yeah now that guentzel is gone, and assuming he's not coming back and the Pens arent going to be big spenders in FA, they dont really need to shed cap space.

Detroit has to pay RFA's Seider and Raymond big dollars this summer.
Plus re-sign Kane and a UFA RD like Roy.
Pens would likely have to take a contract back like Fabbri, Maatta or Holl.
Well maybe not Holl.
He'll likely be bought out.
Dubas loved Holl in Toronto.
Don't be surprised if Dubas signs him cheap after he's bought out.
Something like 3 years1 mil AAV</div></div>
I think the pick is stating the penguins keep their 2024 that was top ten protected and the sharks get the 25. So they can't decline lol

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wqrrior</b></div><div>ok guentzel is in your name so this counter is obviously riddled in bias. i agree that there's a divisional tax, and i agree that the offer is short, but cmon, laf for guentz 1 for 1 would be stupidly lopsided. This counter is 5 times worse than the original. Othmann 1st is the highest I could see the pens getting, and imo that's steep too. Rentals simply do not get massive packages regardless of their upside.</div></div>
obviously laf-jake 1 for 1 it's obviously bad for the pens lol. even if he was the first overall he won't clearly become as good as Jake is right now. plus whoever will acquire Jake will have him with an extension and is going to pay a crazy amount to have him.

How is homer behavior wanting to keep the player that I believe is a better fit currently for the team?
Not to mention why on earth would montreal take that trade.

So this year I have to defend Rakell. Last year I went blue defending Rust.
Pens fans need to chill. Rakell scored 28 goals last year and is snake bit so far this year. He has 0 goals but should have 4-5. I suspect he will end the year with 20ish goals. He is a top 6 winger and will find his game. Just like Rust.

<strong>Rodrigues >>> Rakell. Why are they adding a pick? Not that they would even consider something like this</strong>.
Why would Minny do this? They would get alot more if they wanted to trade him, which they don't hence why they extended him.</div></div>
Can you defend this statement? Rakell scored 28 goals last year with an expected goals of 33. Rakell had more hits, more points, and was better in most defensive metrics.
How is ERod better, let alone >>> better?

Get EK the cup
Honestly CHI might do this, Petry's contract is ugly but at least he's still worth having on the ice. Zaitsev was so bad at the end of last season that I will be surprised if he's still on our roster a month into the season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CCM46</b></div><div>Not the worst EK65 deal I've seen, however as the Pens I really don't want to be tied to a 33 year old defenseman at 8,000,000 hit for the next 4 years. I get that it can help keep the window open and better shot for a bit longer, but its a huge risk to the point where the reward is what possibly making it out of Round1?</div></div>
I actually think Pitt is the perfect landing spot for EK. They have no real choice but to go all in with the remaining useful years of the Crosby, Makkin, Letang era. Regardless of what they do or don’t do, they are looking at a monster rebuild in 2-4 years anyway.

This is a different take on a hawks trade. I like the 2nd and prospect coming back for a guy we may not be qualifying, I understand the payment is for the 3 years of McGinn. I think this would really depend on what the plan is with TJ as I doubt we would want more guys clogging the pathway for the younger guys coming through who Mcginn would be taking minutes from over that 3 year period. Legare isn't the quick skating guy that KD is reportedly looking at but Id like to see him have another season in the AHL to see how he goes. For me id lean on saying no to this deal purely down to the fact of McGinn's deal for 3 more years taking up slots.

I wouldn't mind the Pens trading for him if his contract had 2 years left at 5M, but the extra term and money makes it a tough one to take on</div></div>
Lol everyone in hockey wants a 30 goal scoring power forward at 5 mil a season signed short term!!! the fact his contract ends at 34 is why it’s not a terrible deal and guys who play power forward and get 30 a season consistently are extremely rare, he hasn’t shown any signs of breaking down or slowing down and he hasn’t had any major injuries. His contract will prove to be solid throughout the deal I promise you, that’s being said I doubt the sharks trade him he was their main offense last season.

New Idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>dude you over here wanting to talk about numbers but leave out the part that Dillon was bleeding goals at 150% rate per minute on the ice as Pettersson. You are lookng at a .044 to a .029.
Thanks for playing.
I know it's hard to imagine this, but defense isn't about points, especially when it's at a 28point pace per season. You have to play your own zone, he struggled. It's why caps fans want him gone. Believe me if he didn't you wouldn't be hearing a word.
No matter how you look at this. He's a player who's not particularly an offensive player who struggled in his own zone outside of a sheltered role.
You think teams are paying 4 mil for years on that trade. I'm telling you good luck on that.
His immobility makes him a 3LD candidate aka a sheltered guy who you don't put in the harder situations. In a league with a flat cap for 2 years straight, teams don't have 4 mil for a 3LD. Hell they didn't have it last year either, which is why you saw moves like Nate Schmidt for a 3rd.
Even with the market in your favor, with the way the game keeps changing not being able to skate makes it harder and harder to move guys.
No one wants a pylon back there. WSH didn't figure that out last year, hence the mistake of Chara.
Everyone else is.</div></div>
Lol xgf% are equal. Unless you don’t understand what that means? Both players are identical. Thanks for playing ?Defense isn’t about points but when players have similar defensive skill sets I use points to tie break. Yeah penguins are fast and mobile and have won 3 playoffs games in 3 years lol. Teams are looking at add grit bud. Your GM said that’s what they are looking to add. If Dillon is a 3LD so is Pettersson. Ignore the facts but you claim DILLON is average but you made threads trading for him. Your a living contradiction.
Offense - Dillon by a mile
Defense - Equal
Possession- Pettersson
You might be too bias to have a reasonable opinion about this.
