Montreal Canadiens signed Alexander Romanov (3 Years / $1,177,500 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ConnorMcHellebucyk</b></div><div>Great signing.
This increases the canadiens chance against the Pens.
It's going to be a fun series!</div></div>
Unfortunately from what I've read, he's ineligible to play this year.
The signing is more to be able to keep him around the team and practice w/ them.
Sucks to burn year 1 of his ELC, but during the pandemic it was the best decision to keep him around high level professional hockey

Dream scenario waiving NTCs and cap 84 mil
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MaxDomi13</b></div><div>We'll take him if TBL pays</div></div>
Even then, taking his cap hit for the next 5 years for, say, a bottom 5 1st round isn't worth it.
The only thing he'll bring is blocking cap space and stalling a possible playoff attempt for the next 5 years. That locked up cap space will also block us from resigning key players and making trades in the future. As for the (maybe) bottom 5 1st to take the dump, I just don't trust current management w/ later picks. Their scouting isn't good.
It's just not worth it honestly. This "reset" is just never going to end if we keep doing bad moves like that and we'll end up in a worse situation that what the Sabres are currently in.

The Habs don't want Gourde.
Please stop spamming him to MTL. And don't say "oh, but he's from Quebec, so they must want him". No, that doesn't change the fact that he's a small forward (which we have plenty) and he's on a terrible contract (which we have plenty).
Sincerely,
A Habs fan

Umm, no. His market value is set to a 2020 1st + with the recent trades.
We could do a comparable Zucker deal: 2020 1st, Puljujarvi, Manning or Russell (whichever you're willing to part with the most and if Russell waives).

Ouch! Just watch out with yours digs at teams, because it's pretty easy to make a comeback against the Oilers

Another attempt at Lafreniere
The only way to get Lafrenière is by winning the lottery, and the teams that will make those moves won't be lottery picks but teams making the playoffs, bubble teams won't make that gamble.
You won't be able to trade for a pick to get Lafrenière, remember in 2015, Bruins wanted to move their 3 1sts to Buffalo for 2nd overall, the gap between those picks is too big to make a move.

Taylor Hall is Scratched Tonight a Penguin Tomorrow
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jasondomitrovic</b></div><div>Have you been watching any games lately. Like the last 3 shutouts by Tristan Jarry?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jasondomitrovic</b></div><div>Yes and if you READ YOUR OWN POST you will see how (Non-Sensical) it sounds because BUD we won TWO Stanley Cups with a Goalie (Matt Murray) who had ZERO!!!! playoff experience and barely any NHL games and he went onto WIN a Stanley Cup even BEFORE his actual "Rookie Year". He also had hardly any regular season games and SO therefore how could you say Jarry can't do what Murray did. In fact, Jarry was drafted HIGHER than Murray and has more time to develop in the AHL. So when you say ONLY BAD THINGS CAN HAPPEN, then you obviously forgot about our back 2 back Stanley Cup winning years of 2016 & 2017.</div></div>
Jarry is way too small of a sample size to make a rash decision rn. Sure he's having a good stretch, just as any goalie will, but you shouldn't base a career off a couple games. Give him more time and see what you really have. Pens only need to make a decision before the expansion draft, where last time it took them 2 years to decide between Murray and Fleury, not 10 games.
As for the cups, Murray had a very experienced backup in Fleury in 15-16, who won his own cup, to mentor him and help control his nerves throughout each round of the playoffs because he's been through it all. DeSmith won't be that factor for Jarry at all, and vice versa, and the 2 might just be nervous wrecks in the playoffs and crumble. Sure you have Sid, Geno, Letang, etc. but none of them really know what it is to be the goalie during the playoff and how much more pressure goalies have than players, they won't be able to help for that.
In 16-17, don't forget that Fleury is the one who started the playoffs and brought the Pens past 2 rounds, a "backup" w/ his playoff experience has the ability to do that. That won't be the case for Jarry or DeSmith, as stated above.

Trading Murray at this point would be idiotic by Rutherford, Pens would be left w/ 2 goalies who, combined, currently have less than 100 games of NHL experience, no playoff experience combined either, and none of them have touched the role of an NHL starter yet. Only bad things can happen from there.

Heres the Price for a PriceDemko trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wqrrior</b></div><div>What you're leaving out is that Pettersson's extension is coming up. Having a sudden increase in cap over all of this time makes it very hard to maneuver the team. Pettersson's starting offer should be 10M. There's no room for an 8.5M goalie during the bulk of that contract.</div></div>
Still, we're not taking Eriksson to justify this. Let's just leave all players involved in this w/ their respective franchises and carry on.

"Cost a hell a of a lot less" - yes, that's true
"We have 2 goalies who are far better" - this statement is hilarious, sure Price isn't the goalie he once was, but holly f***, stop overvaluing your players, Price is still better than Markstrom and Demko. Put Price w/ VAN's team the way they're currently playing and his stats are better than those of Markstrom or Demko. Put Markstrom or Demko w/ MTL's team the way they're currently playing and their stats are worse than those of Price.
That said, the VAN doesn't accept, not because they're getting the worst player, but because of the huge contract they're getting in Price.
