We'd prefer to have a 2nd, even if it's in 2025. If that works for Florida, definitely keep Luostarinen.

I did figure out that 9.5 on Florida is about equal to 11.5 in Canada. So I can see him taking what would look like a discount compared to what some other teams can offer. That said, he will still want to get paid. 9.5 is basically the same as Nylander.

I might be your best this season but he’s certainly far from a teams top player and not a player you build a team around. He’d be your best player now. Yeah probs granny or eklund, I mean I get your point but its not like he would be far and above our best player, maybe given an opportunity on San Jose's top line or something he will perform as our best player, but who knows. I would love to see him on San Jose.

Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey91</b></div><div>I know I agree. But I’m just on the edge of is he doing this cause of a contract year or will this be his norm. First year he has like a ppg last year he was terrible first 25 games then was at a ppg pace again. Their defense has not been that good in the past few years so I’d rather maybe that better and lose some offense but that would mean lundell has to make a step forward which he hasn’t. Interesting off season incoming</div></div>
Definitely. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if more teams started taking the Kyle Davidson approach. Maybe not full on teardowns like CHI, but having patience, not being afraid to trim the fat, and getting away from this culture of valuing offense way above defense. Yeah, offense is important and sells tickets, i guess, but it isn't everything.

Fair point, but my concern is mainly improving the Flames, so that would be FLA’s problem

Avs should decline that offer too. I hope Bennett does keep playing well for you though. From a neutral PoV it would be awesome to see the cats knock off the bears.

Drastic Turnaround
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey91</b></div><div>Weegar was gone regardless he’s overrated. He’s a turnover monster that cost two games against tampa plus multiple games last year. He’s doing the same in Calgary. But I agree with keeping the team at the deadline last year but I’m convinced that owner ship wanted soemthing like that to happen not zito. But we dont know that. And I was okay with that trade cause huberdeau would have cost more than tkachuk plus adding in weegar a contract would have been tough at their ages. They needed to move on cause huberdeau is only a passing guy. He refused to shoot the puck and it’s annoying.</div></div>
Welp, this offseason will certainly tell a story of where the higher ups think the Panthers are.

The Price is Right for Sam Bennett
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LafayetteAvsFan</b></div><div>REALLY low odds of making playoffs. Have played more games than anyone but NYI.</div></div>
Im aware of their position in the standings. This trade makes no sense for the Panthers, and if they WERE to entertain a trade for Bennett, this return doesn't make sense either. Regardless of them missing or making the playoffs, you're trading with a team who has announced they are competing for a cup. They have no draft capital, a thin prospect pool, and players in their prime. Bennett has a good contract and is a big part of Floridas team in a lot of different ways. The only way they would trade out one of their vital roster players is if they could deepen their roster or plug holes that they have. Bennett for a guy like Girard is more plausible. They are lacking talented top 9 players who can really contribute offensively, and defensive depth. This trade doesn't make them better and in all likelihood doesn't help them in the next 3-5 years

Yeah. And with more than 11M in cap space for next season, there really isn't any reason to do anything but stand pat. Maybe trade the Staals for mid-round picks, idk. Especially Marc because he is awful :D

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey91</b></div><div>While I agree with you saying we dont need depth. And to take on cap. I’d accept this as Florida. Get a second back. But not sure this helps since they are only 3 points out of a spot and have points in like 9/10 of their last games.</div></div>
Yes but Florida doesn’t have cap they can’t activate duclair till they move 3 mill. So not only are they downgrading in the defensive department and not really improving the offence but they are just gonna end up having to sell on duclair/ Reinhart or Bennett for a lesser return then wanted or they will just end up using that 2nd to move a cap dump.
Either way don’t see this trade being beneficial to Florida. If they are gonna move gudas I’m sure he will have lots of interest. Big RHD are in need right now and add on his physicality, willingness to fight and step up for teammates.
I’m sure a team like Edmonton/ Buffalo/ Winnipeg/ Toronto(without cap dump back)/ Washington/ etc etc would pay a pretty penny for his services
