I wouldn’t go big W but as a duck fan I think they did fine. Backes lowers the return a bit but a first and a RD prospect is a solid return. If they waive Backes and get a contract termination out of it next season it becomes even better.

He had four assists in 4:44 of ice time through two periods, and a decent amount of that ice time has come away from the high end players Team USA has. He's generating offense literally every time he's on the ice. He's a terrific guy on the forecheck, he's one of the most creative players in the offensive zone we've seen in a while, and his raw skill is off the charts. That kid is special.

Sundays lineup
I think Steel is best utilized at center though I get the impulse to give him a better opportunity being on the top line. I think Shore has no place on this team. Not talented enough to be a top-6 guy and not fast and gritty enough to be a bottom-6 guy. Comtois brings the most effort and generates the most chances of our young guys so I wouldn't take him out of the lineup. He can swap with Jones though. I'm starting to worry that kid just doesn't have the hands for the bigs.

I don’t mind moving Steel to the wing for a couple games. Bring up Lundestrom to for the all Swede line. And Comtois over Terry. Terry needs to sit. He won’t shoot the puck. Need to find a way to get thru to him. Sit him a game and see if he figure sit out. Had the puck in the slot twice last night and didn’t shoot either time.

Being Progressive
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Icarus</b></div><div>I would absolutely love to see it. People can talk about what "hard hits to a female player would look like" but Alex DeBrincat is 5' 7 and 165lbs. Hilary Knight is 5'11 and 172lbs. I think she can handle a hit better than quite a few guys in the league. I think the style of play is slightly different, but the same could be said for guys coming from a lot of European leagues. They tend to hit less and skate faster there, and the large ice plays a big factor as well. It would probably make sense for her to debut in the AHL for a good while, but I would love to see it still.
If not, I would love to see her in the org in general. If we arent ready for our first female NHL player, our first NHL assistant coach would be awesome as well.</div></div>
I believe we'll see women in the NHL in the future but probably not by next year. I feel like you made an excellent point about how Knight is physically comparable to a lot of NHL players in the league right now. And women are as tough or even tougher than a lot of men so it's not like they wouldn't be able to take a hit or deliver one. Honestly, I really feel like once there are players that emerge that show they're talent is really on par with the men in this league I think they'll get a real shot. I just don't know if we're there yet.

Ducks in on Hall
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Book_Hockey</b></div><div>This package is extremely light. Mahura is not in Pronman's top 124 prospects, and the package does not include a first rounder. Nick Ritchie has never sniffed 20 goals and has only topped 30 pts once. A realistic package would probably start with Comtois and a first, with another pick tossed in if he resigns.</div></div>
Sadly, I must confess that I agree with you. And rather than entertain pipe dreams about Taylor Hall, Bob Murray should be trying to address the problem of a weak RD, particularly now that Josh Manson may be injured. He should be thinking ahead about all sorts of free agents from Mark Pysyk to Alex Pietrangelo and whether there is any way he could pry Brett Pesce away from a temporarily incompetent Don Waddell.
If we're talking about the New Jersey Devils, I'd much rather explore the subject of Damon Severson.

Also as for shots on goal for Weegar, that means nothing. This season I’ve already seen Holzer, Lindholm and MDZ in the crease offensively. The D have more freedom and they moving in the Ozone a lot. This system will produce more offense from the D. Let’s suck back and watch this team and come back around January to discuss what moves they should make.</div></div>

See <a href="/users/AFOX10900" target="_blank">@AFOX10900</a> , above.
Weegar is 25, RFA, and has already taken 16 credited shots this year -- an area in which Anaheim's defensemen are somewhat deficient. He allows Fowler to move back to his strong side and has been playing with Aaron Ekblad, of whom you may have heard. Yes, I would hate to lose Larsson, but we have Brendan Guhle and Josh Mahura behind him, and Jackson Lacombe and Henry Thrun behind them. And the second is the key to the exchange.

Does he though? I really feel like what we've seen from Ritchie is what we're going to get. He can't skate, he's never going to be able to skate but he does has good hands. He just seems incapable of not taking bad penalties but all-in-all he's a 30ish point player making absolute peanuts for the next two years. Honestly, I think if we hadn't drafted him 10th overall I don't think so many of us would be so down on him. But I'm absolutely done thinking he's ever going to be more than the player he is right now. I wouldn't give him away just for the sake of giving him away but if another team really covets him I wouldn't hesitate if they're offering a decent return.

I think if Cody Ceci was available for a 5th Round Pick. we would be putting that offer in now.
Also as a general rule, we can buyout during the season, nor can we buy out 2 more people after Perry. Holzer and Grant can just be waived and sent down.</div></div>

Pietrangelo
I<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Icarus</b></div><div>Its a joke... like a really common joke. But Grant is an established 4th line guy. Not saying he has a ton of value, but guys like him are crucial for contenders.
I used the key work <em>possible</em>. He isnt right now, but he could be. He's just missing confidence. He was a point her game in SD last year at 41 points. Sprong is more of a mystery, he's always been projected as a top 6 scoring forward but vastly lacks success. At lower levels he's been a goal fiend, scoring 30+ goals almost always. He scored 14 goals on an incredibly weak Anaheim team last year. I'd say he still has potential.
That being said, this isn't about fair value. I think it's just a trade that makes no sense for either team. I do stand by the value of all the players I mentioned, but St Louis has no need of them. I think Grant could be a roster spot as 4C, but that's it.
A trade that does make sense? Fowler + a pick for Pietrangelo. Fowler is a LD, so we swap a LD for RD since we each need the other. He's signed to term, a little younger than Pietrangelo, and still a top 4 guy with solid offensive upside.
The reality of the situation is, Faulk got signed to a 6.5 mil contact for 7 years. Pietrangelo's 6.5 mil contract is expiring. Several RFAs are expiring, Binnington is signed for a couple years. Bouwmeester's contract is the only large one coming off the books next year. Gunnarsson is the only real LD on the team. I don't see Pietrangelo signing for less than he's making now unless he really wants to take a team friendly contract to try to win another cup. If it's not him, it's Parayko. Something just has to give.</div></div>
I would agree that it seems like something has to give with the RHD situation on the Blues. We don’t know the details. Armstrong could have made the Faulk move because he knows Pietrangelo is hell bent on reaching free agency or maybe the price tag to resign Pietrangelo is too high. These are the kinds of details we won’t know until after the fact. Neither the player nor the management are going public with that kind of information.
Now onto your depth trade. The current forwards are:
Schwartz Schenn Tarasenko
Blais ROR Perron
Fabbri Bozak Sanford
Barbashev Sundqvist Steen
MacEachern is on a one way contract so to send him down means risking him to waivers.
Both Thomas and Kyrou are hurt but should be playing soon. Thomas will replace Sanford and Kyrou will be replacing Fabbri. Kyrou should get a good look in the top 9 because he’s the future and he needs it for his development.
The Blues have Klim Kostin in the AHL. He did everything he needed to in order to make the roster in training camp. The problem is there’s simply not a top 9 spot available and the Blues have the ability to call him up and send him down with no risk of waivers.
You’re adding 3 more forwards to a team with too much depth as it is. It simply doesn’t make sense from the Blues perspective. I’m not trying to be rude at all but it’s just a trade that doesn’t benefit the Blues.
About the payroll next season: I think the consensus is most likely this will be Bouwmeester’s last season. But, he could sign another 1 year deal.
As long as Binnington holds up, (it appears he will), Allen is gone next offseason. It won’t be hard to trad Allen with only one year on his contract.
Steen will be on his last year as well. His actual salary is probably low enough he could be traded but personally I think he’ll block any trade. He could be the organization’s first buyout contract. Either way he’ll be in play.
Bozak is a good 3C but that position will belong to Thomas. Bozak is another player who will only have 1 year left on his contract and he’ll possibly be in trade play.
The Blues have a LHD in the minors, Mikkola, who is perfectly suited for a 3rd pairing role and he will be on the roster next season (should be).
A Fowler for Pietrangelo deal actually makes some sense from a need perspective. Next season the Blues will have Dunn, Gunnarsson, and Mikkola on the left side. It would be a lot better with Fowler 1, Dunn 2, and Mikkola / Gunnarsson 3. The right side would then be settled with Parayko, Faulk, Bortuzzo.
I can’t tell you what the details of a Pietrangelo / Fowler deal would be but it’s certainly a lot more beneficial to the Blues than the forwards deal.

As the Rangers GM (spoiler alert, I'm actually just some random fan) I'd have to think about that. The condition on him resigning would be important but it would also move the pick back to 2021 because Kreider could sign after the draft. Or you make it an additional pick if he resigns. But it shouldn't be two picks if they both make the playoffs and resign him. Well, let's just say there's a chance they could get something done here.
