Last push before relocation
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Grapevine</b></div><div>You said everything that needs to be said. I’m just worried about Houston. They have a multimillionaire owner of their NBA team who is on record as meeting with the league and wanting a team. They could go to two more expansion teams between Houston and Salt Lake or they could move Arizona to one and the Jets to the other.</div></div>
Your not wrong, but the drive of other owners and them wanting a cut of expansion, I think even keeps them propping up Arizona, so probably be rather sour, if it turns into two relocations. Also such an investment of real estate slash lottery revenue would be cut if the jets ever moved. Possibly even a fire sale, with the loss of such a strong name in Winnipeg. Possibly need a name change or at least a president/ceo change of corporation running day to day on rink and moose. I don’t see it Arizona then Winnipeg either, Winnipeg probably in bottom third. Just in population and size of rink, but there is still the floridas, Carolina’s, Columbus of the league, a dumpster fire away from chaos also. Still remember the wear a Halloween costume, get a free ticket promo in Columbus. Just imagine the chaos if they pulled a stunt like that in Winnipeg lol. Sky isn’t close to falling in Winnipeg.

Last push before relocation
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sssss19</b></div><div>Settle downnnn the Jets arnt going anywhere people are over reacting. Lots of the problems will be fixed over this summer and hopefully this years playoff push will push more excitement next season. They will be just fine
There’s no doubt there’s a decrease is ticket sales but this is all coming up due to new city’s that are wanting nhl teams such as salt lake, Houston etc … that would be all more profitable for the NHL compared to the profit coming from the Jets
Chipman will do his job this summer and they’ll update the game production and create a way fans want to come to games not just for hockey but for the other things around the rink and the atmosphere. They’ll also have to make a way for fans to have fun whether the Jets win or lose just like the Bombers have done over the years.
I’m confident we’ll see big changes</div></div>
Simple math on this also, ownership investment from rink/condos/cut from shark club, and whatever else they have downtown, simply doesn’t overly work without the 40 dates a year jets. But let’s say they put the team on the market to be moved, league isn’t going to allow Quebec City period, only option is probably North Toronto new rink, but between Ottawa, and Toronto, that wouldn’t be allowed either. So for the sale route, min price would be a billion, move it to a location with a newish rink, probably another 1/2 billion. 1/2 billion into the club, sitting there with a 2 billion ish investment and what cities evaluation going to ensure at least a 2 plus billion evaluation? Along with the fact that all the other owners much prefer splitting 3/4 of a billion expansion fee over any relocations. Owners better not cry wolf too many times, but this one may work, as long as they make some changes along with the corporate crowd, got to toughen up that ticket, instead of such a soft ticket, never should have killed the secondary market, and some of the other markets that could prop up the demand on tickets when it is lagging. From a die hard jets fan

If Calgary is trading Lindholm then they would want prospects anyways. Replace Torgersson with Lucius, Chibrikov, or Lambert and we can talk

The Columbus trade is interesting. I think I'd take it as a Columbus fan, although you're going to want Boqvist higher in your lineup than third pair. He's a finesse defenseman, not a bruiser. Hell of a PP QB, though.

If A Rebuild Is Out Of The Question then Resign Scheifele
If it came down to signing one of Helle or Scheifele it'd definitely be Scheifele for me, no way would I be signing Hellebuyck to some $8M+ ×5-8 yr anchor contract.
The best course of action is trading them both but this is an organization that's content with being mid so they might try to extend one or both of them.

As of now LA and NJ are really the only teams that make sense as a potential landing spot for Hellebuyck, the Sabres too I guess but it sounds like they're gonna go with Levi/Comrie/UPL and see what happens.
There's a very limited market for Hellebuyck, sure hope the Jets don't sign him, his next contract is gonna be an anchor.

The Jets can't sign better UfAs though and are reluctant to trade futures for established players so keeping the guys they have is crucial for any on ice success even if its middling results.
Edit: I'm not saying I agree with that approach but just that its the reality of the situation, this is a tough organization to cheer for... 🙄

Good take from Lebrun</div></div>
LeBrun has it backwards. He's the one dissenting. The overwhelming majority of fans and players do not want this stuff in the game. Notice how few will protest this decision. I don't see how no longer forcing players to play politics on the ice is a step backwards, as he puts it.

I would answer phone calls on pionk and ehlers, hopefully healthy and shined right up at deadline, have some serious discussions with Connor and morrissey also, want both to be part of the answer going forward, but if not try to accommodate. Tear the bandaid off and go full firesale, would be huge to gain some 23 firsts if at all possible.

It’s funny. So many BlueJackets fans thought it was Torts.
Now we’re not so sure. PLD sure seems to be a bigger baby than Laine. If he can’t play where he wants, he brings everybody else down with him.
I’d love to see him finally land in Montreal and then still end up tanking their locker room too.
There are some people in this world that are just miserable wherever they go, and whatever they do.

2023 NHL Offseason Discussion Thread #2 - The Salepocalypse
So Philly, Winnipeg, Calgary (and DeBrincat) I’m guessing will want to try and get 2023 draft capital if possible. One idea is that the most likely to move is the most valuable - the best of the best when considering all things.
I wonder who the best is (I put these in rough order of what I think)
Lindholm (best C)
Kyle Connor (Best W)
Konecny
Laughton (cause of aav for cash tight team)
Hanafin
Hart
Scheifele
Toffoli
DeBrincat (cause only 5 teams)
Hellebuyck (cause cost of contract)
Backlund
PLD (cause he’s going to Montreal)
So many people. I’m forgetting some.
Imagine if Chicago scooped up ROR, Lindholm, Hart, DeBrincat…..Dare I say that’s a bubble team Ready to rock in 2 years or so? Prob like 3 firsts of value out and 28 mil against the cap or so.

PLD Drama Comes To An End And Others Are Dealt Too
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>Wait ... So NYR trade their only RW for another LW?! Kakko is not going anywhere!</div></div>
I agree with this. Kakko is a no deal from NYR.
I really like PLD to NYR. I even did that in one of my ACGM teams. First of all if NYR is on PLD's 5-7 team list I can see him signing a 8 @ $7-8M deal with them. They are a contending team and the report came out saying that he would be willing to take less to sign with a contender. Second, the NYR will have to move salary out so I understand Goodrow being in the package back to the Jets. However the Jets have a big need and that is a RHD. NYR have a what looks like a really good young RHD in Braden Schneider who is stuck behind Trouba and Fox. He isn't jumping ahead of those guys in playing time. Now back to the part where NYR needs to shed salary to fit PLD in. Trocheck is a guy who would be a solid number 2 centre. Chevy has said this is a re-tool so bringing in a guy like Trocheck makes that easier. The only thing is would he waive his no move to come to Winnipeg? doubtful.
