I agree 100%. I've been defending Voynov for a very long time now and that's the best and smartest comment that has ever came out of anybody's mouth on here regarding the topic. You make a good point!

Keep in mind he was 24 or 25 and ****faced when he did it. He is almost 30 now. He is still married to the same wife and they have 2 girls. NHL has already investigated him to determined if anything has happened since and nothing has. He screwed up, learned from it, and now has an opportunity of a 2nd chance with the NHL. If I am General Manager in a playoff spot I look at it like this: If the NHL has decided he has earned his right to play in the NHL again and has paid his dues, then I ask myself this question: Can Slava Voynov help my team win? Your fkn A right he can. SIGNED. If many in the fanbase don't like it, they will get over it. Especially when they see him play. Voynov is doing very well in the KHL right now and already has 2 Stanley Cups, he knows what it takes to win.

Here’s an idea, trade Allen and maybe Bortuzzo and Steen. Dunn can hopefully be signed 2x3 and Bouwmeester won’t get that much. I could see him signing league minimum, but more likely 1M. Sanford can be traded too. There are so many ways to clear space for Petro. He holds the key. He will take a discount I imagine.

Well they have $2,864,583 in TDL cap space. If you offered LA a 2nd and 3rd round pick I'm sure they retain 2.3(half of his contract) then problem solved. Good team

Getting better faster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>burg</b></div><div>There’s no guarantee that Backstrom will be the same player at the end of his contract, plus I think he’ll end up re-signing in Washington. I can say the same about Torey Krug and Mikael Granlund. Those were exactly the same problems that Ken Holland had near the end of his tenure as Red Wings GM. Ok, Granlund and Krug are still young, but they’ll be out of their prime by the time their contracts are up.</div></div>
I'm not worried as much about Krug. Granlund at 6M bc his value has obv dropped, It won't be that bad, cap is only going to go up. Within 3 years we are probably going to look at 6M contracts the way we look at 4M contracts with the cap going up and players wanting more money. I agree with you on Backstrom I am sure he will resign in Washington. Backstrom to the Wings is a big stretch. Maybe Granlund can be tried at C or maybe Veleno will be ready, who knows.

The fair is great and arguable the best in the league, but Kings have to get better very quick otherwise they are going to lose the last few really good years of Kopitar, Brown, and Doughty.

Can help with additional goal scoring with Tarasenko gone, having a defensive system helps with his defensive flaws because everyone around him is good defensively, he’s actually not very slow at all, his skills are fine he got 34 points last year with an injury and playing on the 3rd and 4th lines while being harassed by the head coaches, Blues are in a possibly to repeat another cup and Kyrou is young and won’t produce as much as Kovi in the top 6. Kovalchuk was off to a good start this year. It wasn’t his fault. The Kings haven’t been fair to him one bit.

There’s no blessing in that when Kopitar and Doughty are tired and washed up from carrying this team by then. Kings need to get better not worse. They aren’t as bad as everyone thinks even right now if you really look into. Give that roster a makeover and see the different look better and better. Kings need to be BIG free agency players this offseason.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Agreed, but as my construction shows, unless I am way off on how much the internal re-signings are going to cost, there isn't much room for a free agent unless Blake can move either Jeff Carter or Jonathan Quick off the books.
I hope that "The Plan" includes not getting shoved down to fifth place in the draft. Kirby Dach or Kaapo Kakko sure would make a difference. Maybe Turcotte will eventually have a similar impact.</div></div>
Kings will have a lot of cap space. The only one that will get over 2m is Walker and I project it being a 2M for 3 years type of deal. Possibly less not more. Cliffy will be less than 1.5m long term. 4 years or so.
Kings can look like this if they wanted:
Hall Kopitar Brown
Carter Turcotte Vilardi
Kempe Anderson-Dolan Simmonds/Grundström
Clifford Lizotte Wagner
Amadio
Bjornfot Doughty
Muzzin Barrie
Martinez Walker
MacDermid
Petersen
Quick
Campbell
Thats without trading Carter and Quick. If they traded Carter that’s almost another 6M in cap space.

Don’t be too down. Kings are among the top of the league in possession and corsi. Although 1st in shots against. The issue comes down to the roster itself. Hopefully Turcotte, Vilardi, JAD, Bjornfot and maybe Clague can make a good impact next season. Blake needs to be a player in free agency this is the year to do it. If not then he should be fired. He says the plan is “The Plan” and nobody even knows what it is and I’m convinced he doesn’t either. I’ve been saying for awhile now this off-season coming up will be a defining time for Rob Blake as GM if he doesn’t show his offers to players via FA to the owners within 1 week he should be fired.

Kreider retained is the next best option. Palmieri with that much retained probably wouldn't cause much issue because a few of Steen, Bozak, Allen, Bortuzzo have to be traded to make room for Petro and Dunn. MIGHT find an extra 2.5M after all that
