big move at the draft

There is several posts every week and it’s never Kings fans. It’s literally habs fans low balling unrealistic trades that would get Blake fired and responses are also from Habs fans who use it as a platform to trash PLD.
There is another one on ACGM within the last 24 hours.

Playoff Predictions
I really hope L.A beats EDM in the first round assuming that VGK doesn't pass L.A. L. A deserves it and it would be interesting to see what happens in the off season for EDM.

Kings Fans Question
"blake" would have been an interesting Freudian Slip if you were a Kings fan.
In my opinion, he was never a good idea due to fit. Had we needed a #2 C, he would have hit the ground running and would have been fine between Trevor Moore and Kevin Fiala. But we already had Phillip Danault, and his presence there should have come as no surprise to the front-office brain trust (and I use that phrase sarcastically). Note that the sudden upswing in his performance has coincided with Viktor Arvidsson's return to the lineup; imagine how well he would have played between two good wingers, let alone high-quality ones. But all we had to put with him was kids like Kaliyev and LaFerriere and Turcotte.
I actually think that now having seen what DuBois is capable of with actual NHL linemates, Blake will devote his off-season efforts to getting PLD some partners and so any chance that we had to re-sign Matt Roy will evaporate due to the cap situation.

Change of scenery guys
Kings goals in the offseason
1. Sign Byfield
2. Get goalie via trade or signing.
3. Status of roy.
Depending on #2 Kings may not have money for a RHD like savard and would most likely play Clarke and Spence on the right.
I’d look else where to be honest.

Move the Veteran over the Young Guys

That 1st round pick might not even be an NHL player, so why would you do this while also retaining on Matheson?</div></div>
That's ok, you can keep him. Matheson would not be a good Matt Roy replacement, which is what LA will be needing (a shut down defensman that Clarke or Spence can develop with). Not a good fit for both teams.

Are they actually going to end the drought
No, but as long as they prolong Detroit's that's a win.
Nobody is going to make the mistake of hyping this team up anymore (outside of buffalo). The owner is a clown and the average age of the team keeps getting younger. They are what they are. A bunch of question marks that could surprise, but odds are they won't.

Byfield extension talk
Stützle signed his extension before the 90pt season btw.
I think Byfield opts for a shorter term deal. Having a great season right now, but it clearly feels like he's one year out from his true breakout season, and with the cap set to explode in the next two/three years, he's probably leaving way too much money on the table signing long term. Unless the contract is a no doubter this summer, my guess is he opts for a 2-3 year deal. Could be leaving like, 2 or 3 mil a year on the table on the long end of that extension if he signs now.
My guess is on a short term deal 6ish, on a long term deal at least 8.5, though I think he'd be making a mistake to do it.

I think a bridge deal for 3 years makes sense— Kopitar, Doughty, and Danault contracts are up at that point and will provide more than enough cap space to re-sign.

Right around Cozens on long-term deal...maybe $7.25m to $7.5m.
$8m plus x 8 years at age 21 is really top echelon of players (McDavid, Draisaitl, Eichel, Hughes, Stutzle are only ones)
Or bridge in high $4 millions...maybe $5m

3 years @ ~$6.75M or 8 years @ ~$9M.
I think the bridge vs long-term will depend on Matt Roy. If he's willing to extend at a reasonable amount, then the Kings will go with the bridge so that they can afford both.
If Roy prices himself out of LA, then I think the Kings will look to lock up Byfield long term this summer.

That Kings trade is a bit wack. Maybe you argue Roy & Chycrun are equivalent (personally I prefer Roy) & putting aside why Kings would do this when they’re heading to playoffs…one extra year term for Chycrun is worth that haul 🤯? That’s wack
