What makes Marner tradable
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JayTea</b></div><div>Most likely not, bonuses are paid at the start of the league year and they modified this league year as part of the CBA extension and return to play program. Marners was paid his year 1 bonus the day he signed the contract, July 1st 2020 he was paid year 2 bonus (the CBA changed after July 1st) his year 3/4/5/6 bonuses will be paid at free agency for those respective years. As of today Marner has been paid almost 50% of his contract value and is currently owed just over 8 million per year for his final 4 years of the contract, so yes he will be a very attractive player to teams with an eternal cap or can no longer afford to spend up to the cap in actual dollars, teams like Arizona, Florida and I'm sure a few others would be very interested in Mitch Marner

I prefer keeping Andersen. I think he is better than anybody on this list (looking at the past 3 years, but I understand not losing him for free in a year.
Rather give one of those guys. Mabye not Markström and Lehner because they will be expensive a 2-3 year deal and then either Woll or Scott can become starters, or you go from there. But I would not give up an asset for a guy who is not as good as free players available</div></div>
I think Andersen gets a bad rap: He's basically played on a high-octane offensive team that often leaves him out to dry. Through all of that, he's still put up very good numbers. It's not his fault Dubas signed 4 forwards to half of his available cap. He needs help, not to be traded out of town.

Bonuses are due on July 1st each year (unless otherwise stated in the contract) and the Leafs' bonuses have been paid out already.
I remember the media talking about it on July 1st. They made a big deal about it because players were being paid and there hadn't been any hockey played in months

I don't see Dubas trading Freddy unless there's a G coming back. Similar to Ceci-Zaitsev deal.

Most likely not, bonuses are paid at the start of the league year and they modified this league year as part of the CBA extension and return to play program. Bonuses will likely be paid on the 1st day of free agency.

The prospect pool is weak
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>1- Again, speed is not the only element to strong skating. Far from it.
2- Umm, okay. Maybe, maybe not. Look, I know you want the guy back up to full value, but 10 minutes of meh play is not going to convince any team that he's back to his best.</div></div>
I don't want to trade him to be honest. Johnsson is a guy you want on your team. He works hard, has skill, great speed and is responsible defensively. He can play either wing and can play in the top 6 or bottom 6 and you can count on him for some good production. If we find a different option for 3C I would move Kerfoot so I can keep Johnsson.

GET READY FOR FUN TIMES BOIS
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gordon_Bombay</b></div><div>Look at his draft class.
Turns out he is the 32nd most productive player from that draft class, while spending quite some time in europa and therefore having less games than most guys above him. He was a classic late bloomer.
The Leafs drafted Gauthier in the 1st round that year. I don't think a team would give up a 2nd for Gauthier right now.
He was a 7th round pick 7 years ago, he would not be one today</div></div>
What really makes me laugh about Johnsson is how underrated he is.
A fast supporting winger who digs for the puck, takes direction really well, has excellent puck retrieval skills, and knows how to pass really well and scores. Then you get the obligatory, anyone has good numbers with that line. Umm, no. If that was true McDavid would have the Stanley Cup in his house once a year.

what would you do with the 15th pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gordon_Bombay</b></div><div>That is a fair question. On the other hand, a lot of hockey related research has shown how past picks developed, and it is not that great at the end of the first round.
So the question is, do you take a player at 25-31 who has a 75% percent chance of becoming a 3rd pairing D and a 10% chance of becoming a top 4, or do you take a gample of saying he has a 30% chance of becoming a good top 4D, but also a 70% chance of never making it to the NHL.
For me, I'd take that chance on a Gunler this year. I think he has a good chance of becoming a good top 6 forward, but also a good chance of never making it to the NHL</div></div>
If you look at drafts over the last 10 or so years there's hits and misses in almost every round to some degree, kind of depends on how big a reach a guy is I guess, sometimes I think it might just all be luck but then you look at Tampa and they've done really well in later rounds 2 and later so who knows really.
As a Jets fan I hear often about their drafting being so good and while they have done well in their 1st round picks for the most part they haven't found anything other then 4th liners and bottom pair dmen in rounds 2-7 other then Hellebuyck in round 5 but goalies typically are drafted in later rounds so I'm not sure that's much of an accomplishment really, idk if they were reaching or not with some of those picks but the guys that did make mostly look like what we'd consider a "safe pick", I wish they'd took a chance with some of those past picks and selected a guy that might of been considered more of a risk/high upside type player.

Keeping the pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gordon_Bombay</b></div><div>Every team accepts, except the Leafs.
I don't like the 2 backup goalie idea.
Also, I really hope they don't draft Schneider that high. I think he has a high floor, but his upside is a 3rd pair D. I don't think he has top 4 upside. He is not a very good skater. not very mobile. Rather trade down for a guy like Helge Grans, who has size and is mobile, but has more developable skills that are lacking</div></div>
Schneider he has potential to be a strong two-way defender. He is big and physical, and his positioning and transition defense are reportedly top of the line, with his gap control touted highly and his defensive ability using both his stick and his body being well-regarded. His game on offense represents a question mark for now. But I’ll take a big body RD who hits any day.
Gras looks good too! I could see Dubas trading back like he usually does to get another pick.
As for the goalie tandem IMO that’s they way they go. 1a 1b type
