Thats a massive price tag and i dont think that solves the problem you illustrated in the description. Id rather keep Barron and the firsts and be a little more patient then run the risk of making that many assets for players that arent locked up long term and may walk when the habs are actually coming out of the rebuild in a few years.

Yeah the blues have Rosen, Perunovich, Tucker, Bortuzzo trying to get the 7th and 8th D man spots. We gotta give time to our younger guys Tucker and Perunovich

Huh. First time I've seen someone float a Josh-Anderson-to-Seattle trade, so kudos for at least trying something new.
At this point I don't know what fair value for Anderson is; no one can seem to agree on it, so I'll set that aside for now. I don't think Seattle goes for this, mainly because their forward group is so deep that adding someone like Anderson just isn't a pressing need. If they do trade a first round pick for someone it'll likely be for a top-four defenseman or a player with more goalscoring punch.

I think it makes sense for both teams actually. But I know Carolina LOVES Jarvis. So he may be a none starter. But I personally like this for both teams.

We have one slot for a 8+ million player in 24-25 and nylander isnt a 100% fit to our need so I really dont see us making this move for Nylander. If we had another large top 6 winger, we could explore this trade. Since we dont, it doesnt make much sense for us.

Habs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsRafiki</b></div><div>I am with you here. It's not a great trade for either side. Philly doesn't need LHDs. In Montreal, Montembeault has shown he deserves a chance to become a legit #1, and Jake Allen is the perfect "big brother" for him. I don't know enough about Carter Hart beyond that his inconsistency has been a problem in Philly. The Habs need to stabilize things in net, not take on another project.</div></div>
I think that's fair regarding Montembeault.
The critique on Hart isn't really fair however, it's more the team has been extremely inconsistent, not him. save for the 21-22 when he was pretty bad, he has been above average to spectacular in his other 4 years of play.

A deal everyone can live with but no one likes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsRafiki</b></div><div>The trade is about as good as the Jets can expect. But why do it?
My assessment of Beck is very similar to yours, and there's already Dach emerging, which begs the question why the Habs would want to blow the bank on PLD, especially if it doesn't include moving Dvorak out. And what about Monahan?</div></div>
The Monahan signing makes me wonder if that doesn't shut the door on a PLD to Habs trade or at least maybe indicates that whatever Hughes offer is for Dubois is what it is and he isn't willing to move on it.

No and they cant fit him in the cap in 2024. I just mention the offersheet because of many ppl here dont realize that the Habs easily can leverage it. PLD isnt returning more than a mid 1st, cap dump and a mid prospect. The Kings cant even fit PLD this season after they just gave away picks and assets to dump cap. Not to mention PLD isnt signing there long term. The best offer will always come from the Habs and they have the best prospect pool in the league along with two 1sts this season, the rest is just noise.

Depends on a few things like injuries.
but given since 2017 we've had atleat 3-4 regulars out by christmas consistently
yeah probably still a lotto team
I'd like us to take a run at Marcus Foligno for that very reason

Mesar is compensation for taking two years of dead cap in Dvorak.
Norlinder as an LHD has no value to Winnipeg.
The only piece with positive value is Florida's first, which is pretty much a 2nd.
So, this offer is a fraction of what the Jets get for PLD as a rental and the TDL and isn't adequate for a player that the Jets will have no problem trading this summer for pieces that that actually want.
Sorry, it's not a competitive offer.</div></div>
An Emotionally Mature Adult would have said "you gotta RS 50% on Dvorak so he's not a negative asset."
He's a fine 3rd line Center for Faceoffs he's just overpaid

The mental gymnastics..
"Florida's first, which is pretty much a 2nd."
as opposed to a contender trading a 2024 late 1st in worse draft isnt pretty much a 2nd this season and later year drafts picks always have lesser value when pushed down the road.
It's arguing to argue with this guy. Never makes a legitimate point.

There's no world where you're not taking back a contract for PLD</div></div>
That is the only thing stopping a MTL offer sheet in July with Winnipeg not opting for team arbitration. The Habs need to shed cap to fit in PLD with raises due next year and cap overages as theyll be in LTIR again with the Price contract along with the cap still in limbo for 2024.
2025 is where all the bad money comes off the books. Armia or Dvorak must be dealt in any PLD trade to make the salary work, the fact that Jets fan hasn't understood this on a salary cap site is wild!

unthinkable
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsRafiki</b></div><div>That's the opposite of the KK offer sheet. KK was paid a ridiculous $6M+ for one year, which would have handcuffed the Habs the next year because they then would have had to give KK a raise on that to hold his rights. Instead, KK took the $6M and then signed an extension for $4M/ year, which might still be too generous.</div></div>
yes it is different but similiar remember montreal cannot sign him to an offer sheet for 7 or 8 years because when winnipeg matches dubois is stuck.. so it would have to be just like the KK offer sheet at 6.3 mil and winnipeg cant match because they cant trade him then and he walks away for nothing in a year. so it would be a one year offer sheet. No matter anyway he will be traded by the draft i am sure.
