ya probably too much money...but shows the money works for a nice player there.
I am a DeMelo fan....but could be someone better, the free agent class is somewhat average so finding a Ceci replacement there might be challenging

The only trades I saw always had him retained...this is for his full cap hit....a 4C for 3 draft picks I think would be a trade a manager would take, I guess since we are both on the internet today, tells me we both dont know for sure

getting a '24 4th for either would be a steal at this point</div></div>
Kulak has been very good for the Oilers....is cost controlled for teams...woudl be surprised he has no value, Oilers tight cap make him a contract to move with Broberg being blocked...On a middle road team he would have good value, on a bad team as a vet leader he would have great value.
Ceci is a good player too....being that he would be UFA at years end, he for sure is flippable retained for better assets and also helps get to cap floor for the year

only 1 Hawks trade in here...
Ceci is an NHL d man and hawks clearly like overpaying guys so they can hit the cap floor. He seems like an absolute option for them who can tehn flip him retained to a team at the deadline as a good rental piece who can play....just not a great fit with Nurse

Gotta pay to move Ceci a bit...Lavoie is not in the plans here and was waiver exempt...gotta pay for retention.
As far as Vatrano...I think its more capitalize on Oilers prospects while they still have some percieved value. Bourgault not impressive 2nd AHL season, Holloway has less points than Connor Brown this year. i know he has missed games, but anytime you are comparing totals to Connor Brown this year, its not good news

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Falcon_talon</b></div><div>I personally don't think tradeing our next 2 1st round picks is the play... And on top of that getting rid of Bourgault. tradeing a 1st for Edmonson (who is a scratch in your line-up) and Dowd which is an ok depth piece is definetely not the play imo.</div></div>
I admittedly like Dowd, so value him....but all WSH fans and insiders saying Dowd could go for a 1st on own.....I do not like Edmondson but Stauff mentioned it on his show...figure a 3rd would be able to be paid ot entice the retention on both and take back Ryan salary....
Not sure I would make the trade, Id prefer just Dowd retained for maybe a 2nd and 4th

Holland is looking to surprise again this year
If WSH retains on Dowd I would get them to retain the max...helps this year to eat up some bonus overage and next year below league min player. cant imagine cost would change materially, maybe a 4th instead of 5th, but helps us out on both sides

Oilers TDL
I like this deadline approach. Only comment is need retained on Dowd to get him at league min cap hit going forward for next year too as need to be able to squeeze in another somewehre.
Also a better back up would be ideal situation in my mind

Oil gotta send Ceci back to make money work, I would accept this trade offer. could upgrade a pick to compensate for Ceci, even though I think if traded he could probably get a 2nd or 3rd pick on his own to a different team

Campbell Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>Campbell will be bought out in the offseason.</div></div>
Not saying it wont happen, but the buzz in market is that they would prefer to trade him and have no dead cap money on the books which is obvious, but all the insiders are saying the same thing so would assume they just pay up to rid themselves, or hope a team like sharks needs money on books to reach cap floor for next few years of tear down

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>Would you rather get 2 - first round assets for Hart OR get 3 - first round assets for Hart and take on Jack Cambell's $5M per year without retention for 3.5 years?
You can move 2-3 first round assets to lose Campbell, or 2-3 first round assets to get Hart. You don't get both.</div></div>
Assume with any Campbell trade, the buyout gets used in the offseason...so essentially paying a couple firsts for some buyout money, which brings acquiring cost more in line with what Draft pick capital costs in NHL market

Just thought hawks still be in a building mode for a couple years and will need someone to play D still. thought a couple picks and prospects would entice a bit

Ceci isn’t great, but he’s for sure currently underrated imo</div></div>
To me it is 2 parts for Oil benefit....Ceci maybe not much worse, but the Nurse - Ceci pair hasnt been great, so could be a way to mix it up. Demelo also UFA at year end, so if it doesn work, but $3.25M free off cap to see if way that it can be addressed next summer.
I am not a Ceci hater, but like the gamble on a few futures with that thought process

Justin Holl just got signed for more money than Ceci this summer...I'd say Ceci has value in NHL but need an upgrade here.
Also Dumba would also want to go play for a dumpster fire in Arizona over a cup contender

More and More talk in the market about Holloway being a good 3rd line player. Lavoie will need waivers this year and is a maybe to make the team.
tippet actually scores in the NHL and his 1.5M salary is critical for a small cap increase this year.

Well maybe my package isn't a fit for your organization, but a 2nd, a former 1st rounder who has scored 20goals before and a teams top prospect I would counter is paying up for a player with only 1 year before due a big raise
