Starting the rebuild accidentally
Kings pass. Can probably resign Talbot and Rittich for about 3m maybe slightly more and keep our 1st.

Not a chance Spense gets 3.5m.
Keeping Kaliyev is a mistake, his time in LA is over.
I could live with the rest.

Merzlikins solution
If the Kings were in a rebuild or something like that I could see why they would do that but to trade down makes no sense for them. The title of a 1st round pick is more appealing to teams then the title of a 2nd round pick and because of that if they were to trade away that 1st it would probably be for a player to help them right now as opposed to getting futures.
I'm not saying this is a bad trade I'm just saying from the Kings end it doesn't make sense.

MTL and LA Roy would then be flipped bought out
Armia hold negative trade value, he was waived once already this year and nobody wanted to touch him and Kaliyev alone is worth a 3rd. So for Roy and Kaliyev you would need to pay at minimum two 2nds maybe even a 1st and a 2nd. So keep dreaming, but that's all this trade is just a dream.

Easy pass for the Kings. Also if any Canadian team wants Roy they are going to have to fork up 6m+ because Canadas taxes are so stupid high.

three chychrun trades id be happy with
Given the state of OTT I cant see them shipping out Chychrun for a return similar to what they paid especially without an extension and only 1yr left on his contract. If there is an extension in play that's a whole nother ball game and depending on what that could look like you might be able to more than these in return.

Jakob to LAK
So the Kings massively overpay OTT for Chychrun and OTT massively underpays for Saros? Dreaming a little bit? Also not going to be able ship out Forsberg so anywhere close to a 4th, if the guy got waived he probably wouldn't be picked up. Roy is not signing anywhere in Canada unless is for an AAV of 6m+ not because hes worth 6m+ but because Canadian taxes are absurdly high.

According to the rumors Ullmark has all the Pacific teams on his NTC and according to the rumors the B's and LA have already tried to make a trade for Ullmark which both teams were good with but Ullmark rejected the trade cause it's a Pacific team. So basically Ullmark won't be traded to the Kings or anywhere West because he doesn't want to come out West.

They have 24m in cap space next season and Byfield is their main priority. They wont have to move on from anyone and still have plenty of cap space.

Kings aren't going to let anyone offer sheet Byfield. Unless a team does something ridiculous like 10m+ that's the only way they wouldn't match it.

We have our own Kulich and a better one in Ziemmer, whom also wont be able to help the Kings win anytime soon.
This would be Byfields 3rd yr in the NHL, if Krebs were to be having even half the season Byfield is we might be having a different discussion but unfortunately he still hasn't devolved the way he should.

Roy and Montour
I can only see Matt Roy leaving LA for one of two conditions, first going home to Detroit or getting paid more money. 6m sounds like a good price but Canadian taxes are so high that Roy could sign for 5m in LA and make more money because of the taxes.

Byfield
This is something different so I'll give you credit for that. However Byfield is hands down the most untouchable player on the Kings, Kopi the hall of famer gets traded before Byfield at this point. However if for some crazy reason Blake decided to get rid of Byfield this package would need a little bit more, like changing that 2nd to another 1st. Peterka and the 1st you already have in the trade are the only pieces of value in the realm of Byfield right now. Krebs has been trash this season and the Kings are a playoff team now so who knows how long it would take for Krebs to get NHL ready.

Dubas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jfkst1</b></div><div>While I think the money retained is a stupid risk for Blake to take, I do think the notion that Dubois isn't' a huge risk to most teams as being equally foolish. PIT is looking at a LONG rebuild so taking a risk on a player that might be a horrible contract is worth the risk/reward profile. A truly competitive team likely won't have the same risk tolerance. If Dubois were effective then great they milk a few more productive years out of the core. If not it's no big deal as they will be rebuilding so having a horrific contract won't stop them from a rebuild. Something like Rakell or more likely Smith at full cap hit for Dubois is probably a consideration for Dubas. Not sure on how the rest of the package would be, but if Blake is trying to move him already as was rumored in the Ullmark deal, then he must have at least some willingness to reverse course with Dubois. I never really understood why LAK were interested in the first place and paying him that much to be 3C is a poor cap allocation. Especially given he hasn't been better than an average 3C.</div></div>
Blake brought in PLD to be the 2C (hoping for prime Jeff Carter type of fit) with Danault being the 3C, clearly PLD has not lived up to expectations so far. Personally idk what Blake saw in the guy to pay so much for him but then again I lost faith in Kempe before he blew up and was starting to lose faith in Byfield before this season and I was clearly wrong about both of them. Outside of Fiala and Talbot I cant think of any trades or signings the Kings have made that stepped in and made an immediate impact on the team so maybe this was just another Blake far sight signing. But all that besides the point Blake has invested far too much into PLD to pay some crazy price to ship him out even with him not living up to expectation.

Pass by the Kings. Kaliyev probably will be shipped before next season starts but it will either in a package for someone or a developing prospect. Harris's 1.4m cap and waiver eligible status has him priced out of LA. If he were still waiver exempt or under 900k this might work but neither of those apply so he's not a good fit or LA.

Dubas
Kings aren't retaining 1.5m for 7yrs and also paying to get rid of the guy. I continue to find it funny that all these people trade for PLD and expect the Kings to pay some ridiculous price to get rid of him only to then throw him in their top 6. If he's going into anyone's top 6 he's got value right? Which raises the question, if he's going into your top 6 that means you think he's a good enough player to play there why would a team pay someone to take a player who that team values enough to play in their top 6?

Are you suggesting PLD+Clarke+ one or two 1st? If Crosby was willing to sign a Kopi type team friendly extension I'd have no problem with that, but without an extension Clarke+ one/two 1st is ALOT to give up for only one season of Crosby.

You're delusional if you think the Kings are retaining (might be the dumbest thing any team could ever do on a max term contract) and paying to move PLD.
