Things that MTL fans seem to perpetually misunderstand is that it doesn't matter how many middle 6 or middle pairing pieces they throw at the wall, a team that already has an ample supply of them isn't going to see any tangible value to that in order to give up a top line piece.</div></div>
Enjoy your top line piece then. Most overrated player in the league per the latest The Athletic players poll... Zegras value is at an all time low and you buddies think he's worth like a top 5 pick 😂😂😂

You don't know your hockey, I don't blame you since you are Cali boi. Barron is righty, the middle 6 C in question is Beck, Dvorak is in there purely for cap purposes, you aren't getting a top 5 pick for Zegras (2024 Mtl pick or Reinbacher). A lot of words in your answer, but not much sense.

What are the assets you are talking about?? An AHLer and a mid round pick? lol Savard would on Vancouver 2nd pair bud

Savard is perfectly fine. The perception he sucks is only caused by him taking 1st pair minutes when he should be a 4th dman. Habs won't trade him unless they have a good return and they are not looking at dumping him at all. And he has been nothing but a great leader for all the young dmen habs have. Marty praised him last week on the biggest TV show we have in Quebec by saying he's the epitome of leadership and that he would have loved to have Savard as a teammate when he played.

Using points for one of the best defensive Dman in the league... is not smart.

Way too much to dump Armia
Low return for Evans
Pearson 50% could get a better return
No way does Price have positive value. The second is in the wrong place</div></div>
Fair on Zegras, hard to pinpoint his exact value.
On the Monahan comment, from Puckpedia: "At the deadline, there are usually about 41 days left out of a 186 day season. That means that at the deadline, a player's cap hit will only count 41/186 of their annual cap hit on the new team."
Armia: maybe the 3rd round is too much, but I added it to avoid all the "not paying enough to dump Armia comments"
Evans: pretty fair trade IMO for an injury-proned 4th line center who earns above 1.5M per year.
Pearson: tough to say, we havent seen him play after his major injury, return non-significant at this point
Price contracts has big value for Arizona. Cap will increase a lot and they have a lot of UFAs with high cap hits.

Brodie is actually worth his salary, not Monahan, Pearson and Petry. Also all 3 players we traded for were not in their teams plan anymore... hence why your trade is not a smart one.

Some cap dump that could be interesting
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>corson</b></div><div>I read in the Athletic that the Habs will want to start the season with Price on the IR and not the LTIR
I don't understand the reasoning beyond something about it giving the Habs more cap flexibility if he starts the season on the IR for x number of games and then slides over to LTIR after the start of the season.
If the Athletic is correct with this report then we won't have the ability to take on any cap dumps
However if Hughes feels taking on 1 of these cap dumps is better than cap flexibility than it could happen.
Hughes has a game plan and I just hope he makes the right choices</div></div>
From what I know (might be wrong though) is that teams that are not using LTIR have their cap space increasing every day which is good if you want to maximize your cap space at the trade deadline to acquire big contracts, either talented players or cap dumps. If you are using LTIR, your cap space is stalling.

Not a dump. Chicago wants to gather some of the best leaders available around Bedard. Gallagher is overpaid yes, but Richardson knows his worth goes beyond his productivity. Plus Chicago has a ton of cap space so why not. Gally will ends up on LTIR in like 2 years so lenght should not be a problem.
