i disagree. mccabe replaces provorov as the gap filler behind werenski without actually being worse in the grand scheme of things. brodie expires after this season which frees up a RHD slot which we clearly need since jiricek is buried already and we'll want to get ceulemans NHL minutes before 26-27. niemala isn't a bad piece to have in the system but he's not really a factor. and then we get a first round pick for our troubles?
yea, we take this.

Keefe has been totally out coached every year in the playoffs and were actually lucky to win a round last year. This team had the 2nd best PP last season to the oilers history making PP. So they move Marner from the point and lose all the playmaking options. Big reason why JT has dropped off the face of the earth in PP goals. He doesn't get the slap pass tip in's or shots from Marner just to create rebounds. Willie at the point either misses the net or can't make the right option like Marner.</div></div>
I think it's kinda strange that Marner hasn't played the point more. In his breakout season, his last ELC season under Babcock he outstanding with Reilly at the PP point. Seems to be the Leafs history, being outcoached in the playoffs. Under Babcock the same thing.

Those entitled crybabies on the Leafs could use what Chief brings.
Accountability.
Especially Little Mitchy. Biggest spoiled Brat of them all.
I guarantee Berube wouldn't be a puppet like Keefe and Tree and certainly wouldn't knuckle under to Shammy.

The one thing we can all count on your for is hating TO more than you like the Jets and you absolutely love the Jets. Lol a 3 million dollar rental is a bad contract. You have a lot of silly takes but this one is the best so far.

You know that's Brett Pesce and not Cale Makar right? You're tripping if u honestly believe the Canes wouldn't trade him for Marner 1for1. Especially considering that Marner's contract is like almost 50% paid. Marner's contract isn't great but him being overpaid by 1.5million isnt gonna completely drastically change his value. can't tell if this is a realistic maple leaf fan or a sad one. Either way you are underselling hard.
I know this feeling from experience. When ducks lost to Chi in game 7 of the WCF terribly I just had to buy NHL 15 and just trade all the players and start over.
Anyways, I recommend that its a good way to exert frustration.

That's still no reason to sell a quality asset and retain, it'll just be a very inexperienced bottom 6 and D core not much different than what they have now, if the cap drops or stays stagnant there will be about 12/15 teams in the same or worse situation than the leafs

Premier?
You’re using that word about Tyson Barrie? I mean, 20th scoring defensemen in the NHL is all well and good, but premier? Seriously?
Okay I have two serious questions. Straight up, would you make these trades:
Tyson Barrie for Torey Krug.
William Nylander for David Pastrnak.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>If you go into advanced stats though Gudbranson is just a plug who is slow and tough. He's only valuable to people who value a big guy that'll drop the gloves. Outside of that Ceci is better. Better skater, better puck mover and as good defensively. Although I would say they are very close all around. I think people are doing the whole, if there is any difference let's blow it out of proportion on this one.
If they could be rated out of a hundred, the difference isn't much. Maybe Ceci is a point or two better. The extra year at 4 million is a problem for Gudbranson though.</div></div>
Let's put aside for the moment that Toronto is a team desperately in need of some toughness, a quality you need to go deep into the playoffs. When I see him play, I see a blueliner who is very sound defensively, rarely gets beaten by speed due to his experience, and rarely commits giveaways (unlike his mates Lindholm, Fowler and Manson, all of whom can be counted on for one or two howlers every game). Right now you have Holl and Liljegren signed for the right side. The only reasonable RhD (to me) that will be available as a free agent is Dylan Demelo. Even the addition of Demelo doesn't make the right side of your defense look playoff-level, and he will be getting offers from at least six teams that I can think of, reducing your chances of landing him even if Dubas is interested. So you'll be down to acquiring someone by trade. I don't see a lot of competent RhD's making less than $4MM in the trade market. Try naming three.

What awful stats are you talking about? I've just given you 5 stats, in 4 of which Gudbranson is superior to Ceci. And the fact that he is signed for another year is a plus, not a minus, because you have absolutely nobody signed for next year on that side.
Edit: I didn't realize Toronto re-upped Holl on New Year's Eve. I must have been doing something else that day . . .

Not as easy physically to play against as Leivo as at is against Petan, Shore, Moore, Tymashov, Spezza, Nylander
Any wonder we don't really beat Boston?
Talent without heart is a losing proposition, a heart transplant is also needed with that coaching change</div></div>
Yup. Lievo fits the lw mold of what we keep hearing that the leafs need. I really dont understand how that situation played out. Or why Holl was scratched for almost a whole year cause he wasn't good enough, only to somehow magically morph into a competent rhd this year. But after laughing my way through that Commodore interview something tells me that he could probably shed some light on the reasons behind the Leivo and Holl situations.

Cap reLeivo
I always liked Lievo and his game. I don't know what he ever did to land in Babcock's dog house but it seems like Babs made his judgement on him and that's where he was staying no matter what.
I had a listen this morning to the Mike Commodore podcast where he rips Babcock. It gave me quite chuckle.. I'm really starting to get the sense that Babcock needs to be gone soon - like yestetday.
If there's truth to Commodore's take then it sounds like Babcock is close to being a full blown narcissist. And if he is, then that's some nasty toxic stuff to be around, and I wouldn't expect him to be able to turn this ship around anytime soon.
