As much as I like Domi, that’s not a bad offer for him. In fact if the second was changed to this year I would be even more interested.

Ya I was just kidding. It’s just that when I first saw us trading a guy who hasn’t been on our team for years traded for a whole team, it was funny and a decent deal.

Two 2nds for Ghost seems fair, but I wouldn’t trade the picks from this year. In such a deep draft, I would actually love if the Habs got more picks or traded up.

I agree on both your guys points. I just like the idea if Strome in MTL. I don’t actually want to trade Domi. Just experimenting.

As much as I like Lindell as our top d partner for Weber, I don’t think talking Faksa and then signing him to a big contract would make the most sense for the team. Dishing out almost 6 million dollars would take a toll on our cap, and Suzuki would lose his spot in the top 6. I know you’ve already set up the top 6 in such a way, so maybe instead of Faksa, we could try to acquire a solid prospect or a young middle 6 winger on the rise to slot in on the roster.

Gone - But At What Cost
Highly doubt this trade would happen. They aren’t moving Brook. He’s too good and valuable to the organization to be traded in a cap dump move. Plus, soon enough, an Alzner buyout can be more feasible. If not, he can stay in Laval as he is a good mentor to the very guy in this deal, Brook himself.

I wouldn’t be too too surprised either. Yzerman values his centermen. He did select Seider last year which was considered a surprise. You never know.

3 year rebuild pt 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>The problem with any rebuild of this roster is that you don't have many assets to trade for futures. You've got bad contracts (Parise, Suter, Rask), unmoveable players (Koivu, Zuccarello), guys you don't want to trade (Dubnyk and Dumba), guys you probably don't want to give up on yet (Donato, Eriksson Ek, Fiala, Greenway, Kunin), and guys who have little to no trade value (Foligno, Hartman, Staal, Hunt). That leaves Zucker with his NTC, Spurgeon with his NMC, and Brodin as virtually your only marketable assets. If I could wave a magic wand, I'd persuade Montreal to give you a 2021 second and a right-handed forward prospect for Brodin, and Pittsburgh to give you a 2020 second and Erik Gudbranson for Greg Pateryn (to alleviate their <strong>next</strong>-year cap problem), but I don't know how much Harry Potter I have in me.
Is there still a possibility that a compliance buyout can be arranged in connection with the Seattle expansion draft? I think that's the only way you're going to get out from under the Parise and Suter contracts.</div></div>
Good point.
I'd also like to acquire Brodin for the Habs. He's a stud.

GO HABS GO Roll all 4 lines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I just have a hard time seeing Alexander Romanov being on the top line in the NHL...in 2020...when he's literally the 6th Dman on CSKA Moscow behind guys names Klas Dahlback, Nikita Nesterov, Bogdan Klsevelich, Mat Robinson, Alexel Marchenko. Out of all those names, the BEST player was a fringe AHL/NHL player. I don't get why MB isn't bringing him over to have him play serious minutes. I get that the KHL is a good league, but he still only gets 12 minutes a game and CSKA has him riding the pine in pressure situations.
***EDIT*** For the record...I would love to have Romanov in the Hawks system. I would just do literally everything I could to get him out of the KHL. AND I guess don't expect much right away. Since he's not really getting ice time, he'll need time in Laval to develop.</div></div>
Romanov has a KHL contract, so he wouldn't be able to come over to the NHL even if he or Marc Bergevin wanted to. His contract expires at the end of this season, so he would be able to make the trip over to the NHL after this season. I wanted to inform you of that just in case you didn't know.
Another thing to consider is this is just his second year in the KHL. He didn't have a lot of ice-time last season mostly due to the fact that he was just 18 years old in a professional league of men. On top of that, he is playing for CSKA Moscow, arguably the biggest and most popular team in the KHL. I don't think that team of that roster and success level is going to deploy an 18 and now 19 year old defenseman in a really predominant role right away, especially considering the talent of the competition. Just like in the NHL, with time, he will grow and develop and will move up in the lineup.

Not a bad trade for both sides, although as a Habs fan it would burn to lose Byron, especially considering his value on special teams. But if Puljujärvi can bounce back with the Habs, he can be amazing.

I agree. I'd like to think that Petry can get a 1st plus a solid prospect or even an A prospect and a second. Danault, after the season he just had, is too valuable for the Habs to want to trade. Plus being only 26 years old he is still really young. I think the Habs can make deals without necessarily having to acquire cap dumps to get nice prizes. Unless, along with a solid return already in place, they acquire cap dumps to get more prizes with it.

What does this team look like with a Holtby extension
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>staytru20</b></div><div>I think a 2 or 3 year deal at a reasonable cap hit (7.5-8M) would be the dream scenario for the Caps. A short term deal would allow them to season Samsonov in the NHL for a couple of years, and give him the reins when Holtby's new contract expires.</div></div>
Exactly this.
Although I have a feeling that Holtby will want a long term deal, whether it's with the Capitals or not. A long term deal would probably be his last contract (or at least his last big contract), so I'd like to think he would want one no matter where he will get it.

I'd like to think Holtby would definitely get a big money (~10M$) contract should he hit free agency next season. As mentioned above, the Flames as well as the Red Wings could look into him if they clear cap space. Maybe even the Senators may look towards a veteran goalie if things start to turn around for the better after next season.
But as a previous post mentioned, maybe they can get him on a short term deal (2-3 years at a lower cap hit), although that seems very unlikely.

It seems like a burn to do this since Holtby won a Cup with the Caps and he's only 29 years old, but they may let him walk (although they should try not to lose him for nothing) and crown Samsonov the future between the pipes. I know it seems a bit early for him, but they will have to decide before the Seattle expansion draft in a couple of years anyway.

Sharks Ideas 1
I feel like Ottawa is starting to round out their D corps for the future in terms of prospects with Chabot, Brännström, Bernard-Docker, Thomson and Lajoie. So I'm not sure if they want to take Merkley. Meanwhile, White and Brown are two of their best center prospects as of right now (with Batherson and Norris rising) and they are both set to be the future down the middle for the Sens. So I don't this trade would happen.
