An Anahiem roster with more skill than the post cap era
"I might flip lines 1 and 2, and swap Bedard for McTavish, just because new players traditionally start out on the wing.
I'd also swap 2nd and 3rd pairing D, no reason to give Klingberg 6.5 million if we are going to play him like Tyson Barrie."
Agreed, especially when you can carousel young guys like Vaakanainen, Helleson, or Zellweger. Those guys getting minutes next year will be huge, plus they might be one more year away from being contenders and not just a playoff team. Save that 6.5 and possibly lure a Devon Toews or Hanifin using that cash. Those guys are legitimate top four guys.

I get the cap rising and everything... but he's being paid over 100,000 more a season than Devon Toews

Florida Panthers signed Spencer Knight (3 Years / $4,500,000 AAV)
Bob is 34 right now and with the way he plays it's not like he can play 60-70% of games for four more years. This is a good signing for a budding star in net who will absolutely get a chance to prove himself if Bobvrosky goes down with an injury. From what I've seen Knight has the chance to be a top 5 goalie by the end of this contract.

As an Avs fan, I'm stokedddddddddddddd on this, either Newhook overtakes him at some point or he proves he's worth a top six and signs a bigger deal elsewhere next year. Either way it makes multiple guys on our roster hungry to prove what they're made of this year!

What is I would have taken and bridge deal for 2 years?

First two years do not matter too much as they're going through a rebuild, seems like a good contract for both sides.

I'm an Avs fan my friend, I just don't think Dvorak will be had easy. I agree with you and looking at past trades for a 26-year-old 2C is a value of a late first, which means a couple of prospects and a third or a prospect and a second

I really want that to be true but I'm not convinced, with how many times he was a healthy scratch in the playoffs Im not sure the coaches see it just yet either. He can play top six minutes but going into the playoffs with him as the 2C would make me nervous.

Dvorak is worth much more than that, his value is a late round first at this point. He's on a team-friendly contract and only 26 with a bunch of NHL experience already. Avs also don't have a third till 2025.

I really dislike Kane but Avs go all in
Breaks down as Toews for Compher, Kane, and Jones for Girard, the picks, a future goalie who could play next year, and a B- prospect. I don't think Chicago will get what they really want from anywhere. Girard and Jones together would be a great pairing and with the addition of Georgiev who is only four years older Annunen's time may be running short with the Avs. The picks can be negotiable with the second and third being changed to a first to make sure Avs get back an NHL defenseman to replace bottom pairing minutes.

Seattle... this one is debatable. Wright's potential is better than Beniers', but Burakovsky is such a good addition to that team.</div></div>
I disagree with a couple of yours, the San Jose one I do agree with. I went with the body of work for Couture over Meier, but Couture has had better linemates in his career too.
I took Doughty over Kopitar because of what he means to the team, Kopi has a couple of comparables on the team now whereas Doughty is still unmatched IMO.
I was torn between Hughes, Miller, and EP, Demko wasn't as good at points last year as he had been. I am a big fan of his too though.
For the Seattle one I was thinking Wright or Beniers, I think Beniers is better now but you're right in the end I do think Wright will be better overall.

I bet Terry and Vatrano switch a couple of times this season and it will be interesting to see how they start introducing the young guys who will be big NHL players within the next couple years. Could be playing McTavish anywhere from the second line center to fourth line winger to get him acclimated to the nhl.

I think Avs will end up platooning that second line center position giving everyone a shot depending on score/time/injuries. Everyone from Newhook moving Rantanen up to Meyers and JT. Seems like with everything McFarland has been saying this is basically our opening night roster. I am a huge Girard fan, I'm so glad Avs didn't trade him, he had really good chemistry with Manson too until he was injured in the playoffs. Byram seems like he might be floating and might end back up with Makar at certain points when we need a goal.
