Larkin is 28, Mantha and Bertuzzi are 30, Hronek is 25, Zadina is 24, Seider is 22, plus whatever other prospects develop/we get till then. Georgiev would be 28 as well. I think its fine. And again, we cant even take the next step until we get a goalie. They are probably one of the most important pieces in a rebuild. It allows the young players to be able to make mistakes and not have it cost us every time like having Howard in goal does.</div></div>
He may get you wins that you don't need and cost you draft positions in the process.
Sell everything and everyone and maybe win something again someday.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wingss</b></div><div>On the outside looking in, yes. But until we get a goalie, we are never going to be able to improve. Our defense is horrible, and we give up a lot of shots per night, but if you look at the advanced stats, we aren't giving up a large amount more of HIGH QUALITY scoring chances per game than a lot of other teams. So basically when teams with good goalies would get a save, we do not.</div></div>
That may be true but it is entirely irrelevant. You may have 5 players on your roster worth keeping and they'll be on the back nine once this organization turns it around. Bottom out first and worry about a goalie when you've got some players.

Finding a backup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Knowing how erratic Leafs fans are in their mood from game to game, I'm expecting to see "Trade Andersson" posts. Last two games Andersson has allowed three and six goals. A 4.50 GAA. Hutchinson in the past two weeks his GAA is 1.0. Therefore Hutchinson should be promoted to the starter as the Leaf sjust can't afford a 5m back up.</div></div>
After the All-star snub maybe Andersen wants to go. Mister"I can't play defence and instead take endless useless wrist shots from the point" gets the nod but the team's MVP?

TVR isn't an upgrade. Moving Ceci for an upgrade makes sense but we're talking about the 6th D spot. They can call up an upgrade.

I guess tonight may be a big night to figure out if a proper backup goalie is needed.
70 games pace is just nuts....honestly, 60 games is too much imo but it's going to be 60 games easy the way things are going.</div></div>
They had no choice but to play him until the team found its confidence again. Rest for him is pointless if they were to miss the playoffs.

I was frustrated by Babcock's game management for years and I'm sure the players think Babcock cost the Leafs games and at least one playoff series.</div></div>
Babcock was great with the rebuild and Lou at the helm. Some of his decisions were questionable but the results were there in the regular season. He simply couldn't adapt to a change in philosophy and his ego was no longer needed.
The team under Keefe is certainly a breath of fresh air and entertaining to watch.

They're comfortably in a playoff spot if their backups were 2-4-1 for 5 points which is still ****ty instead of 0-6-1</div></div>
A lot of focus is on the record of the backup, which has been their Achilles heel, but with Andersen in net, they're one of the best teams in the league. He is 7 games above .500.

Long way to being a THE top team in the east. They also are 2 points away from being 5th in their own division hardly powerhouse status. I bet your excited maybe just type this up and delete it after. Just saying nobody likes bragging especially when the results are average to good. Tml are trending in the right direction but they also have played a fairing easy schedule.</div></div>
9-4 with their new coach. A little more like what was expected to begin the season.
If they can get even average backup goaltending moving forward, they'll be fine.

Led their division last year, 6th today. Duchene in, Subban out. There is time to turn it around but something is amiss.

NJ has been awful for years with them needing an MVP to drag them into the playoffs. Let's cut P.K a little slack here. A deal of this sort would be excellent.

With Lehner's cap hit, few teams can take him without salary going the other way and even fewer teams need him. The idea of having to pay to rid themselves of Ceci made sense in the summer but now that teams are beginning to think about selling, expiring contracts like Cecil's are irrelevant or in some cases welcomed for the tank.

31 teams, 6 defensemen per, we're talking about players that don't crack the top 100. The difference between them isn't worth the conversation.
Dollars remain the deciding factor.
