I've actually scoured the NHL rule book regarding buyouts and there is no provision limiting a team to any number of buyouts at a given time (I figured there would be one). While its never been done before, a team could have 10 buyouts on the books if they really hated their owner's money.

Johnson waives for the expansion draft, it nullifies it so they can trade him anywhere. Seattle wouldn't take him if he did waive. And COL has Girard, Byram and Toews ahead of him on the depth chart at LD. I know he's a popular player in Denver, but I cannot find the sense in keeping Graves, bc if they move him to his off hand, would you bench Johnson and have him play behind Makar and Timmins? Gauthier aint bad there's just no spot for him on the Rangers roster and the coach benches him for a month if he takes a single penalty.

The sabres org (not the fans) deserve a ROR 2.0 trade return. How many times has this guy openly talked **** about his own team's FO. When the Sabres lose Eichel to whatever team, its going to be a painful few years after when they completely restart their rebuild. IDC if he goes to the rangers (I think there are better alternative for the rangers), but the dude sounds like he's ready to just sit out until he's traded.

You can include Georgiev in the deal, does that fix it? Pretty clear Buffalo needs a rebuild if they're giving up Eichel, so aiming for a #1 dman today makes no sense, they need futures.</div></div>
Eichel + Skinner to the rangers for the 15th overall pick confirmed.

That guy is trolling. It is a really good value for the sabres, but the rangers would *never* do that trade. Its the same reason the Sabres are a garbage pail organization; they thought Eichel surrounded by mostly mediocre players would bring success. Those 5 players and 2 firsts will provide more value for the rangers than Eichel ever could.

Why would a bad team (picking in the top of the draft) trade for Eichel? He can't elevate the sabres past dead last in the league, late firsts are the best Buffalo is gonna get for him. (Most teams have scouts so they don't need the first overall pick to draft good nhl talent)

Rangers aren't trading Kreider, let alone before year 2 of a 6 year deal. His AAV isn't just about his on ice play it has a ton to do with his leadership and lockerroom presence. You can roll your eyes at that, but it is what it is. Regardless, that trade package is ridiculous.

I think Brisebois' mistake was trying to move the guys he wanted to move first like Johnson and Gourde instead of the guys teams would want like Killorn and Palat and now as teams are using up what cap space they have its going to be even tougher to move these guys.
Gonna be interesting to see how this plays out.</div></div>
No teams want to help Tampa. They wont claim him. TJ doesnt get moved without a 1st rd pick attached.
Also, idc how much loyalty these guys have, if someone offers Cirelli or Sergechev a super frontloaded 6.4milx5yr offersheet (or higher), I can't see them not signing. Especially Cirelli (tampa will struggle to offer him max value in 2 yrs when Point's contract is also up). Its about the time-value of money. A ton of money now is worth wayyyy more than "a little bit now and maybe some more later as long as you dont get hurt or regress or something else unpredictable happens."

TJ is gonna cost a 1st for no retained salary to move. At least. Marc Staal cost a 2nd for 1 year. Clearly everyone wants to give Tampa a hard time, so they're gonna be a-holes.
Killorn doesn't fetch a 2nd. I'd say 3rd at best. probably less. Not that he isn't good enough, the GMs are just being a-holes this offseason

Only works if Johnson gets claimed
Tyler Johnson is good. His contract isn't great. I just feel like no one is going to claim him to help the Bolts out. If he goes to minors (where he will definitely report), the bolts would have to pay another team to take him off their hands. Why take an asset for free when you can easily get paid to do the same thing.
Also, knowing the bolts situation, NO TEAM is going to offer a first to help the reigning cup champs out of cap hell to get a winger on a bad contract. Between Killorn, Yanni Gourde, and Johnson expect to trade at least one 1st.
Both Sergy and Cirelli are underpaid. Someone will offer Cirelli a 6milx5 ($14 mil more) and Sergy will easily get the same thing, probably more. I know youre just trying to make it work, but be a little realistic.

Wait for him to clear waivers, and they can get him with salary retained and an asset included. Also, DO NOT bail out your rivals. I don't understand why any team in the league would want to help the Stanley Cup champs out if their awful bind, for free.

Loyalty or not, theyre professionals, and if they get hurt in 2 years and never recover, they just lost millions of dollars. That's a future for them and their family. They aren't going to take a cheapo deal just to help out the mismanagement of their bosses. Turning down $30mil for $13.5 million is just stupid, and no agent will tell their client to do that.

The Lightning have to be careful though, because if Tyler Johnson complains to the league and they investigate and find they planned this and they circumvented his contract, they could block the trade or just take away draft picks from the Lightning for cap circumvention.

The Kapanen trade along with some of your own GM's recent decisions (not trying to be mean, just honest) proves the belief that most NHL GMs are morons and suck at evaluating talent. That being said, Strome is *as bad* as some people make him out to be. Jesper Fast also played on a line with Panarin this year, and couldn't even hit 30 points (his career-high is 33pts). His shooting % was normal and he wasnt on the loaded 1st PP unit. He was bad on edmonton because he was playing with Lucic and Puljujarvi (look up his with/without metrics there). His bad rap comes from his time on a poorly managed team, and all hes done for a year and a half is produce. I'm not saying the Sharks are going to acquire him, but he's not some garbage player. He's probably a top 60 centers in the league.

By buying out Lundqvist and acquiring Nilsson (which OTT probably declines) you effectively managed to save $400k (5.5mil + 2.6mil). Forget Nilsson and you probably get them to take all of Brendan Smith's contract which saves you an extra 1mil you can use elsewhere. Also, no way the rangers are getting a second for eating smith's contract, even with Georgiev.

Eh for a shorter deal he isn't. He's awesome, but hes an RFA in the territory no team would offer sheet (add more value to that and it'd cost a 1st and a 3rd which the rangers would take and run). Maybe do a 5milx3, but thats basically the ceiling.
And idk what's gonna happen with Staal, but he's not getting bought out and I cant see him on ice for them next year.

Only thing I'd say is Sergy contract seems a little low, and I know you did that bc of the cap, but otherwise 9/10
