<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RazWild</b></div><div>Christ, you really are ignorant aren't you?

Again, Rossi missed an ENTIRE YEAR OF CRUCIAL DEVELOPMENT TIME, it's more correct to put his development around D+2 then D+3.

THAT MATTERS.

Furthermore, if you think being near a PPG in his first season back from that missed season, and at a PPG in his 2nd season down in the AHL is <em>mediocre</em>.... ooooh boy. I'm not sure that word means what you think it means.

He was literally still just ranked as a top 30 prospect in the league by Wheeler of the Athletic and as the 62nd best player/prospect on Pronman's under 23 rankings which includes players who've already graduated to the NHL. That's in spite of the fact Pronman is a known disliker of Rossi.

Finally, no player is a bust at 21. Where they where drafted is and will always be irrelevant. It takes up to a player's age 23 season for them to typically develop and fully mature as a player if they're a forward, 25-26 for defenseman, and 26-27 for goaltending.

It's often been stated by professionals that it typically takes around 164 games in the NHL level to know what and who a player is. Rossi has played barely 20 games to date.

By your metric. Then players like Jack Hughes, Brayden Point, Joel Eriksson-Ek, and Tage Thompson are all *busts*, because they didn't produce right away. The expectation that players do so is and always be asinine. Players that produce right away are always the exception, not the rule.</div></div>

Really well said.

When one person goes against the grain it generally doesn't make them right. They are the outlier in the overall consensus.

I remember a 67's staff member said that they could count on Rossi and someone else for 4 pts a night. He was that dominant in junior even before his draft year.

As a Sens fan, I'm hoping for a Minnesota and Ottawa final with Rossi playing a big part for Minnesota and Sokolov playing a big part for Ottawa.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Snowhawk18</b></div><div>A player is only cap dump if they are moved because the team trading them values the cap space more than the player, to this point Joseph does not fit that criteria.

It’s funny Sens fans get all bent out of shape when I say I wouldn’t take Joseph for less then a 1st round pick or two 2nd round picks, I’m not saying he can’t be useful, I am merely saying he is not a player I look at and say if he is available then Davidson absolutely has to go out and get him. At best Joseph would be a minor upgrade for the bottom two lines which does nothing as far as making the team significantly better. The Hawks are a bottom 5/6 team with or without Joseph.

At this point in the Hawks rebuild it is essential that Chicago maximizes their return on trading their cap space, acquiring young cost controlled impactful assets; those assets for the most part are acquired through the draft, so as I have stated many times in order for Chicago to take on a $3m player for the next three season and pay that player $9.3m in actual $$$ the Senators have to pay a hefty price. Capfriendly itself tweeted a couple weeks back that $5m in cap space is the going rate for a 1st round pick, now since this situation is $3m per season, $9m over the remaining term we can debate whether Joseph’s contract falls into that compensation class but that is why I am saying the Hawks should accept two 2nds as an alternative or potentially one 2nd and a solid prospect. Regardless, the rates have been set with prior trades and I think you will be hard pressed to find too many instances of a team taking on similar camp dumps/players they don’t really need for one 2nd round pick or heaven for bid actually give away assets for them. Given the current salary cap climate I am comfortable saying it is very unlikely to happen.

As a player with 5 partial years in the league Joseph is what he has shown himself to be, a fourth line winger who can bump up to the third in a pinch. <strong>An energy guy who can be used as a PK rotational piece. To expect a player who to this point at 26 years old to jump from the 28 points per 82 game player to 50 - 60 points is very unrealistic, if he had that potential he would still be in Tampa.[</strong>/quote]

</div></div>

It is important to remember that Joseph was traded for Paul, who is a very good player and he was the main part of that return. The Sens were banking on that potential.

Also considering Joseph's cap dump value is tough because as you said 5m in cap space is a 1st round in value. However, his contract is going to continue when the salary cap explodes meaning that his contract will become a steal in 1 to 2 years time when 3rd and 4th liners are regularly paid that much.

All things considered, if he is dumped, there will probably be compensation, but not as much for a player with a higher AAV and less use.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MitchJr</b></div><div>Obsessed, hardly. But I must admit I do enjoy the totally ridiculous &amp; unjustifiable bravado of SENs fans. <strong>Can’t think of any other bad team whose fans post how good they are despite the objective results that state otherwise.</strong> You missed the playoffs six straight years yet are posting that you are cup contenders 😅. Keep it coming 😂</div></div>

There a regular season team. Their fans hype them up every year, then every year they fall flat in the playoffs.

The results state that they are not a very good team come the playoffs.

At the very least Ottawa has a team, that if they make it there, will cause problems with their physical and fast style of play.

All the Leafs know is that they're brains turn off in the playoffs.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>Matthews finished 38th in Selke voting in his rookie year... and was about to finish 16th this year... He's also only been a minus player 1 time in his 1rst 3 seasons

Kampf's there to make sure Matthews gets a break... Whereas Stuzle hasn't done anything to prove he's a good player on the defensive side of the puck... Also McDavid and Draisaitl are awful defensively, so not the best example being put next to Matthews</div></div>

38th means that he wasn't even the best defensive forward on his own team. Also, it likely means that he got 1 last-place vote which is not hard to get if the writer bases it more on his other achievements and thinks he has underated defense.

Also Selke voting is strange, because looking at this years vote Danault got less points that Matthew Tkachuk. Somehow. An elite offensive winger got more points that one of the best defensive centers in the game.

Stutzle is also proving himself to be a more prolific scorer, because his D+3 season scoring would have outscored Matthews in all but one of his seasons. Which was when he put up 60 goals. They were also comparable points wise in their D+2 season. As Matthews had 63 points in 62 games. And Stutzle had 58 points in 79 games. A lot more points per game, but it's worth remembering the Sens got screwed by the league twice and had to play with long stretches with an AHL team because their entire NHL team had Covid. So the quality of linemates was way down. Also worth noting it was still a Covid season.
