what to do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GordM85</b></div><div>only 1 Hawks trade in here...
Ceci is an NHL d man and hawks clearly like overpaying guys so they can hit the cap floor. He seems like an absolute option for them who can tehn flip him retained to a team at the deadline as a good rental piece who can play....just not a great fit with Nurse</div></div>
He's only an option for the hawks if they're getting a 3rd just to take the cap hit. They can easily keep their draft pick, overpay a ufa d man and flip him retained at the deadline.

A reasonable attempt for Vatrano. I do believe (without retention) a 1st and prospect is probably about right. That said, Holloway’s production has been so disappointing I’m not sure if that cuts it

I agree, but I think 50% retention would cost a 3rd, not a 4th. And I didn't have a 3rd to spend (unless they would take a 2025 pick).

Savard
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fail4Nail</b></div><div>Tbh, I think Lavoie will be an NHL player. His shot is NHL caliber and has redefined his game a bit in the AHL. I can see him being a middle 6 forward, given the opportunity. I was never a fan of Bourgoult and hated that we drafted him.
Also, I see some Habs fan like Savard and some don't. I don't watch the Habs, but just stats wise, he's -47 thus far in his career as a Hab and has horrible analytics. He's also 33. I know he was fairly underrated a few season ago, but it seems like his best days are well past him.</div></div>
You may be right about Lavoie. Like you with Savard, I haven't watched him play. I just don't get good vibes from Lavoie...
As for Savard, fans who watch him play absolutely LOVE him. He is ALWAYS up against the opposition's first line and best players: always. He block shots like there's no tomorrow.
Just like Tortorella was a MASSIVE fan when he was coaching CSavard in Colombus, and why he fetched a 1st round pick with Tampa, Savard is a player that inspires defensive confidence.
I didn't know him AT ALL priori to him coming to Montreal, so I understand you might not know him well. He does NOT stand out; not spectacular.
But any team that gets him, the fans will love him right away. Heart and Soul guy. Will take a bullet to save a goal.
He would fit so well in Edmonton, and honestly, I still wouldn't want to trade him as a Habs fan haha
anyway,Edmonton is tramplinig the NHL right now haha. Incredible. Historic.

Having a peak at next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Drshnuckels91</b></div><div>I like him as a player but this team needs to free up cap space rn. I don't see any rebuilding Ceci as he's more of a player who benefits from stronger structure rather than being the best d-man on a terrible defensive core (Arizona, Chicago, etc.) no contending team takes him as his cap is too high. Foegele I think might just have to be the player to go</div></div>
I think the player to go is more obvious. With Nurse, Ekholm and Broberg on the left side, Kulak is the contract that will be divested if Holland needs to clear one.
I don't disagree that Foegele is somewhat at risk due to his contract, but I do disagree that he's a cap dump. GM's have repeatedly shown that a big, fast and physical guy with a good motor and decent hands is valued around the league.
Look at the Oilers forwards 5v5 goal scoring this season, Foegele shows well despite rarely playing with McDavid or Draisaitl.
1. McDavid: 1.60 goals/60
2. Kostin: 1.38
3. Kane: 1.13
4. Foegele: 1.04
His points/60 is a hair above RNH's for the season, he leads the forward corps in takeaways and is near the top of the list for hits. He's well worth his remaining $2.75 x 1 contract.

Fowler, because of his contract.
No one in the league is going to touch Nurse on his current deal, EDM massively overpaid him.

As a leafs fan, I can tell you that it's all mental with him. Either pucks are hitting him and he looks calm or they are going through him and his body language is awful. I hope he rebounds but I think it's unlikely

Sorokin is not available. Lou is not trading his franchise goalie when he is 80 years old and trying to win.

LTIR
That's not how it works.
Edit: You can still only go to the cap...LTIR contracts don't technically count (Though they screw you when it comes to performance bonuses), but they also don't free up extra space in your actual lineup. The $12 mil that isn't affecting your cap is already accounted for here in LTIR.
Running a cap strapped team and having a bunch tied up in LTIR isn't great either, because a) they have to be activated for the first day of the season, and b) in the offseason, you can only go 10% over the cap.

I want a Reimer Koski tandem. But that would be too hard on Mike Smith, Holland probably feels.
Also Reimer and Skinner as a tandem next season would be okay, and nice and cheap.

The only issue he consistently runs into is being overplayed. That issue is all on coaching staff not the player. Have no reason to think Allen would do any better under the same circumstances. Actually could make it much worse since kosk has proven more durable. I’m not saying Allen is brutal or bad just that kosk is better. Both are more suited as quality back ups.</div></div>
You can still sign Koskinen (mistake imo) and flip Allen next season if/when Skinner is ready. While moving a struggling Smith and having a reliable 1 A/B that isn't going to be out for 3 weeks during the playoffs because he sneezed too hard.

Wanting to actually accomplish something with the most dynamic forward duo some people have been alive for comes to mind for why EDM wants to add an elite goalie on a great contract

Each forward you have acquired in this post is 100% worth Edmontons time going after. Highly doubtful you get more than 1 of them but definitely needed. Ryan Getzlaf in my opinion should be Edmontons number 1 pursuit if he is open to playing anywhere else.

Tampa role players with our elite talent Winners
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy12Bob</b></div><div>Detroit already have a player they want to buy out.
AHL players are not an asset, they take up a contract spot that then can't be used on a better player should one appear on waivers or via trade.</div></div>
Man you have no clue what you are talking about.
DET for years was built on players in the AHL all on contracts that counted towards their 50 contract cap. Benson would be a great pick up top AHL player ahead of many in DET pipeline ready for a shot in the AHL. as for a team that finished next to last you take as many assests as you can to build yes they all dont work out but top scorers in the AHL typically do..
Only reason the oilers would not keep him is they are looking for veteran wingers as they are in a win now mode this summer. not a rebuild bring up young players.
