Why would Ottawa do this exactly?
Here's a playing-well Duclair and an on fire JGP for a guy over in Europe.

If Cholowski doesn't pick up his defensive play not much is going to come of him. Hronek is years beyond him at this point even though he's from a round later.

Krug
Can't see a reason to go for Turris if only for 4C, might as well ride Nielsen out at 4C. Probably a bit optimistic Byfield will be able to step in at 2C and drive a line. More likely 3C if we're lucky to draft him.

What lines should be without Mo
I'm fine with these. Putting Zadina against top lines might be a bit tough though. Helm is dominating possession this year, most fans would be against him on the top line but there's some merit to that as well. His was the only line last night (vs. Carolina) with positive possession. If the top line could be a positive possession line while taking the heat off lines two and three we might be able to get something going.
Bert - Larkin - Helm
AA - Fil - Zadina
Perlini - LGD - Fabbri.
I don't think you'll get a ton out of the top line but winning the possession battle would be a good start there. They were terrible last night with Fabbri.

Next years DET team
4th rounder is probably a bit low for LGD. I'd be surprised if all 3 AHL forwards make the team out of camp. Going to guess Seider is playing 2nd/3rd RD next year as well. I have a hard time believing they're going to re-sign Howard.

If there are Chicago fans that think this trade is even plausible, then I beg they question their sanity and re-evaluate their hockey loyalties.</div></div>
People offended or outraged by hypothetical sports trades on the internet - as though they were somehow important or serious - probably need to re-evaluate their lives. That said, I was just looking to see how people valued dead-cap/bad-cap.

Definitely a bad contract. But I'm trading for an 18 year old RH center who can produce at even strength in the NHL. It's like mortgaging the house to bid on a unicorn.

Steve did not offer a 2022 first rounder and Kaski. That was a purely outlandish rumor.

I think once he learns how to find space and play away from the puck at the pro level he'll be fine. Probably not 40-goal-scorer fine but I think he'll hit 30 at some point with that release. Shot is lightning fast when he gets it off.

Theoretical future value is not equal to actual value. Cholowski is a hypothetical top 4 defenseman and Zadina is a hypothetical top-9 NHL forward. Werenski is an actual #2/3 NHL defenseman. Not sure how people don't get this concept. And this is coming from a Wings' fan. This is like saying I'll give you an ounce of silver for your $50 bill.

As of right now I think Kaski might the staring 3rd pair RD spot. Just a feeling. Griffins have logjams at pretty much every position other than forward. Crazy to think that Turgeon was a possible 4C upcoming to the NHL and now he's basically permanently buried on the depth chart.

RW roster might look like this
Organization has stated they see Athanasiou on the wing moving forward, which is why they went out and signed Filppula. Rasmussen and Erne playing below Abdelkader and LGD would make little sense, Rasmussen would be much better served playing top-6 in GR in that situation. Highly doubt they would keep him up to play him 8-10 minutes a night.

If the Wings can get a lottery pick with the 2020 first rounder, that player is likely better than everybody included in your trade (even if top-5 it's possible they're all better in 2020). Wouldn't do it.

If the trade proposed was what it took then I think that would be worth it to find out. Bowey is nearly on the outside looking in as it is. That said, I don't think Vegas would make that trade. Lindstrom + Wings' 2020 2nd would do it I'm sure though.

I would just offer sheet Gusev. $4Mish, give or take a bit but the compensation is only a 2nd round pick. I do that all day for a RH shot who projects middle-six that's the same age as the core we're building. Don't think Vegas could match with their cap without having to make some serious moves and given he's never played for them, I'm not sure that they would bother.

Pretty similar stats sure. In this situation you'd have to sign Aho first. The offer sheet was always going to cost more. Might have to give Aho only 5 years to get the lower number.
