you pay quite a lot for getting your hands on those assets, I believe a little too much actually.
But if you put yourself in the Oilers shoes, what they need is defense. wingers and pick... not sure that will do the job. They need a Nurse, they even made they 1st rounder available in return of a solid D.
The price at which you sign Danault surprise me too. I believe he will be sign above the 3M dollars, under Shaw's salary.</div></div>
I felt like with the addition of lehkonen and pacioretty they finally have the left wingers to play with their speedy centers. Lindgren was added aswell because since talbots season last year it is uncertain he will reach the form of 2 years ago.
On the Edmonton side of the trade this potentially opens up trading lucic and adding 2nd picks to retain no salary so they can go after players such as De Haan and maybe John Carlson in free agency

Montreal wouldn't offer it tbh. Pacioretty is a 30-40 goal scorer, Lehkonen is a 20 goal scorer, Lindgren (with 1 more season) can be a quality starting goalie, Jake Evans is a 2C-3C potential player AND 2 2nd round picks (between 35-50) is a lot to receive.

If there is no garantee in signing i dont see them doing that for a rental. A mtl 2020 1st could be an option but if they dont get tavares and stay the same montreal may be a top 5 pick in that draft aswell so the pick is very valuable.

Tbh, the 2 2nds r only if pac doesnt resign ( some form of compensation. If our top 6 is wingers are zadina, gallagher, lehkonen and galchenyuk im more than happy. We may need to overpay for a LHD and im fine with it cuz we have so many wingers

A re-signed Pacioretty, a waterbug with 2 good years in the NHL, and 2 picks for Muzzin, who's a good, solid Dman but not a dominant one. The idea in any trade is to get the best player in the deal. I don't know if Muzzin is any better at his job than Pacioretty is at his. I'd say 1-for-1, assuming Max accepts a new contract, is a pretty fair swap.</div></div>
Wasn't trying to underrpay but im happy giving pacioretty, Hudon and 2 seconds. Not a garantee pacioretty will resign so the 2 2nds compensate abit. Lehkonen was added so it didnt seem like an underpayment

I think mtl would only trade with Carolina due to their young D prospects. A LHD from carolina and the #11 would check 2 boxes off which they need cuz they would pick Veleno.

The only two prospects this year that I can see starting their career in the NHL are Dahlin and Svechnikov. Tkachuk is an extremely solid prospect, but I have a hard time seeing NCAA players jump straight from college to the NHL. Dahling and Svechnikov both spent the past year in better leagues than the NCAA, and are ready to make that jump to the NHL. Give him half a year to get used to playing against grown men in the AHL and then call him up. No need to rush him, but I do think his skillset is just about NHL ready. Just want to see it against a little better competition before I throw him into the NHL.</div></div>
Ideally if MTL can get #3 i can see Zadina being in the NHL next year. I put Tkachuk in the lineup to show more of how the Current and future of the team would look. I also doubt Veleno would be NHL ready next year but o was putting them in the team to show how it would look for years to come

The purpose of the trade was to get a LHD since i doubt we get Dahlin, AND a great C prospect in Veleno at 11. Doubt Veleno goes lower than 11 so killing 2 birds with 1 stone getting both the LHD and C is ideal. Mcniven will never play in mtl cuz of Price and Lindgren. Using him and Patch as trade bait to get that top 4 LHD and a potential top 6 C is what i was going for

Habs Drafting at #4 (Please rate and comment)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CanesQue</b></div><div>The Bean for Patches idea has been a nonstarter for a while. They philosophically don’t want to trade young D prospects for older vets, particularly with only one year on their contracts. They wouldn’t do it for Duchene last year and I don’t think they’ll deviate to that extent going forward. To make a deal like that, they’d likely want Chucky involved. FLA is probably a better trade partner for Patches.</div></div>
Habs give 2 2nd round picks, McNiven AND pacioretty (who can resign with the Canes) for a Dman who hasn't proven himself yet and the 11th pick. Bean has a high potential but has no space in the Canes roster and will have to look at trading some of their D pieces before they lose them. Pacioretty is one of the better snipers in the game (regardless of this years performance), McNiven (similar situation to bean as he has no space in the habs roster) and 2 40-50 picks is an excellent return

Not John Tavares (rate and comment)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Habs4ever</b></div><div>And I do not mind it when someone does that. As long as it is somewhat realistic, I am not going to poop on someones parade. Sometimes the comments on here are harsh. We do not know if the person on the other end is a 12 year old trying this, an 80 year old or an ex NHL player. So, it is good to temper our responses. Personally I doubt Tavares signs with MTL and Patch is a 30 goal scorer, those guys do not grow on trees. MTL needs a top C a nastier 4th line RW. Similar to Deslauriers but on the RW side. A nastier Alzner and more sound Petry. We have a goalie and plenty of wingers. We also have a decent top 4 for many years once the other 3 (Mete, Juulsen and Reilly) get more seasoning. Reilly with a vet like Weber would really help Reilly. Mete could pair well with Juulsen. Both need a good 15 pounds but they should be good for several years.
I do not agree with complete overhauls. Identify your nucleus and add to it.</div></div>
Tbh im happy with our d-core (juulsen, mete, petry, weber) but in the position we are in the standings, we will most likely end up with hughes or bouchard (d-men). Ideally, i would be obviously happy with dahlin, but if mtl can manage to get Zadina or Svechnikov (while working a deal to get a mid teen pick for veleno) it would be a good draft.
I dont know what it is but i cant see tavares staying with the islanders. They arent a playoff team, and have nothing to offer J.T to stay other than Barzal and Eberle. Mtl will have the most cap space to offer him the best deal so i dont see johnny being too far of a dream

Look for my first comment for a response for ur first part. As for the Galchenuk piece, why would he re sign if it was so garbage? Misuse was an issue i agree, however, he is playing some of his better hockey recently and looks decent with Drouin.

If your referring to Price and Weber they are 30 and 32. Weber will be 40 AT THE END of his contract ( a year after Tavares' contract would expire) and Price would be 38 by the end of his. Edmonton would never be an option because of the lack of cap space but MTL can pay him handsomely and have pieces that can attract him to come that the islanders don't have to make him stay.

Come draft day i am sure schlemko can get a 3rd or 4th (EDM recieved a 3rd for Davidson) and Webers game was never about speed so thats nothing to worry about (See Chara playing with McAvoy). Dahlin would do all the offensive work while Weber plays sound defensive hockey with a boom of a shot. Montreal also have Petry and Juulsen on the right so not as much of a necessity as a LD or a C is.
