Oilers Playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>habs_fan123</b></div><div>Bouchard is RD</div></div>
I think he means we have 4 LHD so one of them has to be moved or else we have Benning, Bouchard and Larsson on RHD and then a guy like Russell sitting on the bench.

EDM Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GO_HABS_GO</b></div><div>NOT FAIR AT ALL...EDM should give his 1st pick just because Lucic is included...
So MTL is trading a 35+ goals scorer + his best forward prospect + 1st pick 3OA + 2nd pick in exchange of Draisaitl ... makes no sense</div></div>
I don't think it makes sense for either team. Remember Pacioretty had a terrible season, Draisaitl is 22 years old and way better than Pacioretty already. Draisaitl is a near untouchable and Pacioretty isn't worth near what draisaitl is. The Sherbak Pacioretty plus 3rd overall is worth about Draisaitl and the 10th overall if anything the Oilers still lose on that trade. So yes it is a fairly close to realistic trade, you are just over valuing Max Pacioretty or undervaluing Leon Draisaitl.

Edmonton Oilers signed Keegan Lowe (2 Years / $675,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KSIxSKULLS</b></div><div>Considering Edmonton is buying out Gryba, he is Grybas replacement right now</div></div>
Technically yes, but if the Oilers sign anyone the replacement is Bear. Word is they are looking for a RHD right now and if no one moves then Lowe would slide to 8

Fairly close to fair trade value although I don't think Draisaitl is on the market at all.

Jackets and Oilers Trade
This is not a fair trade for Edmonton in any way shape or form. Caleb Jones is our second best D prospect (behind Bear), we lose Nugent Hopkins who is set to have a career year on Mcdavids wing, our top wing prospect who was 4th overall and to boot we move down in the draft? Also aside from that you did that whole trade just to put Puljujarvi on the 4th line? Oilers would be in severe trouble as they would lose there best RW and there best LW (Nuge) in one swing. Wed get Panarin back but we are lacking on the wing to begin with. Our lineup would then be...
Milano-Mcdavid-Rattie
Panarin-Draisaitl-???
Lucic-Strome-Caggiula
Aberg-Khaira-Kassian
So now we are left with no Right wingers at all. Caggiula is a 3rd liner max, Kassian is 4th line and Rattie just came out of the AHL and looks average with Mcdavid. Aside from this losing our 10th pick we lose out the chance to acquire Bouchard or Wahlstrom.

Edmonton Oilers signed Drake Caggiula (2 Years / $1,500,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>Watch the Oilers every game, I don't see the potential. And $1.5M is $1.5M, could be better spent elsewhere. Why is this the first RFA signing of the summer anyhow? Shouldn't Chiarelli get the more important ones done first? You know, Nurse, Benning, Strome. He's going to get into July and find that he doesn't have enough cap room to sign a core player because he wasted $2.5M on a backup and $1.5M on a 4th liner.</div></div>
I watched every Oilers game as well, I would say at the end of the year especially he was one of the most energetic and noticeable players on the team. I expect Caggiula to be a middle 6 energy winger with Zucker like potential.

Vancouver Canucks signed Richard Bachman (2 Years / $675,000 AAV)
At 675k its hard to deem this as a bad signing. Bachman is in place to nurture Demko into the lineup and play 3rd string role once Demko is a regular.

All in all this is a signing the Oilers had no choice but to make. Matt Benning had all the leverage in the world as the Oilers were severely lacking on RHD.

Wow Oilers select Ty Smith over Oliver Wahlstrom? They are in search of RHD and wingers, don't know why they'd do this.

Oilers Realistic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FlamesBlow</b></div><div>In a realistic world there is no way the oilers feel the need to pick up the Shaw contract, we're better off just using Khaira at center... especially if the alternative is having him in the top 6. He brings alot to the table but isnt a top 6 guy.</div></div>
I agree with what you are saying. However we need a solid RHD. Larsson is the only proven RHD in our system. In order to have a complete d core we need to get a better RHD that can play in the NHL. The only way we can afford Sustr is by chopping some cap. A way we can do that is by trading Sekera for Shaw. We shed 1,600,000 in cap space and we acquire a 2nd round pick for our 3rd at the same time. This saves us cap space and gives us a better pick to improve our prospect pool long term. Khaira is not a top 6 guy but either is Puljujarvi at his current state. The reason I think Shaw is a good addition is that we can bump him anywhere Centre or RW in the bottom 6 at our discretion. If we keep Sekera we have 4 LHD and 2 RHD, aside from that we pay more money and still need a RW or C. TO add to this Shaw is a much better face-off man than Khaira averaging 54.5% in the circle in his last 2 seasons.

Thats a mighty one sided trade between Dallas and Edmonton. Coming from an Oilers fan that just isn't a fair evaluation.

Marc Bergevin Risks it all
The trade involving Ottawa is very one sided for Montreal. Aside from that Mark Stone just had 1.07 points per game last season. Looking at Lucic making 6x7, I would take a shot in the dark and guess that Stone signs for more that 5,500,000 a season. Fun thinking about big moves like this though.
