<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>buchnevichh</b></div><div>The real loser is brannstrom. He has to go play in Ottawa</div></div>
TBH OTT will be looking real good in a couple years. Dorion gets ripped on a lot for the original duchene/hoffman trades (deservedly so), but he has done a real nice job of getting assets for them as rentals. They are loaded with picks and top end prospects and by the time Brannstrom is entering his prime he will be surrounded with talent

I don't see how it's more value. I don't see the Stars resigning him, and I don't see them making it to the 3rd round. You never know though. But they aren't exactly a favorite to get there. I thinking making the deal you know that and are OK with it if you are NY.
It's almost the exact same deal.

2nd round pick and bowey for at best a 3rd pairing defensemen. Not a very good trade for Washington

This trade is fair, but I think turning Pearson to 3rd and a conditional 6th is kinda meh.

Your Yahoo fantasy team line-up?
C: John Tavares & Mark Scheifele
LW/RW: Jonathan Marchessault, Taylor Hall (IR), Max Pacioretty, Leon Draisaitl, Sam Reinhart, Brandon Tanev, Kyle Palmieri, & Mats Zuccarello
D: Morgan Rielly, Ryan Pulock, Tyson Barrie, & Shayne Gostisbehere
G: Frederik Andersen & Darcy Kuemper
Losing Hall, my 2nd round pick, has hurt tremendously, especially with Palmieri. I picked up Zuccarello on waivers about 4 weeks ago, which was a huge score. I traded for Draisaitl somewhere around week 2-3. Tanev has been a monster in hits and has even been chipping in offensively of late. My 3 Leafs (Tavares, Rielly, & Andersen) have probably been my MVP's thus far.
I'm currently in 2nd place w/ 218 points. I'm 12 points out of 1st place and 16 points ahead of 3rd place w/ 2 weeks remaining until the start of the playoffs. Only 11 points separate 3rd place from 7th place.

A Question
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>awesome</b></div><div>if you retain a lot of salary on him it defeats the purpose of trading him. From my understanding could bury him in the minors and save 1million on his cap hit if they really wanted to save some money on him.</div></div>
That is what Montreal is doing with Karl Alzner, so it makes sense to do that.

Maatta is better than both easily. Problem is he is injured right now.

Montreal trades down, let’s say maximum 20 picks in the mid-round for a solid 4th line center. Good pickup for the habs.

Not nearly as much as MIN next 4th round pick (No. 107).
It was traded 5 times already! Including a back and forth to Dallas and packaged in a bundle with Brassard.

(PIT/FLA) - Brassard, Sheahan, and multiple picks for Bjugstad, McCann
Pens pay to add term and upside with bjugstad. Brassman was never a good fit and pens are happy to move on. At this point, he was a sunk cost.
If bjugstad can stay healthy then this is an easy win for the pens as he can fill the 3C void since bonino left for years to come.
