Playoff Roster 2023-24
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>buffbry</b></div><div>Red wings pass, it's a player they do not want</div></div>
Don't know Wings roster....could be any team with cap to spare...a 4th is essentially a flyer on a guy who if doesn't fit in system or doesn't produce at an acceptable level, can just not qualify and walk away from at seasons end

assume WPG is gonna rebuild with Schieffle, Helle, Dubois all headed out of town in next year....would figure they are not gonna be a cap team so some retention shouldnt matter....
Switch retention to Demelo then, just a cap number to be concerned with for 2023 for oil

Cody Ceci is a decent not great NHL d man at a reasonable rate....Yotes will need someone to actually play for them

Id swap a 1st for one of the 2nds....
Giroux trade then looks more like a 1st, 2 2nds and a 3rd or in your scenario, 2 firsts, a 2nd and a 3rd...
I just like his contract for this team and hes a right shot which is hard to find.

Right hand defensive C and a D man
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>Isles would pass on this. I think Schaefer & a 2nd is proper value for Mayfield; but taking back Ceci & Pool Party + a partially retained JGP feels like more than a 2nd round's worth of value. Ceci has two more years of a $3.25M cap hit but wouldn't be any better than RD3 on the Isles. so to New York he's a borderline cap dump. Combine that with the fact that there's no ready-made replacement for Pageau in the Isles organization, I think NY would want more coming back.</div></div>
Seems like from what I see on this site JGP has a wide range of value amongst Isles fans, some wanting to dump him. Obviously JP is only to make money work for us. I did this trade only if Isles fall out of contention and maybe they are wanting some picks and Ceci can play a bit so maybe Lou thinks he can help them next year to compete as well.
I would be open to sending some additional picks/prospects as Oil need a R handed center who can win some faceoffs and play defense.

I'll send you $100 if Horvat gets traded as a UFA for 2 firsts+ their most recent 1st rounder,+ a 40 point Dman on a rookie deal + another young winger

The ask for Chychrun is a prospect, a young established player and a high pick or multiple picks late 1st round picks.</div></div>
This is a contradicting statement...cheap assets are a premium....so we are trading premium assets for a player who is on a career high year playing for a contract that will cost 8-9M long term to sign....
When Horvat gets traded you are going to be quite upset with the actual package

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Yeah, here's the thing. This whole "taking some pricey guy that does not fit because maybe they can eventually jump through hoops to move him for peanuts" thing is not something the Blues partake in much. I get that you need to move out some salary, but the Blues are not in a position to eat cap and generally don't even when they can. Barrie having another year left is a major problem, and that's before we even get to the part where there's just not a real place for him in STL.
Besides, since there's no way Arizona bites on that offer, you will have plenty more options for sending to the Blues. :D</div></div>

was thinking maybe Barrie can bring in some other assets if slightly retained for a quick Blues retool as well

I expect McLeod will get a similar deal to what Puljujarvi and Yamamoto signed for last time ($1.175M), but I suppose anything is possible. I mean, if the guy's willing to flip you a Benjamin, do I get 50%? :cool</div></div>
Stauff has eluded to for last 10 days on his Oilers Now show Mcleod will be signed on a 1 year deal and under $1M....
He isnt right 100% of the time but he floats out most things for org before they happen. Has said numerouns times that with no arb rights he will likely need to be ground on by the Oil for a contract under 900k. My example here would be a hand shake of taking a deal for cap this year to get to 21 man roster and then next year if he wants $1M then they sign him for $1.2 on a wink wink deal....essentially he gives up $100k this year to make cap work and team rewards him with 200k next contract to make it work

Your choice is between underpaying McLeod <strong>and running a 21-man roster</strong> and trading a pick with Foegele <strong>and running a 22-man roster</strong>.</div></div>
Most people in Edmonton seem to think there is going to be a 20 man roster submitted. This gets them to 21 without trading assets.
I will etransfer you $100 if Mcleod signs for $1M or more cuz its not happening

I like Foegele and think he has some value....in saying that would not be oppossed to see him leave but not with additional assets like many want to attach a 2nd rounder to get rid of him.
Id much rather underpay Mcleod on a 1 year deal 100k than trade a pick wiht Foegele

likely scenario
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rookescr96</b></div><div>I think that it's a little unreasonable to expect Holloway to immediately come up and play top six minutes next year. Yes I think he would be fine and will have a great year but he's young and rushing players into positions they aren't comfortable with early on is a recipe for disaster. Look at how the Oilers immediately threw Nuge, Hall, and Eberle on the first line and now a days where they let Bouchard play third pair for a year and allow McLeod to develop on the fourth line for most of the season</div></div>
you must have missed the description that I laid out a scenario where Holloway plays all the way from line 2, to into the minors depending on his ability to handle it or not
I would also argue Nuge, Hall, Ebs with the responsibility of carrying the lines producing is a much different role than Holloway whos role on line would be chip in some goals with Kane/McDavid or Drai/Hyman carrying the load on the line.
