You don't need shut down centers in the Olympics. Just take your best players and go play.
Like you mentioned nic dowd to represent our country to the world.

Despite the lack of offensive production he is defensively good enough to be on the 3rd line, no point in trading him when you likely just get someone older doing the exact same thing. They need to move picks and a prospect or two to make that big swing.</div></div>
agreed 100 %, he's got more value for us so no need to trade him and make the same mistake this team has been making for the past 50 years which is trading undervalued young forwards for overvalued veterans.

Yeah they need those D that can clear the front of the net

Yep those guys are tweeners to me. If you’re taking a few hundred face offs I can’t call you a proper winger.

Yes very much and since they play together at Syracuse it's pretty smart to keep them together.

Just to add. Thirty two year old Tarasenko just might not agree to ANY trade. Must want to just rest for a few months before UFA starts. Why risk injury and really what does he has to show to other teams?

Lilleberg has practically forced De Haan to be the 7th D when Sergachev returns, which I don't think anyone expected when this season started. Crozier definitely deserves a few more chances, loving what he brings to the squad and is definitely a call-up when the time comes.

This isn't logical. NTC Tarasenko might tell the Sens, I only except a trade to Rangers, so what leverage do the Sens have in trade negotiations? Not much if he one or few team he would be willing to be traded to. Also Sens have no hold on him as a UFA., certainly an extension isn't guaranteed.

Crazy f’n world we live in isn’t it. Toronto is trying to re write hockey. If we pay 4 Forwards more than half of the salary that’s allotted for a 23 man roster, sounds like a recipe for success.🤦♂️

Wheeler won’t be getting traded. He’s not fast and never has been but that was known before hand. He might be on the 4th or healthy scratch come TDL/playoffs but won’t be traded.

A strange idea maybe
So if NYR doesn't win the cup they lose a lot of further and Drury needs to find a new job. Not sure he is up for that? I would do Ruzicka and Gilbert for like a 2nd round pick and Jones.
FYI this rumor was with Tanev 50 % salary retention so you messed that one up.

Ranger rumor is total nonsense, Drury would not even consider it for a second and any Ranger GM that would, would be fired on the spot. Never, ever happens.

William Nylander Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HOCKEYBOY448</b></div><div>I should’ve known better. On the bright side, how do you feel about the reported offer to Nylander right now.</div></div>
Just a little background. On virtually all UFA signings, I'm neutral. If the team think it fair value...making the signing, but an overpay...well maybe it's best to look elsewhere to spend the cap.
Even seven years might be too much....but I certainly wouldn't do eight years, as Nylander will. be 28 years of age after this season.
I don't know of any team that would spend 11m for Nylander (although he may be worth it) so I kinda think the Leafs would be "bidding against themselves " once you get much above 10.5m.
But if it's all amount $$$$ for Nylander and demanding top dollar, maybe he isn't the guy you really want on the team, though I can't blame a player if he goes that route.
It's like a popular girl at school you would like to date. So you ask for dinner at House of Pancakes, but she demands that you take her to the Olive Garden...cause that's why other guys take her. Well maybe she isn't for you.
