Attempting to keep Danault and Tatar
It probably is possible to keep both Tatar and Danault but I’m not sure it’s the best move. IMO we should keep Danault as it would give us very good centre depth and he brings a defensive game that’s very valuable in the playoffs.
Tatar has been a great fit for Montreal but unless he’s willing to take a discount his cap space is too valuable and it’s hard to know if his point production will stay where it’s at. Habs have some winger depth with Caufield coming next season, potentially Ylonen or maybe Poehling gets put on the wing.
I predict we keep Tatar for this season, trade him at the deadline if we’re out of the playoffs or keep him as a rental and move on.

My lines if we have a season
Kulak should be traded, he played well in the playoffs but with Romanov coming up there’s no room for him. Mete has been played on the right side so if Juulsen or Fleury can’t knock him off then he gets the 3 RHD. I don’t think Armia is a fourth liner I’d rather see him with KK and put Toffoli on the left wing.
Really don’t know what the deal is with Danault but with the **** situation Tampa is in right now I’d be trying to convince Cirelli to sign an offer sheet.

Last One to cap it all off
It’s a very nice lineup but you have left no room for Caufield to join next season. If Hoffman would do another 4 year deal I would love to have him but adding him and Duclair is a bit much.
I am unsure what Berge’s plans are for Tatar, I’m wondering if he has made any extension offers to him, I think if he’s not up for a 3-4 year deal I’d consider moving him as his value should be decent right now and I see us contending for a playoff spot so he likely won’t be moved at the deadline.

Struggling with Danault
With the way Montreal is built every line can be effective, I really don’t see it as a 1st, 2nd, 3rd line scenario. If Danault wants to resign then he will and he knows what kind of contract he’s going to get, he won’t ask for more money than Gally and knows that he will always have good linemates and be played in every difficult defensive situation. If he wants to try for a bigger pay day the have at it, truthfully with Gally signed and the team heading in the direction it is I see Danault wanting to stay with the habs long term. As for contract I’d like to see a 5 x $5mil.

Tatar-Suzuki-Gally
Drouin-Danault-Toffoli
Byron-KK-Anderson
Lekhonen-Evans-Armia
ESPECIALLY if Poehling could be the guy he has shown flashes of, the winger depth is too good to not trade for assets.</div></div>
Tatar - Danault - Gally is one of the best 5 on 5 lines in the league. I can’t see them being split up next season.
Personally I think Toffoli gets moved to left wing.
Tatar - Danault - Gally
Drouin - Suzuki - Anderson
Toffoli - KK - Armia
Lehk - Evans - Byron

This is a great looking team for sure, I agree with the comments on here about Duclair teams may be reluctant to sign him long term and joining the habs short term may be a good move for him.
This definitely is a roster that will be in a playoff race and if for some reason they’re not then Duclair and Tatar could become very nice trade pieces at the deadline and the habs can add to their deep prospect pool.

Not sure, our left side is pretty much set and we could use Mete, Juulsen or Cale in 3rd RHD. Unless Carolina was giving him away for a 5th I can’t see us picking him up.

Fair enough, most of those are cap dumps so once those deals stop ya never know. Truthfully it’s more about just getting rid of him.

Very nice Left side and doesn’t even include Byram, it will be interesting. I can see Byram given another year to develop and after next season Graves gets traded to make room for Byram.
Looking good Avs I must admit. I think soon we’re in for Avs vs Rangers in the finals for 3 straight years.

Montreal Offseason update 2022
It’s a very balanced lineup that’s for sure, I will miss Armia but if Anderson works out then there’s really no spot for him as he would cost too much to be a fourth liner.
I am also very interested in seeing what we decide to do with Tatar, he’s been a nice fit.

laine trade ideas
This is about what the habs would be willing to give up. If you want a RHD instead of left Mete can be switched with Fleury or Juulsen. I really can’t see Berge trading KK, Suzuki, Romanov, Caufield and potentially Norlinder with the recent reports of his play.

That Jets trade is not good for the Habs.....Take out the Jets 1st and Caufield. Ehlers is a great fit but giving up Caufield isn’t an option for him. Giving up Domi, a solid young D and a good centre prospect should be enough for Ehlers and if it’s not then walk away or make it work with another pick.

And how exactly do you plan on signing the half of your team who are all on ELC. The Rags are going to be very good event without Eichel, don’t get into deeper cap he’ll by taking on that fat contract.

Laine offers from the Score
The way I see it is teams aren’t going to be willing to sell the farm for one guy as it just ends up creating more holes.
The jets are trying to improve at C and D. A good trade should address those current needs and give one nice piece for the future.

Are you rebuilding or competing for a cup?? If you’re competing for a cup their age is fine, Danault is still at a good age and Petry has been stellar and lots left in the tank.

pietro in nylander to colorado
If The leafs luck out and get AP at a reasonable cost moving Nylander is a smart move. Colorado’s 1st and Timmins is a solid return. Adding AP and Timmins to the RHD really improves the right side going forward. If they want to fill the hole from Nylander that first can be flipped for a solid winger.

We’re not trading both Danault and Domi so we don’t need a 3C. It’s not a terrible trade but I just don’t think it’s what we will see happen. Berge is good at pulling off 1 for 1 deals. Danault should bring in a legit NHL winger and that’s what we need and would want so we can battle for a playoff spot.
