Vasi NOOOOOOO thats so much money
He is great I am not questioning that, he earned every penny. Vasi has held his end of the bargain for a while, the cap crunch is going to be so rough.

Buffalo Sabres signed Evan Rodrigues (1 Year / $2,000,000 AAV)
It's a 1 year deal, nothing to fear, he could be part of a trade at the tdl to buy a bigger piece. No sweat.

Idk, it's really hard to say how long and how much for him rn. Next season will decide. Hopefully he will step up...
Can't wait to see all these prospects tho. Stephens, Foote, Raddysh, Volkov, BB,...</div></div>
Same here, i projected volkov and joseph making the team last season . . . 50%. so this year volkov should make it, I really want foote to make it this year, I think he could hang he has size and is a young lad so he could turn heads like cernak. also cost control helps. I'd rather see foote in the line up for building chemistry with guys like mcd and heds since foote cernak and serg will likely be our right side for the next few years as long as serg can prove that he can compete in the top 4 I'll have more confidence in our D since mcd and heds are veteran leaders that can teach the younger guys a few things and improve the unique mold of their styles . Which would set our D 5/6 and I like the idea of knowing what we are working with down the line. Also just my perspective Foote>schenn rutta witowski youth baby

I'd give it to him,8.5-9 million x 5-6 years call it a day. if point gets a 2 year bridge with a 5-6 million cap hit JB would be a God

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>makes zero sense. ever since that 2nd cup win hes been off his rocker. I don't know what on earth happened to him. this was the same guy who turned Scuderi into Daley, Sutter into Bonino, underperforming Perron into hagalin, a third into schultz, added kessel, etc... hes made a couple solid moves since 2017 but majority have been risky to downright ridiculous. this team was built on the philosophy of speed. now hes trying to turn this into a hard hitting slow team. as a fan its frustrating to watch because under good management, pens could still contend for several more seasons. now they could be on the verge of missing the playoffs...</div></div>
It's a sad time considering the team is destroying themselves it would be different if age was taking them down but well yeah the philosophy of speed changed to face punching tom wilson really did a number on JR. it's cool to see other teams accelerate but this is pedaling towards mcdavid carrying the oilers territory

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>petterson is practically untouchable at this point. behind dumo he's our only serviceable LHD that can play top 4.</div></div>
well i mean the pens have made some questionable trades and signings for obscure reasons JR has gained tanev, gudbranson and the icing on the cake Johnson. They moved kessel and apperantly letangs name has come up . . . so I mean JR is a sack of cats crazy. I'd expect anything to happen at this point. Not that the pens should make these moves but I believe the only untouchable is crosby maybe malkin. I like when the pens go deep because they have one of the best players in the world and the nhl fans deserve to see the best. JR is ruining this team but yet brought it glory so it's weird.

Marner takes less if he doesnt get an offersheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Thanks. No every does:D Interesting many FANatics bath in the glory in the signing a UFA....that's perfectly acceptable. But when one of their own UFAs sign with another team, it's like ripping a child from their mother.</div></div>
It's emotional attachment to the players. Which is understandable but the players don't give a **** which why should they, it's a business about money once people realize that, it'll be more about winning than who is on your team that wins for you.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Doesn't really matter if all three are due in five years. They will be free agents the math says you're chance of sign a UFA including your own is one on thirty two. If the Leafs are contenders that will be Leafs till June 2024. If not they might be traded by the TDL 2024. If they are unsigned as UFAs...well that's 28m to spend on other players. No problem that's the nature of contracts and free agency.</div></div>
Always like hearing from you palhal.

Oh I'm aware of cap hell, but that's 5 years from now problem. If they can't win a cup or go super deep in the playoffs with this core in that time frame I'd imagine there would be some changes so yeah they are on the clock.

Callahan on LTIR
I'd like to address a couple things, thank you Cally for everything you have done, you are a great leader and tough as nails it's unfortunate for you to go out like this. Father time, health issues and the lifestyle of this sport catches up to everyone eventually. I hope he lives a long life and stays within the organization in some way I like his spirit and if it wasn't for his contract I would have wanted him to stick around longer. I even wanted to launder him like the caps did with Orpik. Callahan did decline but I remember when he played top minutes with Stamkos after the st Louis trade those are the memories I'll keep close. Thank you Cally.

It's a decent deal that makes sense for both parties, worst case he gets rotated out of the line-up. With sheltered minutes to be expected he could be useful in a 3rd pairing role still.
