<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drmantalban</b></div><div>Regarding BUF, that's fair. That's the side of this equation I struggled with most. I'd agree that it needs workshopping for BUF to consider it, but Frost is NHL ready and I included 2 1sts and a 2nd. Voracek is not worth his contract, but he's still very productive and immediately plays topline minutes for BUF. I'm not hung up on what I proposed here, since I'd agree that package to BUF ultimately gets beat by competing offers. I just wanted to explore Couturier going to MIN, while also playing around with the Eichel sweepstakes. PHI has very little incentive to move coots, unless there's major upside (blue chip D man like Seth Jones + picks, or Jack Eichel).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quote:</div>Sorry but that's just not at all correct. MIN does not need a depth defender, and more importantly, they have an enormous need for a 1C. 1C is a MONUMENTAL requirement for MIN right now and the foreseeable future. Victor Rask is currently the 1st line center, a guy that's a healthy scratch on most teams. Finding a top line center is probably one of the highest priorities in MIN. MIN has absolutely zero interest in this trade, unless there's a 1C coming back. Plenty of proposals have them targeting Eichel, but I wanted this one to be different in going after Coots.</div>

Issue I have with this statement is the fact that you are consider Couturier, Sean as first line center, when he is clearly being paid like a second line center in Philadelphia right now. So why would Minnesota want a second line center when 1C is a MONUMENTAL requirement for MIN right now and the foreseeable future. Which I also disagree with the foreseeable future aspect since Minnesota are a year maybe two from a complete rebuild so they will require a lot more then 2C playing 1C minutes.

You also seem to miss the fact that Minnesota needs Cap space more then anything else at the moment as they cannot acquire an 1C without Cap Space.</div></div>

An RFA Player for an guy that has 2yrs remaining means more is needed to make this even a conversation starter, as they would be looking for compensation for lost contract years. Maybe add a few picks like a second, a third or other pieces.

I also like to think does this actually help both teams? In this situation the trade doesn't make sense for Vancouver as they would be looking for Cap relief if they were to move the contract more then the player as he slots in as the third line center but Sam most likely is looking for a pay increase so why would Vancouver make this move?

I also don't agree with the guy above that Petterson and Huges are going to get paid as I have heard Vancouver is looking for a bridge deal on Petterson in the range of $6-7M per season with term being a question mark. While Hughes has shown he is a bit of a defensive liability this season (-25 in 54 gp) and requires more time to develop his defensive game by having shelter minutes so Vancouver is also looking at a bridge contract down around $3M and I expect Hughes contracts talks to be ugly with a good chance that they might even look at trading him if the talks don't progress.

Vancouver has an busy off season a head of them since they need Seattle to take Holtby contract $4.3M, they can finally buy out Eriksson for cap releif around $2M but also add another $1M the following season, Resign Hughes, Pettersson, Bailey, Juolevi, Rathborne and Lind while only having around $20-21M with at least two of those players looking at eating half of that Salary Cap space.

Watch for Boeser to be traded this off season as his $5.875M contract is up after next season and he will be RFA but Vancouver simply won't have the Cap space to sign him if the reports are correct that he is looking for anywhere north of $8M per season. He is also being paid $7.5M next season while is cap hit remains the same.
