good gravy dude, how do these keep getting worse?
None of these are even close to good for the Leafs.

A trio of horrid deals for the Leafs. Team is worse this year and in the future. Seems to a pattern by the author.

I think they're happier with Kerfoot off the Tavares line, I think he's doing ok on that 3rd line. They might be interested for the cap space?

Ottawa Senators signed Artem Zub (4 Years / $4,600,000 AAV)
Very team-friendly contract for a solid RD. Not too expensive and not too long. Zub might not be a 1RD on a championship team, but he is still a good partner for Chabot.

Awesome signing for a complimentary player for Chabot and solidifies top 2 D.

Nashville blockbuster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leafs101</b></div><div>think we could use a defenceman (on the right side, not Ekholm) but absolutely not at this cost, it's not a panic</div></div>
Do we though? When all are healthy, who do we take out?

Sandin-Liljegren
Gio-Holl
Benn-Timmins
Or any combination isn't bad at all. Not sure who I would want to add over any of those guys. That's available anyways. Most of the usuals just aren't good or don't fit the system at all. Or cost way too much for a marginal improvement, or way way too much for someone who really moves the needle. More scoring without sacrificing our team defence is the biggest need I see. If somehow we could get ROR, that would be a game changer for TO. He would create a 3rd line that could make TO impossible to match up against.
On home ice Matthews could be sent out against 3rd liners all night and destroy them, JT as well. Because we can match ROR against the other teams best and generally expect to be above water. On the road, ROR's line would likely get some softer competition as teams try to match up against Matthews. And It would get really easy competition.
That is what I want to see

Detroit declines. We don't have a replacement RHD for Hronek and the Wings are very high on Soderblom.

2022-23 Leafs - Not Captain Obvious BUT the ex-Leafs that are gone---OUCH
I've been critical of Leafs mismanagement of the cap but some of your narrative just ain't right.
Hyman signed for 5.5m not 5.0. No way he was going to sign for 4.35 X 8 with the Leafs as you suggest.
Kadri wasn't traded for Kerfoot. Kadri was traded for Kerfoot and Barrie. I didn't hear much criticism from Leafs fans on CF, because any RHD in the league is what the Leafs need. PS. I thought Barrie was worse Leaf Dman in his one season with the Leafs.
Leafs fans seem to have an obsession Seattle Dman. Really is Larsson that much difference to drool over? And Larsson was a UFA. He doesn't sign with the Leafs just because you want him.
Don't think you understand the concept of free agency. Players can sign with any team. You think Schenn signs with the Leafs just because you offered the same money as the Canucks? Who knows maybe other teams offered Schenn over 1m, but he wanted to live in Vancouver. Same with UFAMarchment. Not a god given right the the Leafs sign him for the same money as any other team.
Steeves is a LWer. Anderson is Marlie and has been unclaimed on waivers for a reason.

In my opinion, expending all of those assets to acquire Mitch Marner instead of a LhD of equal prominence would be a horrible, and obvious, mistake for Los Angeles.
The other two trades favor the Maple Leafs.

The only thing that matters is how many teams Kane waives for and that sets the price based on the bidding war; nothing is relevant beyond that

For Bottom Pair he is a fantastic defensemen though in Vancouver he has been forced to play a very heavy role. He hits a ton & is still decent enough defensively for 850k you can’t really complain, He is better than Holl

I think if they try and go rebuild, they’d rather re-sign schenn. Perfect Vet to have on a rebuilding team. Great character and leadership, cheap to have, will play heavy minutes, but doesn’t have the skill to push your team over the edge. Can shelter/protect young players. Keeping him is better than using him as a throw in or trading him for a like a 4th or whatever
