Idk I think the value is a little off. If it was us giving them Laughton to move up in the first, fine, but also taking back a 6M cap dump as well? I think Van needs to add something

Umm Boston doesn’t have any second round picks in the next 3 years. Through 2025 they only have a first and 2 thirds

Boqvist is definitely the type of player I’d want Danny B to take a chance on but I would say the retention is a little much. I think making Hayes a $5m player is very reasonable for what he provides

Boqvist is solid, but I don't think any team is giving up an arm and a leg to acquire him</div></div>
Columbus was decimated by injuries last year so the whole team was really bad. Bottom pairing guys playing hard top minutes against other teams best players. That’s why Peeke was a minus 40 something. But I was really only saying that Boston really only has like swayman and debrusk of expendable value and that won’t get them very far in terms of contending again next year. Boqvist would definitely cost at least a 2nd. He was the prize of the Seth Jones trade so they won’t give him up for nothing

I do agree tho, a 1st straight up is probably overpay, but with Laughton you know what you are getting and he plays in all situations and all through the lineup. That is valuable to most teams imo.
I would absolutely take wennberg back in a deal. Torts already knows him ( although I don’t know if that is a good or bad thing lol)</div></div>

They aren't going to send a first for Laughton when they could sign a FA to do the same thing and at least control the cost/term of it. I could see them trading a 2nd or 3rd but also dependent a couple of variables - Do they resign RFA Geekie? And can they find someone to take on Wennberg?
Past that I think you don't see them make a move like this until after the 23/24 season when contracts start to come off the books.</div></div>
Fair enough but it is a very weak FA class so that will drive up the cost of those available for signing as well as in trade

They got far in the playoffs and they will want to build on that. That pick will be a late first so whoever they would pick wont play for them for probably 2-4 years

Honestly it doesn’t really matter, you don’t have the assets for them. Unless you are giving up swayman. Bruins are not really in a good spot as an organization. Top two centers are probably retiring. You’re cap strapped now that Pasta got paid. And you have no draft capital over the next couple years

And you didn’t listen to a word I said. It’s an idiotic trade. Flyers lose 3 very valuable assets that could collectively get way more individually than what you could possibly get back for hellebyuck alone. Why not just trade them to different teams directly and get more right away? Why take the chance on what you might get for him. A team acquiring him will want to negotiate an extension to get the most back for him. And even then it won’t be the same as the return for the other guys directly. TDL is mostly for rentals. Sometimes those rentals resign, but not always. The risk is too high. You are hoping for the “kings ransom” . But I’d say it’s not even likely. Deals for a player like this are done in the offseason, not the trade deadline.

In reality you need to use a different player than Mangiapane. He’s not on the same level as the other guys in terms of value so it complicates things

Philly cheesesteaks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckLuck_77</b></div><div>Again, similar to my arguments for keeping Turcotte. The cause of his not being able to play at the NHL level isn't reflective of his skill or ability. Injuries not in his control (blind-sided, predatory hits from 3rd line goons in the AHL playoffs) shouldn't effect his value as long as he has the skill to keep playing. If he wasn't injured, he'd likely be playing top 6 minutes.
But hey, here we are. Turcotte's has his injuries, and Hart has put up a 0.904. Both out of each player's control for various reasons, but both will effect trade value.</div></div>
Not exactly, injuries are a heavy factor into a players value. A lot more risk involved. Hart playing with a different defense in front of him is just a confidence question that a team has the pieces in place to help Hart succeed

You basically have Calgary trading Mangiapane for debrincat so if anything needs to change it’s Calgary adding. And probably drop one of the TOR prospects. Would still need some tweaking though. Interesting idea but very unlikely

Philly cheesesteaks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckLuck_77</b></div><div>I don't disagree with what you're saying. It's very similar to how I view any potential Turcotte trade. His problems haven't been skill/development-based, they've only been injury-based. He's still got a ton of skill and potential, which is why the Kings wouldn't sell low when they can just try to ride out the injuries and see where he lands.
My point was simply in replying to the person that said they want "to start with Byfield", which suggests they think Hart is worth Byfield ++. And that made me laugh because it's so far off base from what a 0.904 goaltender would actually get on the market regardless of "untapped potential" (especially the goalie market, which is generally much softer than the player market).</div></div>
The problem is you are looking at a stat that isn’t truly reflective of Harts play. That’s why analytics came up with the goals saved above expected and save % above expected. Which take into account the team around the goaltender and how much they leave them hanging. And hart is top 10-top15 in those areas. Factor in the fact that he’s only 24 and not even in his prime yet. Put him on a team with a good structure and defense in front of him and the GAA and save % ( team stats) will be at the top of the league

You must be trolling right?
Giving up a 2nd and a 4th to save 1.15M for each of the next 2years is ridiculous. Idc how much better Jake Allen might be, that doesn’t matter to the flyers at this point. It’s actually better that they are worse.
Oh and no shot those EDM deals happen.

The Danny Bri-era
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheMooterus</b></div><div>Faksa isn't supposed to putting up points. He's purely a defensive center. Shoot, he starts over 60% of his shifts in his own end of the rink. His sole task is to shutdown opposing top lines. Stars don't really care if he's lighting up the scoresheet as long as he's able to keep other teams off of it. Had a rough year during the 2021-2022 season, but bounced back very well under DeBoer this year.
Not saying he's untouchable on the trade market or anything, but he's not a "cap dump" like he was at this point last year. He holds value as a good bottom-6, shutdown center that can eat a ton of time on the PK and excels in the faceoff circle.
Sure Laughton would provide more offense for Dallas, but tbh offense isn't really a NEED for them this offseason. They need to upgrade the defensive side of their game and swapping Faksa for Laughton would be counterproductive, especially if they have to give up one of their top prospects, who just had a very good rookie year in the AHL.</div></div>
Fair enough but Laughton does all of what you say Faksa is tasked with and does it better except for face offs. Faksa has like a 1.7% better average for his career. But you’re right, It’s probably not the right deal for these guys

I don’t think it’s a lateral move at all. Faksa has declined the last 3 years and only scored 20 points last year. Laughton on the other hand set a career high of 43 points and was a leader and significant contributor on Canadas team this year. He’s a very effective player who can play up and down the lineup in any role. Faksa is declining and will be at best a 3rd liner to finish out his contract
