed Jaden Schwartz (5 Years / $5,500,000 AAV)
I'll miss Schwartzy, but there was no way the Blues were keeping him.
Seattle, you better pray that this pays off. Schwartz is a talented winger and is a marquee player, but he is a very on/off sort of guy and has some injury concerns. If you get 2019-20 Schwartz, this is a good deal. But if last year wasn't a fluke, y'all are in trouble.

(STL/NYR) - Blais, 2nd for Buchnevich
HE CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT
Doug Armstrong is a wizard. That is the only explanation at this point. He's absolutely fleeced at least four different teams now.
Some examples:
Ryan Reaves for Oskar Sundqvist and a 1st from the Pens
Lehtera and some picks for Brayden Schenn from the Flyers
Some uselees junk for Ryan O'Reilly from the Sabres
And now Samuel Blais and a pick for Pavel Buchnevich from the Rangers
Doug Armstrong: the GM every team dreams of.

Is Doug Armstrong actually psychic? Seriously, the only explanation for how he can put together deals like this is that Army is capable of predicting the future.
In all seriousness, this is a win for the Note. Army making a good case for GM of the Year already.

Detroit Red Wings signed Robby Fabbri (2 Years / $2,950,000 AAV)
Take it from a Blues fan, dude's got talent. His skating and hands are to die for. When he's healthy and on, he's a potential top-line scorer (did you see the 15-16 postseason?) and Detroit know this. The issues are twofold.
1: He's had massive scoring droughts in the past. He's a bit too inconsistent.
2: He's made of porcelain. He can't stay healthy to save his life. Detroit has been lucky so far with his health, but when will that luck run out?
He's very boom or bust. I'm erring on bust, but that's because I've seen him miss the better part of half his playing career with injuries.
