VAN-PITT goalie swap if both continue to struggle
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>Could be Jarry+futures (I just put a 2nd to indicate that it's not a 2 for 2). It seems pretty clear that the team isn't going to go through a full rebuild, so they will need a goalie. I just don't know anything about the Pens farm to even attempt to try finding someone who would interest Vancouver. I would assume they want a promising RD prospect+conditional 2nd (turns to a 1st if Pens make the playoffs) or an exchange of other roster players. Demko is better than Jarry and is locked, but Jarry will still have some value in comparison if they are playing on par with each other on the season.</div></div>
I guess. I don't really think Pittsburgh either A) should be trading futures, or B) has particularly interesting futures for Vancouver

It doesn't really matter what you'd rather do, there's no way in hell the Canucks are doing either deals lol

Jarry is in the last year of his contract and Demko still has 3 years remaining. Not to mention Demko is easily the better goalie. The only reason Vancouver would trade Demko is for futures and a 2nd is not that

Canucks decline. If we are trading Demko, it probably means we are blowing it up. Would likely be traded for futures

I would imagine it takes more than Jarry+2nd to land Demko considering the contract situation. The Pearson for Kapanen just seems like something Hextall would do, and I think Rutherford likes Kapanen too but I would also like that move for Vancouver if there is no place for him in Pittsburgh.
Kapanen for JP or Yamamoto might not be a bad idea for both teams, particularly Kapanen for JP. I think trading Yamamoto for Kapanen, could easily be a move EDM regrets if Kapanen doesn't work out. As for Puljujarvi perhaps Edmonton regrets trading him but I think they will also regret keeping him. I don't see him thriving in Edmonton.
Chances are Dumo just ends up staying until next off-season.
The CGY trade was just a joke, if the cap was similar I would have tossed Guentzel instead.

I addressed Myers in the Team Explanation. Think we should flip him next year when he's expiring. Could retain salary too and potentially get a decent piece. Keeping him around this year may even improve our tank.

Rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hamcity</b></div><div>They signed the deal because they did what what the Canucks have been doing for the last 10 years, which is over-estimate how good the team is as a whole and how close they are to being competitive. They made a mistake, and I do believe they will try and fix it. You do not rebuild around a player that is 30. I still don’t think the contract itself is that bad, besides being a little long. It does carry risk in that way, but I think some contenders will consider it if they believe it pushes them over the top. To some contenders, as we’ve seen throughout history, future cap flexibility is not as important as achieving the ultimate goal of winning the cup. In the existence of this interest, I guess we can agree to disagree. Time will tell!</div></div>
Like I said before, I will check back with you once a year for the next 7 year to see where JT is playing hockey. My bet is Vancouver.

He has been since he came into the league as a teenager. 🤷🏻♂️
Lack of offense will limit him to a #4 role though.

Need to change the locker room
the Nashville one is interesting, Johansen comes home and we take on 2 years instead of Jt's 8 years and Nashville gets a higher producing player while the Canucks get a veteran and good locker room guy and can ACTUALLY play defence.
We can probably get better for Bo somewhere else too
Boeser's value isn't that high right now so I say Dallas says no

Yeah sorry that offer is easily beaten, No way you're getting Horvat for that offer. You'd need to include one of either Carlo or Lysell for starters not a bunch of meh players.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>The Canucks probably can't move Miller and even if they could they shouldn't, 1) they won't get much for him or they will get a bad contract back. 2) Signing a player, then trading them away is a very bad look for management. It will lead to some players not wanting to sign with Vancouver, and those that still do will want more trade protection.</div></div>
You may be right. I was thinking of a team like Boston that's facing a generation change. Having someone like Miller could help bridge between the old and new guard. And his 2022-2023 salary is low so could be easily accommodated for playoff run. I don't think Nux mgmt should care about it being a bad look. Canucks need young cost controlled players not more UFAs to sign. Frankly some UFA-aversion would probably be helpful.

Feels like you could get more value for Kuzmenko than Matier and a 3rd. I can see teams lining up out the door to pay a 2nd and B prospect or more for him come the deadline.

I wouldn’t take non playoff team to mean the worst team in the league. It would be sick, but also likely they can’t afford it unless Horvat took a sweetheart extension where he was paid under 7 mil, so they could also fix the major defensive issues they currently have.
