I like it, Value needs some tweaks (certainly in the glendening trade lol) but I like the players they are getting back and can live with the players they are moving

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>I hear what you are saying. And if Mikheyev or Korshkov can be those big guys that grind and also have some hands, then I am all in favour of moving Hyman. Currently though, hes something unique on the team and doesn't cost much. I'd keep him and move someone else.</div></div>
I think every person in the room and in management sees how awesome Hyman is even when fans that don’t know hockey and just like the fancy moves that Hyman doesn’t do, don’t. Hyman is a beast and would be missed on that top line, don’t believe it? Let’s see is Tavares scores at a 50 pace and Marner 100 Point while Hyman is out, I’ll bet not and I’ll bet their plus minus takes a hit, so don’t worry about these fans saying Hyman is gonna be moved cause the team is much smarter than they

Yeah will nye could easily become the player he was two season ago and more and Matthews has just looked insane, literally a video game glitch is the only way to describe him so far

I think you just over complicated it, take out Stanley and Vilardi and you get Roslovic and a 1st in exchange for Martinez and Dumping a $4.1M bad contract, which seems close to me but Winnipeg overrated the hell out of Roslovic so their fans will hate this

Matthews is a beast without Marner on his wing while Tavares has always been very good he got significantly better with Marner, no reason to split them up especially now that Nylander is looking better and might just be a 70 point scorer on Matthews wing

After Hyman and Dermott are healthy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Goulet</b></div><div>Ceci is fine but what does he do that Holl can't and is it worth 3.8M?
Same question for Hyman. Looking at Moore and Mikheyev for example, there is 1.3-1.5M to be saved there as well as possibly acquiring some half decent picks in the process.
Not to mention Petan, or Kapanen for that matter.</div></div>
Because Hyman instead of Moore, Ceci instead of Holl and Kappy instead of Petan is the difference between an good team and a great one, not to mention if those guys are so good we will need someone else good to take their spots or else we are downgrading in that way too, I get ur logic but it doesn’t follow, cause you keep up these minor downgrades and you’ll end up like the oilers with a great core of Mcdavid, Draisaitl and Nugenthopkins but junk playing beside them

Nvm ur right, Idk why I thought he had like a $3M signing bonus, so that will make him more difficult to trade, but even still GMs must see some value in him if both Dorion and Dubas didn’t let him walk, not like this is a contract that used to be good and turned bad, two nhl GMs honestly thought it was worth signing him so I gotta assume other GMs might feel the same even if most fans dont

Trading a 4.5m player without taking money back (which is the purpose of the Ceci trade) just might be the most difficult part.</div></div>
His real dollars are low, he is a serviceable Defense man so a team that isn’t tight on the cap might actually give up an asset to get an ok damn who doesn’t cost much regardless of the 1 year caphit, and they won’t be strong armed into overpaying like with Marleau because they don’t absolutely have to move him, just would be nice

Tampas only issue is leadership and grit in playoffs.. been that way for 4 years</div></div>
Lack of depth? Their third line once Hymans healthy will have 3 40 point scorers.... compared to this 3rd line’s 1, and the fourth is good with Jason Spezza and Freddie Gauthier playing his heart out, not to mention Trevor Moore who didn’t pile up the points (8 in 25) but looked darn good as a rook, so tell me again how their depth is shockingly bad

1) Gauthier....Schmaltz
2) Kivihalme.....Sandin
3) Sandin....Agostino
4) Moore....noone
I hate myself already for saying this but after Ristolainen and Sabourin escapades, seems like Harpur will be in the mix...to many expensive players in the roster to be left out for fun of reckless braindeads....</div></div>
Perhaps Agostino made a better case than Petan or Bracco but I think they have a higher upside and better suit a 3rd scoring line role and dubas will want atleast one of them to be getting NHL games, Mikheyev was far better than Agostino though in every way so I definitely disagree on that one but the others I just think if Agostino was gonna make the team it woulda been on the 4th line

I suppose I’ve been looking for something extra because I thought he had a more offensive style than he has ended up having so far with the organization, but as jamiepo said no news is good news, and I suppose I couldn’t complain if he ends up playing like muzzin playing a solid defensive game while quietly putting up good numbers

I wasn’t overly impressed with Liljegren, certainly didn’t look bad but he didn’t bring much extra to the table like Sandin did IMO, Mikheyev tho looked great after the puck like a dog with a bone and then he gets it and immediately turns from a power forward into a flashy deking skill player, very impressive

I was loving it till I got to Marincin.... how is he NHL worthy? He had one nice play tonight and it was on a risk that I’d rather him not take cause 9/10 times that puck gets by him, and I haven’t hated Ceci so far idk if I’d bump him down based on these two games, Other that tho I like it, but seriously Over Sandin, Kivihalme, heck I’d rather Harpur or Gravel even

I realize Nylander didn’t have alot of finish tn but but when u create that many chances you’re gonna get some decent points and the finish will get to where it used to be as his confidence does, and you put him on the 4th line after all of those chances and a beautiful assist......lol

Is this the most ideal defense core for the next two years
Not primarily a Canucks fan but I do watch as many games as I can living out east, but just IMO I’d have Hughes with Myers as I think Myers can help until Hughes developes all round, then I’d have Edler and Tanev playing about the same minutes as the first pair followed by Benn and Stetcher who I think would be a very good 3rd pair with the ability to fill in when (not if) a top 4 guy is out, as for juolevi I wouldn’t pencil him in until he shows the team really can’t justify not having him in, so far for me I have seen nothing that says he is an NHL D-man or that making the jump would benefit his development, again this is purely IMO

Do we need to make space for extras or are we good with 21 guys
Hyman and Dermott will start season on LTIR so the crunch wont be till next month so by then some question will be answered like is Nylander Bouncing back? Is Ceci serviceable? Is Kerfoot a good 3C or should he move to wing? And a corresponding move will have to be made in a way the frees a little capspace

Likely Ott TDL Moves
I’d give u more than a 4th for Hainsey, I know a lot of Toronto fans ripped on him and he was definitely in over his head but as a #4-5 with some load management I think Hainsey is still a very good shut down defender and while he isn’t the toughest guy in the world he is willing to fight and stand up for teammates which isn’t even his role so that says a lot about his personality which while sometimes is overrated I think it’s still relevant, I’d give a 3rd or maybe a mid tier prospect of similar value but a year or two into development

I didn't necessarily mean that Matthews would want to go home but the Coyotes have been building a pretty decent team actually that's really been derailed by injuries the last couple of seasons so given the ages of their core and where they'll likely be in 5 seasons it's fairly safe to say adding Matthews would make them a contender in the 2025-26 season.</div></div>
I didn’t mean to say ARZ is bad but for thews to leave TOR I think they’d have to be just as good as the leafs which I don’t see that happening, but then again a lot can happen if 5 years so who knows, I just think all the Matthews wanting to leave rumours never had any substance other than that he didn’t like Babcock but the odds are Babs won’t even be here in 5 years lol

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Is the worry that on a 4 year contract that takes him to UFA that he'll walk and sign elsewhere?
Or is it the optics of not buying up any of his UFA years?
I get either of those issues but I think Marner wants to be a Leaf for life and Matthews will be gone after his final year (or earlier) so Dubas shouldn't be worried about signing Marner to a 4 year deal.
Not a Leafs fan but that's just how I see it.</div></div>
The worry is that if he is being this difficult now, then when he has no restrictions he will want a ridiculous amount and if the leafs don’t pay it someone else will, and as for Matthews dipping in 5 years I don’t see that happening unless the leafs fall off or ARZ Suddenly becomes a contender because while it’s nice to go home it is even nicer to win
